  1. It has nothing to do with "stupid GM's". It's reality. The dude is in the middle of a suspension, a possible trial for a hot button issue in the world today, a possible issue with crossing the border, , etc, etc. The Jays are also owned by a publicly traded company that couldn't give two shits about baseball moves if it potentially hurts their brand. You really think the Jays will be in a position of strength here because of years of control? A year from now, if Osuna's legal issues are taken care of and he's back to pitching like normal, then sure, you lose a year of control but the cloud over him is gone, and he'll still have 2.5 years of control (the Jays gain a year due to this suspension, right?). Again, I hope i'm wrong if the Jays trade him before tomorrow, but this isn't a video game.
  2. Hope you're right but I have a bad feeling about this, and I say that as someone who likes/trusts Shatkins.
  3. I don’t remember all the details but I don’t recall there was any danger of Chapman missing the 2016 post season. Plus I believe there was talk that if he was suspended for X amount of days the team that had him would gain a year of control, so there was no downside to trading for him. And he was still traded for garbage. Now, clearly Shatkins is better than the Reds org, so I have more faith in them to do the right thing but I don’t have any trust in Rogers. If they are forcing a trade and teams are lowballing, then it becomes a s***** situation. I hope I’m wrong. But yes, I’d look at Houston and Atlanta for this one. We know AA likes Osuna and is open to moving Gohara. Maybe there’s a fit there.
  4. Dude, look what the Yankees gave up for Chapman and what they got for him months later when he was back on the field. A bunch of s*** versus one of the best prospects in the game. You think teams are going to pay top dollar for a guy DURING a suspension? If anything, it will be lowball city. If a teams gives up pre-suspension level value for him, then it's a no brainer. Move him.
  5. Osuna should definitely be traded but only when he recoups some of his value. A year from now, when the DV stuff is in the rear view and he's racking up saves again, his value should increase. Selling now (unless a team is willing to give up the same value they would have if he wasn't in legal issues) is selling low and the Jays can't afford to lose value after what happened with JD. Rogers is going to cater to the SJW hive. Publicly traded company that doesn’t care about baseball moves over optics. Bad combo. Hopefully Shatkins can either get a good deal or convince them to hold on to him until value increases.
  6. The SJW's are going to win this one.
  7. I hate baseball.
  8. Yeah when Pompey is taken out of a game, a trade is the last reason I'd think of, unfortunately.
  9. One thing I noticed about McKinney's milb numbers is that he hits a lot of line drives and fly balls. That seems like a good thing, but outside of that I have no idea what his upside is.
  10. Trade deadline update: Wall: 3-4, 2B, BB, K Espinal: 2-4, 2B Spanberger: 2-4, K McKinney: 1-4, 2B, K
  11. Clippard saw a lead and was salivating at the thought of blowing it.
  12. Tercet triggered by Gurriel’s hot streak.
  13. If Vlad signs a 10 year deal then they can call him up tomorrow for all I care. Without an extension, play the system for what it is. Wait and get the most years out of him as possible.
  14. I really hope this is the next domino to fall. I don't even care about the return.
  15. If his brother is any indication, the Gurriel's don't walk. Period.
  16. Calling him up in Sept, putting him on the 40 man unnecessarily, and killing 30 days of service (which will force the club to keep him down longer next season) is insanity. Shatkins deserves a ton of s*** if that happens (it won't).
  17. Is Morales good again? I'm fine with that.
  18. Man, I guess none of the trade deadline pick ups are playing today in the minors. At least we got a Forest HR yesterday.
  19. Drury, Gurriel, Diaz, Travis, and eventually JD. Way too many infielders. Once they move Grandy an OF spot will open up, and Pillar's out for a while, so maybe they will play Drury there, but I'd rather put Pompey, DSJ, or McKinney there. At least see what they have. Solarte should def be traded. Don't care what the return is. An Ed Olivares equivalent works for me. Nothing of value lost.
  20. They might be (better be) showcasing Solarte for a trade. Otherwise yeah I would just play Drury the rest of the way.
  21. I'm fine with his bat but his D is so bad that I don't think it's worth it. If his best position is DH, then that's a problem.
  22. They'll probably call up Pannone before SRF.
  23. Brian Cashman never trades good prospects, but he moved two pretty decent ones for Drury. Teams seem to value him a lot more than his numbers suggest they should.
  24. He’s hurt too.
  25. They have a history with Grandy and lefties do well in that stadium. Give us a lottery ticket we should have gotten for Happ.
