  1. Cashman got Hicks for a back up catcher a couple of years ago. That's not fair.
  2. Sonny Gray who is struggling and only has a year of control left doesn't make sense for a team that needs to add as much talent as possible for 2020 and beyond. Even if Gray is a stud in 2019 it won't help the Jays beat out Boston or New York, and if you're trading him next trade deadline, then you're hoping he pitches well enough to have as much value as Happ does now. Might as well just trade Happ for the young pieces.
  3. Swoop in and get Gray, Shatkins. Find a way.
  4. Oh is going to be a big trade chip with that cheap team option for 2019.
  5. Atkins not afraid of the SJW’s.
  6. I think Pearce will mash in Boston if he stays healthy but at this point does it really matter? If this was the best the Jays could do, then take it. Shatkins has shown they are willing to eat up money if it improves what they get back, so either the offers for Pearce besides this were s*** or they think highly of Espinal.
  7. Pearce was a good signing but couldn't stay healthy and sucked as an outfielder. At least we got something back, even if it looks like a utility infielder.
  8. We got Hernandez for Liriano. That was my way of saying try to sell them Loup and get one of their prospect depth pieces. Hell maybe my Tony Kemp suggestion will finally come true.
  9. Loup carving the Astros up. Lefty reliever. Trade deadline. Astros. Try it one more time shatkins.
  10. Don’t mind that lineup with a lefty on the mound, but why in God’s name is Pearce at DH and Morales at first rather than the other way around?
  11. The Jays have two starters locked up for next year (safe bet they won't pick up Garcia's option), and both guys have been hurt this year. I'm sure they'd prefer to start next year with Borucki and SRF in AAA, but they have a lot of rotation slots to fill. They might not have a choice.
  12. I wouldn't worry too much about the line. He was facing the best lineup in the league in his big league debut. The fact that he went 6 and didn't get slaughtered is an accomplishment.
  13. Unless I'm mistaken, a team is only allowed to offer the QO once. The player doesn't have to accept it. So even if JD declines it and signs a one year deal, the Jays can't offer it to him again.
  14. Don't know if JD would take the QO, but signing him to an expensive one year deal with some s***** options like we did Bautista is probably realistic if he doesn't go h.a.m. in August and September.
  15. Wait, we were going to get Flaherty for Donaldson? The Cardinals GM went out of his way to say he did not want to trade six years of value for a rental. I highly doubt that was happening. We probably could have gotten what the Marlins got for Ozuna, which frankly wasn't great, but Ozuna came with an extra year so who knows.
  16. Grichuk is going to have at least one 3 WAR season in toronto. Of course i predicted that in 2018 but still have two years to be right.
  17. Grandy is the perfect platoon DH at this point in his career. Kills righties and is a good dude on top of that.
  18. Nice outing from Happ against an amazing lineup. I'm assuming he's done, but after his last start, you never know.
  19. Hope Happ can have a good start tonight. I know it's only one game, but a good start against the Stros will look good on the 2018 resume when it comes to a trade.
  20. There are some teams that are trying to break some playoff droughts (Seattle, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Angels) and then a team like the Nats who will lose Harper in the winter and may want to see if they can win with him before he leaves. I'm sure the big 4 in the AL will look for upgrades as well. There should be a decent amount of buyers. Whether we get anything good is another story, but hopefully between Happ, Estrada, Grandy, Pearce, and a reliever or two, we can add some good depth to the system.
  21. Osuna seems like the type who was too young for all the fame. He came in at age 20, was great right away, and due to the playoff appearances got a lot of visibility in Toronto (hence the females). Then tack on the $5m in salary this year. It's a shame too because he wasn't showing any signs of letting up, which is rare for a young reliever. Those guys have short shelf lives but he was on year 4 of being dominating.
  22. Kendrys up to a 0.0 WAR and 97 wRC+ now. He ranks 7th in mlb in exit velocity (ahead of Trout, Stanton, Davis, etc) so old man still hits the ball hard. Maybe the glasses were holding him back.
  23. Pearce wants to be traded.
  24. Trade for Santana, trade Pillar, move Grichuk to cf.
