  1. Even the umps don't want the Rox to move on. I don't blame them.
  2. Elite base stealers are fun to watch. Not too many of them out there. Gore can't do anything else, but that's a valuable weapon in the playoffs.
  3. Not pinch hitting Schwarber with the bases loaded was pretty darn stupid.
  4. Rockies about to derp their way into the NLDS.
  5. Any other team than the Astros we get a middling prospect at best. The Astros trade intriguing prospects like candy though.
  6. Yeah anyone who credits AA for the Braves is either dumn or a troll, but I think we will hear a lot of it over the next week or so, especially if they advance. I actually think AA is smart as hell for what he did though. Let someone else to clean up his mess, left as a cult hero, and then got the best job any executive could ask for, while probably getting a huge bump in pay.
  7. More trades with the Astros works for me. They don't mind trading good prospects, even in salary dumps. Eat up a large chunk of Martin's deal and I think the Jays get a good/solid prospect from the Astros (assuming they have interest). Any other team, I wouldn't expect much.
  8. Over their last 11 starts, Happ is 7-0 with a 2.69 ERA (4.21 FIP) while Severino is 5-5 with a 5.12 ERA (3.21 FIP). So yeah, combination of W/L and ERA. I don't know what OAK's splits are against lefties and righties, but it's really a toss up here. Severino is better, but for one game match ups are very important. Plus the Yankees probably go with Green for 2-3 innings and then Robertson/Betances/Chapman for another 3-4 so they won't even use the starter much.
  9. I kinda hope they hold on to Pompey. The Jays will need a 4th OF anyway and no sense losing anyone with even a tiny bit of upside for nothing since we are rebuilding. But yeah, not being called up in Sept combined with his attitude issues in AAA probably spell the end for him. He'll be in Atlanta by November. Other than that, I don't think there is a crunch. Even when the Jays start adding all the talent they need to add (Wall, Waguespack, Perez, Ramirez, etc), they still have enough s*** on the 40 man as is that they can jettison. Once they start adding FA's, then it will possibly be an issue.
  10. I don't think I will ever understand why AA drafts players he doesn't think he can sign. I have never been worried about the Jays signing a draft pick since Shatkins took over, but with AA, you never knew. On the plus side, we will get to hear how great AA is over the next few days as he single handedly brought Atlanta back to the playoffs. Not like he inherited 98% of the team or anything, it was all him. /sportsnet.ca.
  11. There was talk from Davidi that Alford was called up two weeks later than everyone else this month because of super 2 reasons (he can now play 2 full seasons without being a super 2). I wonder if that means they will put him at CF next year and let him sink or swim there. Otherwise they will face the same super 2 issue next year if he’s called up mid season.
  12. It seems like an eternity ago, but April was pretty fun. It went downhill quick after that though.
  13. Martin got practically all of Sept off. I'd be surprised if he's even on the team next year. He's not managing next year. Maybe someday in the future.
  14. I think the Yankees can beat Boston. Not sure about the A's. Definitely rooting for the Astros over the Indians. Astros actually won a division, while the Indians were under .500 against teams not in the Central. F them and their weak ass division.
  15. I don’t mind the Rockies making it, but I just want Gray to do terribly in the playoffs so that he’s traded for GB machine Aaron Sanchez in the winter. The Rox are run so poorly that I can at least wish for this for the time being.
  16. Amazing how the Jays were in the worst possible position as far as selling on an asset and still ended up getting a comparable RP plus two prospects. If Giles has a great first half next year, then you have Paulino, Perez, and whatever we get for Giles next July. That would be a pretty good haul all things considered.
  17. Teoscar had a 102 wrc+ heading into tonight and a -0.1 WAR. How f'n bad is his defence and base running? Geez.
  18. If Giles and Stroman are having bounce back years in 2019, and the Jays are not in contention, then the trade deadline will be extremely important for the Jays. Could add some key pieces. I'd include Sanchez in there if I had any faith in him, but it's dwindling.
  19. Damn. Hopefully with the arbitration raise he got this year, he can finally afford to buy a condom.
  20. Man, I was really hoping we'd sign CC last winter when it was rumored. Not that it would have made a difference or anything, but always been a fan of his pitching.
  21. I predicted a 3+ war out of Grichuk in 2018 but no way is what he did this year disappointing. He is what he’s always been. I still think he has another gear and can improve but I wouldn’t rate his 2018 poorly at all.
  22. While I agree that I would trust their judgment, it would still be a pretty damn disappointing hire.
  23. Anyone who thinks Betts is an unworthy MVP is out of their damn minds. Now that he's ahead of Trout in WAR hopefully it will put an end to that nonsense.
  24. I would have said this and agreed with you after 2015, but 2016-18 (aka Gibby 2.0) was fine. He adapted to the new front office better than anyone could have dreamed of. Unfortunately for him, he stayed long enough to see the inevitable happen (while his buddy AA left at the best time). As long as they don't hire Wedge (that seems like a really bad idea), I doubt we will see much difference. Managers nowadays are extensions of the front office. It will probably be a suit and tie analytics guy (aka the reflection of Shatkins). I think we will all miss Gibby's personality more than anything else.
  25. If the Yankees advance to the ALDS, I think they have a real shot of beating Boston, especially if Sale is not 100%. That lineup is designed to kill lefties.
