  1. Lineup out: Pennington out, Barney in.. still thinking Pennington has the yips:
  2. And we likely won't, because of Miller throwing 40 pitches. As much as Girardi needs this win, burning Miller for 40+ pitches when he's never thrown this many in a game as a reliever risks injury. Betances is also questionable because of workload (last night was his 68th appearance, 2 away from his career high, and approaching 80 IP). So the Yanks could be in trouble if they're close.. which is unlikely. Girardi probably burned Miller out because he knows Nova is going to get lit up hard vs. the Blue Jays.
  3. Good chance to win both Rays series. Tampa has not been the same team since the All-Star Break, going 27-33, as the bullpen overusage caught up to them, and they still aren't hitting (lowest scoring team in AL). And their offense is well below replacement level, as only Kiermaier, Forsythe and Longoria are the only threats in the lineup.
  4. And the Yanks are sending Nova out to the mound instead of Tanaka.. had Tanaka pitched this game, they'd be favored to win. Unfortunately, NL rules where pitchers bat caused Tanaka to injure himself.. which means Nova better pray for a good game tonight. If New York loses tonight, the Yanks AL East hopes go right out the window, as the Jays remaining schedule is very favorable, with an out of contention (and very tired) Rays team, a bad O's team, then the Rays at the stadium that needs to be condemned in St. Pete. Yanks get the White Sox (facing 3 lefties including Sale and Rodon), the Red Sox (tough series) and the Orioles.
  5. Hopefully Nova's ineptness will cure our offense's struggles tomorrow. We lit him up at Yankee Stadium recently.
  6. Could be a sign the Yanks bullpen trio of Wilson/Betances/Miller is showing signs of fatigue.. Betances is nearing his career high in appearances, after tonight's appearance (68th). And of course, Miller is lucky Greg Bird bailed him out in the 10th.
  7. Nope, they're still hitting. (.276/.355/.448, not including tonight in the last 7 days). They're still hitting... just not with RISP. And can we please stop pitching to Greg Bird? 10 HRs now.. projected to a full season of ABs, he's got 40 HR power!
  8. Good chance tomorrow. Nova has been terrible most of the 2nd half, and facing Stroman.
  9. Greg Bird is one of the Yanks top position player prospects, and considering how he dominated AAA, it's no surprise he is off to a strong start in the majors. So zip it.
  10. Well that was strange.. and here comes Hendriks now to face A-Rod. Are you happy now?
  11. You realize we're at home, and Hutch hasn't worked in a while.
  12. Norris out. Farmer in. Taken out due to pitch count. Sorry gang...
  13. Against a punchless White Sox team. They have Klay Thompson's brother batting 3rd with Melky batting cleanup.. that would never happen in Toronto.
  14. And if Yost continues this, he's going to cost KC top seed in the AL.. hope they like playing the Rangers (3-4 vs. them), or the Astros (2-4). Don't see the Royals getting out of the ALDS...
  15. Kawasaki is getting the start at 2B because Pennington may have the yips or something.. he's really off right now. Also announced, Aaron Sanchez has been demoted out of the 8th inning:
  16. Of course, those urinals (and the toilets) are expected to be replaced this offseason with automatic fixtures.. they already have them in the 100 level. Still, what an idiot! It's obvious that fan was drunk.
  17. Get lost you troll!
  18. Big week in the AL West, BTW: Rangers/A's: Perez vs. Martin (Rangers favorites) Lewis vs. Nolin (Rangers) Gallardo vs. Doubront (Rangers favored) The Rangers could basically seal the AL West with that series and clobbering Houston next weekend. Angels get the Astros: Weaver vs. Kuechel Santiago vs. McCullers TBA vs. Fiers Huge week ahead in the AL West and wild card..
  19. Mets will have a say in that.
  20. Jays magic number is going to be 5, as the Twins are destroying the Angels right now.
  21. Of course, what will the Yanks get out of Sabathia? BTW, the Yanks series starters are currently TBA.. Or they were... it's going to be Warren, Severino, Tanaka.
  22. Of course, if the Yanks lose the first two of the series and tonight's game, Tanaka could be pushed back if the Yanks have no shot at the division.
  23. Harvey/Sabathia later. Still a reasonable shot the Jays will stay at 3.5 out, especially if Sabathia is garbage. And BTW, the Yanks rotation for the series: Warren, Severino, and either Tanaka or Pineda.
  24. Can't blame Gibbons on this.. the Sox are actually a very good team offensively, and have improved immensely since they dumped Victorino and Napoli, and DLd HanRam. Pitching still is an issue there.. Onto the Yankees, who are a huge drop off offensively, especially away from the short porch at Yankee Stadium.
  25. Heads up play by Pillar!
