Agreed, which is why I didn't want the Jays to extend Giles when others were suggesting it (before Montoyo tried to kill him obviously). The FA market this winter has the potential to be very beneficial to teams with payroll flexibility and money to spend. The Jays should have both, unless Rogers is one of the owners who cries poor due to Covid. Betts was the only sure fire long term sign, but he's not on the market anymore. Probably going to see a bunch of one year deals, and/or players accepting the QO. I could also see a large group of non tenders as well.
As far as Stroman, conventional wisdom says he accepts the QO if offered, but he's got the JD/Jose mentality of being very full/sure of himself, so I could see him turning it down as well. In the end, after missing all of 2020, he's probably signing a one year deal either way.
