    Put Vlad at 1B and keep Drury at 3B. That seems like a simple fix. Vlad will hit enough to be an elite 1b so not sure why he even needs to play 3b.

    Drury has 3 more years of control after this year. Even if he broke out this year there is no real reason to sign him long term. Grichuk had a year after this one, so they had to make a decision with him one way or another (sign him or trade him).

    Dombrowski doing us a favor by signing these big contracts. Hopefully he cheaps out on Betts.

    I don't like pinch hitting Grichuk there. Yeah he's a better hitter than Alford right now but who cares? Just let Alford hit and see what he has.

    Rogers will take one look at attendance this year and ask Shapiro to try to win in 2020. Book it.

    Yeah this actually seems a bit excessive to me. I think Grichuk has potential to be better than he has shown so far, but I wouldn't have dropped $50m on him before he comes close to reaching it. He has a 5% bb rate and a career OBP below .300 and even last year didn't show any signs of deviating from that skill set. Not sure this is a smart move, but I said the same thing about the Smoakster, so prove me wrong again Atkins.

    2015-16 were great years for the club. Not surprising that players who were part of it are getting emotional seeing the last remnants of it being disbanded. Just makes me hate the Royals more if nothing else. We had no business losing that series. Wasted chance at a ring.

    That makes more sense then. He makes $130+ mil in his 20's, might still get another much smaller deal in his 30's, and support himself/family for a long time. Happy for him in that case. Protects himself in case of injury, decline, etc. Vlad signed for millions and had a millionaire HOF father. He's not giving anyone a discount.

    Yeah no one can deny how much value he brought from 2015-18. He was a key member of those playoff teams and great surplus value for the team. If the Jays wanted to win in 2019, then you hold on to him, but clearly they give no F's about 2019, so this was the only solution. Wish him all the best though. Him and his hot wife.

    Offer that to Vlad and he'd laugh in their faces. Acuna either has a bad agent or came from nothing and wanted to get the cash right away.

    Now they need to trade Smoak so Hernandez can DH, McKinney can start in LF, and Tellez can go to 1B.

    But two options so pretty much all of his 20’s for $124 million. If he went to arb every year then he would have been a free agent at age 27. I think he definitely lost money here. But $100 mil is $100 mil. No way Vlad signs a deal like that. He will bet on himself and assuming he stays healthy will get $200-300 mil easy if he’s as good as everyone projects.

    Pillar was a good player for the Jays, but are people seriously thinking he was necessary to keep around? He is a 1-2 war player in his 30's in an era where those types of players have trouble getting deals. Plus the team is rebuilding and probably tanking for a top pick (they have made no effort at all to win) so what good is Pillar on the squad even for depth purposes? If Jonathan Davis and Pompey (if he ever gets healthy) end up with a shitload of AB's, then so be it. 2019 means nothing to Shatkins.

    For what the Jays are trying to do, De Paula > Pillar. Jays were probably not going to get a better prospect than that. 2 win players in their 30's have trouble getting big league deals nowadays. This definitely hurts depth, but Shatkins doesn't care about wins, so they'll just plug whoever is available when they need to.

    Elite players still get paid in MLB. Acuna probably cost himself at least a hundred million, if not more by signing this. He could have made $50-60m just in arb, and then hit free agency in his mid 20's.

    I hope Shatkins doesn't F around and delay Bichette for service time reasons. If he's hitting well in AAA by mid season call his ass up. I don't know how much of this I can watch, and it's only 5 games in. Even the wins have been boring.
