    Kipnis will not be ready for Opening Day (shoulder). Considering he was 3rd on the Indians in runs scored and one of their better hitters, this would be a significant blow to Cleveland if he misses significant time.

    US only has 3 arms left in the pen--Robertson, Miller and Jake McGee. How much longer can the US hold out before they have to consider using a position player to pitch, espcially considering WBC rules? Can't afford to use Stroman or Duffy..

    Oakland and Toronto made out well dealing Lawrie: OAK got Graveman and Barreto out of the deal (Nolin will likely never play in the majors again with all the injuries, plus he's no longer in the A's org.). They also got JB Wendelken.. who is unproven, and non-prospect Zack Erin.. Jays got 2 ALCS trips and a MVP award for Donaldson.. Jays won the trade by a mile, though the A's might get something if Barreto pans out.

    If only Lawrie could stay healthy.. and BTW, his defense sucks. The only way the Jays should even have interest in him is if Travis isn't healthy..

    If David Price undergoes TJS, not only do the Jays chances improve, but the AL East becomes wide open--with even the Yankees, O's and Rays having a chance. Boston's pitching depth is very lacking, with Pomeranz having elbow concerns, Wright still uncertain after Farrell's stupidity to pinch-run and a regression candidate, and E-Rod's knee.. and AAA is basically barren of quality options, as Henry Owens still can't throw strikes, Elias and Kendrick are AAAA types, and Johnson's still working his way back from anxiety issues. And don't expect a trade--Boston does not have many assets after the Sale and Thornburg deals.

    Take Price out and the AL East is wide open.. he's not the only pitcher in Boston with injury risk, with Sale (elbow injury risk due to delivery), Pomeranz (elbow), Wright (elbow due to pinch-running) and E-Rod (knee). Losing Price would be devastating to Boston.. there's basically nothing to AAA to replace him, and Boston lacks assets to make a trade for a guy like Quintana, as their farm was drained by Sale and Thornburg's deals.

    At this point, he has a good shot... Loup is doing everything to get sent to the minors, as we've already seen.

    It's going to come back to bite them after 2018.. so many backloaded deals will lead to a very bad team in 2019.. Scherzer, Strasburg, Zimmerman have huge numbers to be paid out in 2019, and they lose Harper and Murphy after 2018.
