  1. A few boos from the SJW's, but mostly indifference, is my guess. I think people grossly overrate how sports fans react to these things, rightly or wrongly. Baseball in Toronto, especially with NHL and NBA starting up soon, is losing steam anyway. I doubt it will be much of a reaction.
  2. Borucki. I'm not sold on SRF or Pannone. They will have to earn a spot in ST. Paulino is the guy that I am most excited about. If the Baseball Gods keep him healthy, he's my #5 starter.
  3. Over the course of the 2018 season? Absolutely, I'd rate Tampa better. Tougher schedule and identical records. If you swapped the Jays and Indians, put the Jays in the Central and Indians in the East, Jays would be division winners and the Indians would be 3rd or 4th. That's how bad the Central is. They have 3 Baltimore's and one team similar to the Jays. It's a wasteland.
  4. Their run differential is +153 against the AL Central, while it is +2 against everyone else. 45-24 against the Central, 41-44 against everyone else. I wouldn't rate them ahead of Oakland or Tampa, much less BOS/NY/HOU.
  5. All four of those Cleveland pitchers with 200 K's were acquired in trades as well. As much as I hate Cleveland for being like the 6th best team in the AL and yet handed a playoff spot because of their division, they've done well with development the last few years.
  6. Yeah no one could have expected him to be this bad, but old man skills in his 30's in the post PED era? If he was going to be good during the life of a contract, it def wasn't going to be for long.
  7. Remember when casual Jays fans on Twitter wanted the Jays to sign Davis because of how deadly he'd be in the lineup with Bats, Edwin, and JD? Good times.
  8. Pannone should have been taken out after 6. Gibby going 1.0 despite having a million relievers.
  9. To start the year: 2B Drury, SS Gurriel, 3B Diaz When Vlad comes up: 2B Drury, SS Gurriel, 3B Vlad, UT Diaz Once Biggio and Bo are ready, then there will be some maneuvering/trades that will need to happen. Gurriel can probably move around (OF too), and Diaz can stay as the utility IF, but Drury might need to be traded, assuming he's any good. I'm also assuming Tulo is either hurt or traded before the start of the year, as I don't see him playing another inning in Toronto, but I guess we'll see.
  10. Bannister is a POS, so glad the Jays were able to beat him twice in the playoffs before he got deservedly canned.
  11. Amazing that the A's are a 90+ win team three years after trading Donaldson in a horrendous trade for them, and none of the players they received in that trade are contributing for them at all. Gives me hope that the Jays are not that far off, especially since they'll be adding a generational player next May.
  12. The wild card winner faces the team with the best record in the league regardless of division. It will either be the Yanks or A's against the Red Sox. Hopefully the Yanks because while Oakland is a much better story and I'd cheer for them to go all the way, NYY/BOS will get the mainstream pub MLB needs.
  13. Great comeback against our fathers. Nice.
  14. Tanaka against Rodriguez is agonizing to watch. Both guys are taking their sweet ass time. Over an hour in and it's only the bottom of the 2nd. If the Yankees win the WC game, then those ALDS games are going to be 4-5 hours long.
  15. He’s going to focus on the 40-45 FV guys. The ones no one really hypes up but he will still lecture us on how much they will suck.
  16. Working for a big league team seems like it would be a thankless job with long hours, in any capacity. Also working your way up the baseball food chain seems next to impossible (being white probably helps tho). Being a GM would be awesome, but outside of that, I'd take the corporate job. When it's $100k more, it's a no brainer. Take the $225k, work the corporate life, invest in real estate/business/stocks on the side, and become a millionaire in 10 years. Then watch baseball on TV.
  17. I'm still upset that the Rays got Tommy Pham and not the Jays. The Rays have been making great moves and they have a loaded system. I'm afraid they might be in for another run around the time the JAys expect to compete with Vlad. I hope not, but might be unavoidable.
  18. They don't need to. Dude has a 9.2 WAR on a team that is going to win over 110 games. He deserves the award. Trout is the best player in the world, but he's not winning it every year. That's just the way it goes.
  19. I’m holding out hope that Shatkins can steal Gray from the Rockies. I don’t know how, but dammit, we never fleeced Dave Stewart while he was active, take advantage of the Rox.
  20. True, teams were not giving up top prospects at all, so can't entirely fault the FO for taking what they perceived to be the best offer they got. Still, out of all the deadline deals, the Happ trade was the one I had to convince myself to be ok with. I liked or really liked all the other moves (even the JD trade considering the circumstances), but the Happ deal was the one where I read it and was highly disappointed. Oh well. Drury is resting up so he can become the next Jays late bloomer next season, and McKinney has Justin Upton upside. Just have to hope one of them works out.
  21. I wonder how much (and how many years) Cutch will command in free agency. Some will argue the Jays don't need to spend money on the OF, but with as many OF's as they have on the 40 man, there isn't a lot of starting caliber guys, at least not yet. I still like Alford, much to Todd's disappointment. Give him half of 2019 and i think he'll bounce back.
  22. Given Borucki's history, I would have understood taking him out after 7. The game means nothing, and one of us could come out of the pen and put up 0's against the Orioles.
  23. I'm probably late to the party here, but had no idea Miles Mikolas was having the type of year he's had. After tonight: 185.2 ip, 3.01 ERA, 3.36 FIP, and a WAR around ~4.0. One hell of a signing by the Cards.
  24. Papa Buehrle conceived a child while he was here. Borucki making his dad proud.
  25. The problem with trading Pillar is that aside from Alford (who had a bad year), no one can play CF. Well, Grichuk can, but he doesn't rate very well over there. He's more likely to be a 2-3 WAR player in RF. An OF with Grichuk at CF and Teoscar anywhere else is likely to be awful. Although if they can trade Pillar and move Morales, then putting Teoscar at DH, Grichuk at CF, and finding an above average defensive veteran to fill one of the corners (with McKinney on the other) might be doable. Lose some defensive value with Grichuk, but it's only temporary until Alford is (hopefully) ready mid season. The Jays will have a lot of OF's on the 40 man roster next year (Pillar, Grichuk, Teoscar, McKinney, Alford, Davis, Pompey, Smith Jr). They also may want to add Ramirez. Looks like Pompey is gone one way or another (wonder how long it takes Alex to bring him in?). There is going to have to be some movement there. THe Jays might be at the point where they have to make some Yankees types of trades (to clear 40 man clutter).
