  1. Both Alford and Tellez were removed from today’s game after one AB. I doubt they are getting called up. Simultaneous injuries?
  2. Next year's team IMO to start the season will be: CA Martin, 1B Smoak, 2B Travis, SS Tulo, 3B Solarte, RF Grichuk, CF Pillar, LF Hernandez, DH Morales. With Diaz, Pompey (if he's alive...since he's out of options), and Maile on the bench. Jays are going to hold off on calling anyone up for service time reasons. By mid season (post super 2 cut off and post trade deadline) we will see the prospects come up. Smoak and Pillar will be traded at next year's deadline, Martin will either be traded with all of his money eaten up (vetrin presents for team in a playoff run) or let go, as will Tulo if he's healthy. In other words, this team is going to be bad and boring until mid 2019 at the earliest. Then 2020 will hit, and we will be fapping.
  3. Why and when did Conforto fall out of favor with the Mets? Dude was a beast last year before he got hurt.
  4. Kevin Smith's supposed to be a legit SS defensively so if his bat is for real, then man time to get excited.
  5. Atlanta needs a 3B and AA has a history with JD. Unfortunately AA is probably better now having worked under Friedman for a few years, but still, ATL has a deep system. Get a couple of solid depth pieces for two months of JD and it's probably a win at this point. Unless he's so bad the rest of the way that they could offer him the QO and hope he comes back for a year.
  6. Grandy: old and declining Pearce: injured JD: injured Happ: Very good Estrada: meh Garcia: Trash Oh: Good Axford: Good Clippard: meh Loup: OK Yeah seriously, outside of Happ, the Jays won't get much for anyone. Still time for JD to come back and go in beast mode but probably won't get much for him at this point. Hope they look for deals for Smoak and Pillar but I don't think they will.
  7. They can hold him down in 2018 since he's been in AA for two months and still needs to work on his D. But holding back next year too, when he will most likely brutalize AAA? Not a good look. Call him up May/June 2019, and get that extra year. Use 2019 as a year where he can get some big league experience, then enjoy 2020-25 (hopefully more than that).
  8. Not going to watch many, if any, games, but looking forward to the trade deadline (now that the draft is over). This team could realistically be a bottom 5 team in baseball with their roster + injuries, and they won't be calling up any top prospects until 2019 at the earliest. Gonna be a long season.
  9. Yeah I'll go out on a limb and say he was not upset at being drafted 12th overall. I mean i know Toronto is not the ideal spot for a young Texan, but dude is going to be a millionaire and play ball professionally. He looked relieved to be picked to me. Maybe he's just not a smiley guy. Kloffenstein is retweeting a bunch of stuff related to this draft/him signing so clearly two different personalities.
  10. Yeah this front office does not seem like they would operate like AA who will draft a top player and not care if he doesn't sign. I don't think they make the pick unless they think/know they have him at a certain price. We shall see.
  11. How many other sons of former big leaguers are in the draft? Should give us an idea of who the Jays are targeting.
  12. Yeah I like the position player emphasis. Pitchers are risky and I’d much rather buy them in free agency than hope to develop them. Position players is where it’s at!
  13. Have to hope he accepts the QO. Gives the team a chance to keep Vlad down to start 2019 and maybe he rebuilds his value next year. If not, yeah, we will either sell him for s*** in July or get a comp pick. Not good.
  14. Seattle and the Angels will both be desperate to make the playoffs. Atlanta is in the race and AA treats prospects like cheap whores so there’s always a chance for a deal there (don’t they need a 3B?). The trade deadline will hopefully be fun this year for the Jays. We have some intriguing short term options that can help teams.
  15. Ehh, I hope they go on a run, but their best players are either hurt, sucking badly, both, or awaiting trial. Not to mention they are 10 games in the loss column behind the 2nd wild card team. Stick a fork in these guys. It was a nice run with JD. 2/4 years in the playoffs. But it's over barring a miracle.
  16. Hoping the Jays trade Pillar at the deadline. I don't expect them to, but it would open up some PT for Pompey/Smith before they have to make a decision on them in the winter, and then there's Alford to take over full time whenever he stops sucking.
  17. On the plus side, Loup might turn into a sellable asset at the deadline. He's quietly having a pretty decent year.
  18. The front office might be trying to time it so all the prospects come up around the same time (mid 2019?). It's not like there are open spots. JD/Solarte have 3B, Morales has DH (ugh), Martin has catcher, etc. I don't think this front office is in any rush to promote prospects.
  19. Of course JD gets hurt. Well this was the risk heading into the year. He’s 32.
  20. The Jays are in a really good spot in terms of infielders in the minors. Gives them the ability to flip some of them down the road for other needs.
  21. 10/100 guaranteed seems like it would be a risk for the team, but chances are they will be seeing surplus value on that deal by year 3 or 4. I know prospects can bust but he's not a typical prospect. He doesn't strike out, makes Stanton-like hard contact, high hit tool, and practically no weakness with the bat. Guys like Snider had troubling K rates. Those types are more high risk. If Vlad takes 10/100, sign the damn thing tomorrow and call him up.
  22. I am at a point where I just want all the vets to do good so we can trade them at the deadline. Yes, I've thrown in the towel. Too many injuries and underachieving for too many important players. July can't come soon enough.
  23. When the Twins DFAd Hughes that should have been the signal. It's one thing to say the Red Sox can eat up bad contracts, but when the f'n Twins are eating up $20m, then Rogers can eat Morales' contract. No excuses.
  24. They have like a billion more games against the Yankees and Red Sox, and haven't faced the Astros yet. The Jays will be selling. Only a matter of time. Too many key injuries and underperformance. It will be hard to keep afloat. Just have to hope the key trade pieces (JD, Happ, Grandy, Pearce, etc) do well from now until July.
