    Damn he should have signed with a real franchise. Dude is going to get no coverage and he'll probably end up signing a puny ass extension with 5 team options where he'll be traded half way into it. Aka the Tampa Bay way. Find a way out of Tampa, Wander. Asap.

    So Romano was returned, DSJ sucks again, and Bergen about to be returned. I can be as hard on Shatkins for their moves as anyone, but never understood the uproar about the above moves.

    He thought he hit a home run, and admired it. He was wrong. It cost him a base. Take him to the side, tell him he was wrong, and move on. Taking your best player out of the game for that is ridiculous. The guy is making highlight reel catches, and is a great player in every facet of the game. He obviously cares. But god forbid a 21 year old pimp a home run because he legit thought he hit it out and be wrong about it. Take his ass out.

    I just saw it and it's another example of why baseball is going to go the way of the NHL in North America within the next 10 years. Acuna shows a tiny bit of personality, it cost him a base, and you want to take him out of the game to set an example when fans paid money to see him play? Take him to the back, tell him what he did was wrong, and then move the f*** on. Although I am upset that both Acuna and Albies signed their primes away for a carton of milk, effectively costing themselves tens of millions (if not hundreds of millions in Acuna's case) so maybe I'd should view this as karma for them being so stupid.

    Fisher took 5 straight balls, and then struck out looking on the one strike thrown in the entire AB. Baseball can be so unwatchable some times.

    25 K's in 20.2 innings for Kay since the trade (14 walks though). Only given up 2 home runs in those 20 innings. Showing positive signs but not there yet.

    The next CBA brings a lot of uncertainty. If I'm the Jays, I approach them this winter to see if something can be reached. I don't think they'll give away their primes for a peanut butter sandwich like the Braves players did, but the Jays have enough payroll flexibility to pay them well and build around them.

    Every starter on the team needs an opener. Man, I hope Shatkins signs/acquires at least 3 good SP's this winter. Then Shoemaker and Borucki + a shitload of depth fighting for the last two spots.

    Yeah, Smoak's stat cast numbers are still very good (launch angle, exit velocity, barrels, xwoba). Wouldn't shock me if Atkins brings him back on the cheap. Really depends on what they think of Tellez.

    Either go all in with Cole (not happening) or spread the risk around 2-3 actually decent SPs. Shatkins has proven they can build a pen from nothing, and the bats are there. Just get some damn SPs.

    They probably anticipated being able to trade Galvis, but maybe underestimated how other teams view him. They gave him more money than similar FA's got. If there is one thing you can count on with SHatkins is that they will try to move anyone on a short term deal, even if the return is s***. Galvis and Smoak must have had absolutely no value at all. I agree, get rid of Smoak too. Don't need him, and they can use 1B to give a bunch of younger talent playing time (Tellez, Drury, McKinney).

    Seriously, I must be missing something with Galvis. He's a solid 1-2 war player, but he's a backup on this team, and the Jays are clearly better off giving that role to Drury who might actually have a bit of upside and versatility. Off the top of my head, infielders like Beckham, Iglesias, Harrison, Sogard, etc, signed for dirt s***. Players like this are not valued anymore. Galvis at $5.5m is a bad use of resources in this market and the Jays could sign another infielder with that profile rather inexpensively without having to worry about Buntoyo playing him everyday (hopefully). If that $$ could be reallocated to pitching help, it would be a much better fit for the Jays.

    I'm surprised people want to non tender Drury. I'm not as big of a fan of his as Shatkins seems to be, but he can play multiple positions, won't cost much in Arb2, and he's still young enough that you can still dream on the bat. I would definitely tender him a contract.

    Exactly. Look at what infielders signed for in the off season. Galvis might be overpaid. I hate that a 2 win player at $5m is an overpay, but welcome to 2019-20 MLB. The Jays might not get the same results, but I have no doubt they'll be able to get a decent utility infielder in free agency for less than what Galvis was going to get.

    I would have been fine keeping Galvis next year if he was used as a bench player. He'd have value as a vetrin and is actually a productive player so he would have been great depth. But Montoyo F'd that up by playing him everyday even when he has an entire infield of top prospects at his disposal, and someone like Drury on the bench who needs more playing time to see if he's worth anything beyond this season. Now just do the same with Smoak and Buntoyo will have no choice but to play the youngsters. Another thing to keep in mind is that $5.5m for 1-2 WAR infielder is above market value, and the Jays would have been using him off the bench. I don't think Galvis was much of an asset.

    Yup. Ned Montoyost using the DH spot to get Galvis in the lineup everyday was ridiculous. 100% the right move by Atkins.

    The Jays are giving young players days off and/or using the DH spot to get Galvis in the lineup. I don't even want Galvis back next year if that's going to be the way Montoyo uses him.

    Montoyo is DH'ing Galvis nowadays, so can't really throw stones.

    Wow Mets with the comeback win. Might see Stro and Sanchez in the playoffs this year. Mets talent (rotation in particular) is legit.

    Hernandez looking a lot like Domingo Santana since coming back from the minors.

    Drury might have been safe there, but never know with NY.

    The Mets/Nats game with a playoff atmosphere in NY. Great to see a packed ballpark and excitement like that. (game currently tied 3-3 with Stro on the mound for the Mets).
