  1. Devers and not much else after Moncada and Benintendi graduate. Kopech and Groome are too far off, and most of their prospects after those three don't project as MLB regulars.
  2. False--why do you think they were forced to make those trades in 2012 when the team wasn't going anywhere? Boston has financial limits..
  3. Stop it. Red Sox won't be good if they don't get pitching.. and the ownership cheaps out again with Betts/Bogaerts/Bradley, just like they did with Damon and Ellsbury when they get to free agency. And their farm is barren in the higher levels with pitching..
  4. True. Rays at home (who have been awful on the road) and the Angels on the road, who have started sliding again.. we need to take advantage. Mariners series is a tough call... Boston and Baltimore play each other.. if we can beat Tampa, let's hope the O's beat Boston..
  5. Please hope we beat Tampa and LA... this series was ugly.
  6. Hopefully not the Jays--he doesn't deserve that kind of money or years.
  7. At least the Jays rotation will be basically intact next year--it's trying to resign EE/Bautista/Saunders or finiding equivalents that's the issue, along with supplementing the pen. The reason I mentioned the O's was to show their team has a bleaker future than what you say about Toronto.
  8. If you think it's bad here after this season--imagine how bad Baltimore is going to be after this season. Machado's 2 years from free agency and their ownership isn't going to spend to keep Trumbo and Wieters, and may actually have to deal Tillman and/or Britton due to their escalating salaries and that awful Chris Davis deal.. and that team has imploded itself, struggling to hold off the Yanks (1 game up now) and tied with the Tigers. And with a poor farm system, the future is bleak for the O's... and after 2017 could get really ugly (Tillman's a free agent, as is Hardy, Miley and Gallardo..)
  9. Why can't we get a hit with RISP???
  10. YES! Devon Travis with a 2 run single! Now time to make it rain!
  11. DOn't screw this up Travis! Chance to tie the game..
  12. Pillar better be bunting here.. chance for a big inning.
  13. WTF is going on? Estrada's off and Upton missing that catch in LF...
  14. Estrada left that up a little to Pedroia.
  15. Wrong--that young cheap talent is set to get expensive starting this offseason: -Bogaerts is arb eligible after this season and expected to get a significant raise, as is Bradley (Super 2) and Holt. And Betts is on track to get a Trout level contract by the time he's arb eligible. -Shaw is not the 3B of the future--Rafael Devers is. Shaw is likely to be dealt for pitching help, possibly this offseason -Sandy Leon is a flash in the pan and won't keep this up--Christian Vazquez is the long term catcher in Boston. -Moncada is at least a year away from being an option for Boston, as shown by his poor start at the MLB level--he's likely AAA bound next year, providing he isn't traded in a package for a SP, which is a very good possibility, especially after his poor start at the MLB level. -Pomeranz isn't a long-term piece for Boston--Sox overpaid him for a surprising year in San Diego, similar to what they did with Aaron Hill (an awful trade). And his salary is expected to surge to $7-10M/year in arb this offseason, plus he's not young.. -Holt is a trade candidate, as he isn't really a long-term piece, and doesn't hit for enough power to be a regular, and will be blocked at LF by Benintendi and 3B by Shaw/Sandoval and eventually Devers. Plus they have a cheaper option in Marco Hernandez in their system. In addition, they need bullpen arms in the worst way--Ziegler, Tazawa and Uehara are gone after this season, Ross, Abad and Kelly are non-tender candidates. -They can't buy talent--payroll is unsustainably high for Boston, especially when they've given so many bad contracts to Sandoval, HanRam, Castillo, Craig.. and Price is going to decline. John Henry's not gonna give another big contract, especially when he needs to resign Bogaerts and Betts soon, both expected to get $250-300M/10 years deals, and they owe $160M+ to just 7 players. They need to focus on Betts/Bogaerts, as failing to resign them means they'll end up on the Yankees or Dodgers in 2020/2021.. remember Damon and Ellsbury? And the pipeline is set to get very dry--they have nothing in the farm system close to MLB ready after Moncada/Benintendi. Devers is 2 years away, and they have few, if any high end prospects after those 3. And the pitching pipeline has nothing.. Owens, Ball and Johnson are busts, and Kopech/Groome are raw and far away.
  16. Bautista isn't getting 3/75. He's looking at 1 year for $10-15M + incentives(at best). No team will give him $25M with his decline with the bat and the glove. Edwin will likely resign with Toronto--Boston isn't paying $25M a year for Edwin considering how much payroll is already on their books and not wanting to block several top prospects. And Saunders is borderline.. everyone else will likely be gone.
  17. Boston is not assured to make the postseason--they've been mediocre vs. Toronto and Baltimore. Plus, the Yankees won a series earlier in the summer.. and the race is far from over. However, for teams like the Astros, the end could come this weekend (big series vs. the Cubs then the Rangers, who the Astros are frequently dominated by.)
  18. Seriously, any team should be beating the Padres--San Diego is a bad team. I still feel the Jays will rebound vs. the Sox--Boston is not good against contending teams (43-40 vs. teams over .500) and are the weakest team in the AL East vs. contending teams in the AL East.. they've mostly fattened up on the dregs of the league.. they're mediocre vs. the Jays and O's, and the Yankees beat Boston last time.
  19. At this point, they're a serious threat.. 7 games left vs. Boston and 7 to fatten up on the Rays. Only real danger is a 3 game set with the Dodgers..
  20. Yankees are 21-13 since the trades.. and they've done damage to not just the Jays, but the Red Sox, Royals, Indians and Mariners. And they took 2/3 from the O's at home recently.. and they have a good shot to not only fatten up with so many Rays games, but they could be a serious threat to the Red Sox's division, wild card and playoff hopes.
  21. Tie game. Price is not looking that great tonight vs. this Padres team..
  22. Suddenly, the Yankees are threatening for the division instead of just a wild card. And they've still got many games vs. the Red Sox..
  23. Let's actually wait until Boston finishes playing San Diego before doing that.. Someone needs to take the fall for this 3-6 road trip.. we can't afford losses like this.
