  1. MLB predictions according to CBSSports, and Heyman is an idiot: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24502591/2014-mlb-cbssportscom-expert-predictions C'mon, the Orioles? That team's predicted to finish last according to Fangraphs and PECOTA. Jays are a tough call.. but Fangraphs and PECOTA expects them to finish 3rd or 4th, because of the Yankees expected to be awful due to age, a terrible infield, and questions regarding the pitching rotation and bullpen, even with Tanaka, who is basically just replacing Pettite. The team's no better with Tanaka.
  2. Before you freak out, Bautista was probably not scheduled for more than 4 innings today, as this is the last Florida game before the regular season starts for the Jays (not including the exhibition games in Montreal).
  3. 1-2-3 for Hutch again.. and gotta love that Phillie Phanatic there..currently the only good thing on the Phils roster.
  4. Regarding RA Dickey's poor performance, it was more due to the strong wind today (15 mph) going left to right, which affected Dickey's knuckleball. He won't have this problem in his first 2 starts in Tampa and Toronto, with the roof closed in Toronto.
  5. Unless Bud Selig decides Tropicana Field is no longer suitable for baseball.. with grass coming to the Rogers Centre once the Argos move out, it's a possibility. And the 29 other owners are going to cut off Tampa Bay if they don't see improvement in that team's attendance or progress in a new stadium.
  6. Well, that's true. We all remember the story about the Astros last year supposing to be very profitable.. when they weren't.
  7. http://www.forbes.com/mlb-valuations/#page:1_sort:0_direction:asc_search: 2014 rankings, with the Yankees on top again, and the Dodgers 2nd. 10 of the teams are losing money, including the Yankees, Blue Jays and Dodgers. And you wonder why the Yanks refuse to go after Stephen Drew.
  8. What's shocking is that Claiborne actually did a good job last year with the Yankees.. guess the league got the book on him.
  9. True. He would've been out after this inning anyway, as the Jays are teeing off on Claiborne, who has pretty much booked his ticket to Scranton Wilkes-Barre's Railriders (AAA).
  10. Looks like Preston Claiborne won't be making the Yanks bullpen..the Jays are just teeing off on him, and have tied the game at 6.
  11. With those ticket sales, it'll almost guarantee MLB will consider Montreal in the future for a team, providing they get a new stadium on the way, considering the league will not continue to support the Tampa Bay Rays and Oakland A's stadium issues, especially Tampa Bay's. BTW, another case for a team in Montreal.. Tampa Bays ranked in Forbes as the MLB's least valuable team. And if that's not bad enough, unlike the Jays, the Rays home opener isn't even sold out! http://tbo.com/sports/rays/rays-triple-play-opener-not-sold-out-yet-20140325/ Time to move to Montreal.. I can imagine the owners are probably thinking about it.
  12. Thought I'd mention our old friend Kelly Johnson, despite a decent bat in spring training, is butchering 3B quite a bit, with 5 errors this spring, including 2 tonight. No wonder scouts are considering the Yanks infield the worst in MLB defensively..
  13. And if Darvish's injury is serious, they'll have the same record as the 2013 Jays as well. They're basically a .500 team as is, pending what happens with Darvish.
  14. Baseball's most snake-bitten teams: http://www.sbnation.com/2014/3/25/5545792/injuries-baseball-team-list-rangers-braves-padres-athletics Rangers, Padres and Braves fans probably are feeling the same concerns Jays fans had in 2013.. especially considering the Rangers and Braves were supposed to contend. If Darvish is out long-term, the Rangers could easily be a 4th place team, especially with Oakland, LA and Seattle ahead of them. Braves are lucky the NL East is weak outside of they and Washington. No idea on the Padres, though..
  15. Well, it looks like McGowan's going to get the chance, after Rogers and Happ have basically booked tickets to the waiver wire/DFA limbo, although Rogers could still end up in the bullpen, depending if Jeffress makes the team or not.
  16. Not Walker's fault. Rogers and Happ are just bad pitchers.
  17. Tabata homers off Rogers. Looks like Rogers is out too.. I think we know who's making the team now.
  18. 20.57 ERA for Happ. If he isn't DFAd by the end of today, something is wrong in the Jays org.
  19. Based on today, it's a two-horse race between McGowan and Redmond (although Redmond could be stashed in the bullpen as a long man.)
  20. And FINALLY John Gibbons yanks Happ out.. have fun in Buffalo or the unemployment line, where Happ's headed.
  21. Someone put Happ out his misery.. this is getting ridiculous. DL him, DFA him, try to send him to Buffalo, release him, do something!
  22. If only Wandy could stay healthy.. at least he's not the flaming pile of garbage Edison Volquez is on that Pirates team.
  23. Now Wandy is in trouble, giving up a HR, single and BB. And Tuiasosopo just homered off him.
  24. Happ was once a good pitcher in the Phillies org.. I remember when he fought against AAAA pitcher Brad Mills a few years back. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TOR/TOR200906270.shtml How the heck did he beat us back in 2009?? How come he turned into flaming garbage?
