  1. Yeah no way the Jays trade Stro now given the type of season he's had. Maybe trade deadline 2019 at the earliest.
  2. Funny Upton meme aside I think McKinney has a chance t be a decent regular. Not a star or anything but positive WAR for a number of years.
  3. Nice. Billy Upton with that Yankee Stadium ******** right field is a good combo.
  4. Biggio with 26 HR's on the year. Outside shot of 30 home runs and 100 walks (most likely will fall short though). Man he became a prospect and real interesting player overnight. High performance department legit.
  5. Hector Perez: 6 ip, 2 h, 1 er, 0 bb, 7 k, 1 hr, 69 pitches I kinda like this version of Perez a tad more than the one who walked 7 last time out.
  6. Jansen's name is going to misspelled for the next six years (at least).
  7. I don't think it's irrational at all. Have to make a 25 man roster decision with Pompey next year. Now would have been the perfect time to see what he has. Or they could have played Smith more, or McKinney, or damn near anyone else who potentially could be useful next year. Grandy is a good dude but trade him to a contender already and move on.
  8. "Glen" Giles is going to be good trade bait next year.
  9. Two times under AA a pitcher coming back from TJS threw 190ish innings his first year back, and both fell off a cliff shortly after (Marcum, Hutch). Marcum at least had another good year or so before falling off but don’t think that was a coincidence.
  10. The only thing I can think of is they expect a massive payroll decrease and don't want to risk him accepting the QO. Otherwise I agree with you. The comp pick is going to add money to the team's draft pool, so there's value there aside from the actual pick. No team is giving up a top prospect for him so it seems kind of pointless now.
  11. Heyman is confirming it is to complete the Oh trade. So it's officially Oh for Wall, Spanberger, and Baker.
  12. I forgot who said it but I remember him being compared to Papelbon a couple of years ago. He's probably destined for the pen but let him fail as a SP first. Hopefully something clicks in a starting role.
  13. Tercet watching this inning with lube in his hand.
  14. Calling it now, this time next year Samad Taylor is a top 10 prospect in the system. He will be 20 in Dunedin for most of next season. He's still very young but holding his own.
  15. Dave Stewart accused the Jays of being racist when they chose Ricciardi over him. Think about it, without JP, the Jays may have went with Stew. That would have been fun.
  16. How is that weird? Profar had limited value prior to this season. Not sure how trading Pillar for Profar and a prospect meant that Pillar had a ton of value. It was buying really low on a young infielder whose stock had plummeted while selling an outfielder before his defence evaporated. if we traded Pillar for Aledmys Diaz prior to this season I probably would have been ok with it, but thankfully the Cards traded him for s*** instead. It means everything man. Listen to my trade suggestions. Profar, Tony Kemp....everyone I suggest turns out great. It's a gift.
  17. Espinal was 1-2 with a double and 2 walks today, raising his line to .296/.383/.437. He has as many walks (10) as K's. Not missing a beat since the promotion. Maybe a Maicer Izturis (the good version) type of player? That would a pretty solid outcome.
  18. Exactly. Pillar is more valuable to the team he's on than as a trade chip. Even at his peak WAR that was the case. Players who can't hit but play great D are not very attractive trade pieces. The Jays would have gotten something for him, but not any top prospects. In the off season I said trade Pillar to Texas for Profar and a prospect and got roasted for it. Now Profar is up to a 2.3 WAR and 107 wrc+ while Pillar is the same old dude but with regressing D. This is what happens when you don't take my trade proposals seriously.
  19. I'm actually hoping SRF throws 10 straight balls and then dominates the rest of the game.
  20. The Jays org will always celebrate 92/93 when the current team sucks. I remember they did something similar in 2009. Nostalgia still sells.
  21. I'm still not sold on Tellez, but didn't realize he had a 120 wrc+ in AAA this year. Better than I thought. Shatkins liked him enough to put him on the 40 man last year despite coming off a terrible season and little chance that he would have been taken in the R5, so maybe they see him as part of the future. All I know is the Jays better increase their food budget if Vlad and Rowdy are in the same clubhouse in the bigs. Snacks for days.
  22. Girardi was very much into analytics, you have to be if you manage the Yankees. The Yanks overachieved practically every year he managed as well. I'd rate him over Gibby. Either way I don't think he'd come here, nor do I think Shapiro will pay that much for a manager. It will probably be a cheap no name guy. Or maybe they will promote Hale.
  23. If they don't want Gibbons back then no point having him manage next season. He is either going to be extended or fired, and there's a lot of smoke about the fired part, so it's probably already decided.
  24. Imagine facing three versions of the O’s and one version of the Jays. That’s what Cleveland faces more than anyone else. Trout is always the MVP if you look at the best player but Betts has been more than worthy this year.
  25. Yeah when they call him up they won’t be sending him back down. That would actually look worse than keeping him down until next May because at least with the latter they can say he has to work on his D or some other excuse. Once he’s up, sending him back down for a longer period of time to compensate for the Sept call up would look awful. Shatkins is smarter than that. My fear is always with Rogers, but even they have to know one month of Vlad in Sept when the team sucks won’t do s***, so I’m not worried.
