  1. I knew that. I was looking at the Jays in general.
  2. This is it. One Jays win and a Yankees loss wins us a trip to the ALDS. Have fun in the wild card game, Yankees fans. Now we need help from the White Sox..
  3. #1 seed gets us home field advantage through the World Series, and a date with either the Yankees or 2nd wild card team(Texas, Houston, LA or Minnesota). #2 seeds gets the AL West winner and home field for the ALDS.
  4. Pirates better study Arrieta well or they're not getting out of the wild card game next week.. suddenly, it's realistic to think the Cubs have a shot to go very deep into the postseason.. hopefully no Steve Bartman-types pop up.
  5. Apparently the Jays players know this, considering what they do every time he comes up. Wonder what they'll do with the FOX guys when the ALDS starts(FOX has broadcast rights, and will be doing the games.. no more Buck and Pat.)
  6. Indians lose. With an Astros win, that should put an end to any false hope of Cleveland making a postseason run. Still, they can spoil the Twins chances.. and the Astros go on the road to Seattle and Arizona to finish their schedule (29-46 on the road). Could be a interesting finish. And the Angels, with the Rangers losing, can make a run at a division title, as they have a 4-game set with the Rangers in Texas, who they dominate. First, they got to beat Seattle today.
  7. Yes. With a series with Pittsburgh coming up, a Pirates win tonight on Sunday Night Baseball would put Pittsburgh within 2 games, with a shot to catch the Cardinals with a sweep.
  8. Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal just imploded, giving up a grand slam to Jason Rogers...don't the Cards realize that the Pirates could catch them this week?
  9. And in a few more days, the Jays will be celebrating their AL East title on their field, especially once the Red Sox destroy the Yanks pitching staff.
  10. Red Sox probables for the Yanks: Ed-Rod vs. Nova Rick Porcello vs. TBA(Pineda?) Wade Miley vs. TBA(Sabathia?) Rich Hill vs. TBA(Warren?) Jays could clinch the AL East during the O's series.. none of the pitching matchups favor the Yankees. Tanaka is not expected to pitch this series, and his AL Wild Card start is uncertain due to his hamstring injury.
  11. DOn't worry, the Red Sox will pummel the Yankees tomorrow.. we've seen them do a number on the O's this weekend.
  12. The Rays could be scary next year.. but they won't if ownership blows up the team, which is likely to happen. With huge payroll spikes coming in 2017 and 2018, expect the Rays to start taking offers on some of their players about to get expensive.. they can't afford to boost payroll with a 30th ranked attendance.
  13. What those people forgot was in 2013 is that we had JP Arencibia as catcher and 2B/SS defense was terrible.. look how much better it is now with Tulo/Goins/Pennington/Barney and when healthy, Travis.
  14. A few reasons: 1. Injuries to many regulars--Span, Rendon, Zimmerman, Strasburg 2. Fister imploding, unreliable bullpen. 3. Nobody other than Harper providing anything (Yunel Escobar was 2nd in batter WAR with 2.4 WAR. There was HUGE regression with many of the same players who helped the Nats make the playoffs) 4. Ian Desmond being a defensive nightmare at SS (27 errors). And you thought Reyes was bad.. 5. Ugly bench.. outside of Taylor and Robinson, who were forced into everyday duty due to injury, they got basically nothing from their bench players. 6. Way too many strikeouts..Taylor and Desmond being major offenders. Expect huge changes in Washington.. including Williams getting fired, unless the Nats front office is as clueless as the Tigers (who are bringing Ausmus back next season).
  15. With a burned out pen sans Greg Holland due to pending TJS, and middle to back end rotation starters in the rotation, and a struggling Cueto, they're destined to get bounced in the ALDS by the Rangers/Astros/Angels, while the Jays likely get the Yankees, who will burn Tanaka in the wild card game, or the Astros with Keuchel.. and if the Twins get in, that series could be very quick, as that rotation is awful.
  16. Potentially fatal blow to the Astros playoff hopes if Altuve is knocked out due to a concussion.. it would all but guarantee one of the Angels/Twins/Indians making the playoffs.
  17. Rays lineup--Guyer vs. a RHP, and JPA catching.
  18. Plus, Donaldson is DHing to give him a long overdue day off the field.
  19. Or he'll strike out a ton. He's .083/.083/.083 (not a joke!) in his last 12 ABs, and .192/.222/.192 in his last 27 PAs (8 games). Most of his numbers can't be taken with a grain of salt due to small sample size. He's the same bad player that got run out of town by Toronto media (especially Gregg Zaun).
  20. Don't forget to boo our old friend JP Arencibia this series. Still a terrible defensive catcher with zero plate discipline. With Rene Rivera struggling, Casali shut down and Luke Maile having zero bat, expect to see a lot of him.
  21. Matt Moore has improved since his return from AAA. Matt Andriese is only getting the call because the Rays want to give Moore rest, and not risk starting Blake Snell's arb clock until 2016(he's next on the depth chart), plus Nate Karns is shut down for the season due to a forearm strain.
  22. No Matt Moore for the Jays series. Matt Andriese will pitch vs. Buehrle on Sunday, as Moore is getting extra rest due to the fact he is returning from TJS. So our chances of winning the series have improved. Odorizzi tonight, Archer Saturday still. As for the coming series, Odorizzi has not been good in the 2nd half (4.56 ERA, 1.28 WHIP), with his August and September being mediocre. How the Rays do vs. Dickey is another question.. he has pitched reliably vs. the Rays this season, outside of the Apr. 24th start, which featured several players no longer in the Rays organization or on the DL, like Desmond Jennings, David DeJesus and Jake Elmore.. Chris Archer has struggled this month so far, with his walk rate surging and strikeouts dropping, albeit facing the Yanks and Red Sox. Still, they could be in tough vs. Price. Andriese hasn't started since July.. could be ugly for the Rays.
  23. Do you have to be so negative? Toronto is 4-2 vs. the Rays since that 1-6 start vs. them. And of course, we've owned the O's this season. 5-5 at least, possibly as good as 7-3. Tulo's expected back in the O's or Rays series, BTW.
  24. What's Girardi going to do for the 8th? Betances had to throw a lot of pitches in the 7th. He doesn't have a lot of guys he can trust.
  25. And Betances walks in a run! Shows that Girardi has overused him WAY too much.
