  1. Now 5-2 as Mujica continues to melt down.. they gave all that money for this?
  2. So, after one series the Jays are 2-2. We're walking too many batters, but mostly inflated by Dickey's bad start and heavy use of Jeffress/Rogers. Does AA even want them here, or is he trying to get them to Buffalo when Janssen comes off the DL, possibly within the next week or two? And Todd Redmond has been rotting in the bullpen all week.. will we see him this weekend? We should be lucky we split against the Rays.. these Rays are difficult, as usual. They did pitch us well, as usual. Luckily, Hutchison and Buehrle outpitched them.
  3. I don't know.. but NYY's performance in Houston left something to be desired. Had Houston had a competent offense that could score consistently (they had 5 walks off of Nova!), they could've easily swept the Yanks. They will not have this luxury in Toronto. They didn't even hit a HR in Houston, which is typcally a launching pad like Toronto, and many of their big money bats (Ellsbury, Beltran, Tex, Soriano) were awful in the Astros series.
  4. Of course, even if the Yanks pitch well, their bats have been awful to start the year, striking out a ton and not driving in a lot of runs. Considering the lack of offense in Houston, there's no idea how this series goes. Tanaka is still a wild card, as this will be his first MLB start. Pineda hasn't pitched a game since 2011 or 2012, and Sabathia is basically a meatball thrower now with his high-80s fastballs.
  5. Mostly inflated by two blowout games sandwiched by two strong pitching performances. Of course, this is a typical Rays team.. they always swarm at you with their plate discipline, high walk totals and timely hitting, to go with their strong pitching. We should be lucky to have gone 2-2. For the Rays though, they'd better be a little more consistent vs. Texas. Strangely enough, I wonder if Gibbons is trying to burn out Rogers and Jeffress so they can get outrighted to Buffalo.. they were used twice in this series.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised. Especially when they're using Jeffress in mop-up duty. As soon as Janssen returns, Jeffress likely gets outrighted to Buffalo.
  7. Put him against the Jays, Red Sox, Orioles, or any other offensive team and he wouldn't have gotten 3 innings. Not to mention that the middle of the Yanks order is hot garbage (tons of 0fers). Houston's awful pitching is making Ichiro and Solarte look like All-stars..
  8. Not even close. It's only April! And the Yanks, despite winning in Houston tonight, are really struggling to score, to the point career minor-leaguer Yongervis Solarte is in the lineup.. but he has 3 hits and an RBI. But the Yankees should be blowing out Houston.. why aren't they?
  9. Rays attendance tonight was a whopping 9,571. Is this Tampa or a early 2000s Expos game during Loria's tenure? Pathetic for a winning team.. Yankees may not be as hard as Tampa. New York struggles even against bad teams like Houston, even though they're winning tonight (so far, but only 3-2.) Hey, at least we're splitting vs. Tampa.. considering the nightmares we've had here, that's not so bad.
  10. BTW, here's the Rays lineup back then: Crawford LF Zobrist SS Baldelli CF Pena 1B Delmon Young RF Iwamura 3B Navarro C Elijah Dukes CF BJ Upton 2B BENCH Jonny Gomes OF Wigginton 1B/3B Paul C Greg Norton DH Cantu 1B/2B/3B
  11. FYI, regarding the last time the Jays beat the Rays at the dump/House of Horrors/aka Tropicana Field, here's who played: Reed Johnson LF Overbay 1B Wells CF Frank Thomas (HOF) DH Rios RF Hill 2B Zaun C Clayton SS Troy Glaus 3B BENCH Jason Smith INF Jason Phillips C Johnny Mac 3B/SS Matt Stairs 1B/OF Janssen was the setup man at the time for BJ Ryan. For the Rays, Navarro is now on the other team, and Zobrist is the only one left from the 2007 team.
  12. 11,056 at the White Sox game today.. will the Rays outdraw them?
  13. In addition, David Dejesus has also been moved to DH from LF. New lineup: Dejesus DH Jennings CF Zobrist 2B Longoria 3B Loney 1B Forsythe LF Joyce RF Hanigan C Escobar SS
  14. Tampa Bay radio and TV people are ripping the Rays fans for NOT attending the Rays games, such as this podcast on 620 WDAE.. http://www.620wdae.com/media/podcast-steve-duemig-podcast-steveduemig_01/jay-mohr-wtkras-4314-24576186/ And they don't think Montreal's an MLB market.. not realizing that it was Loria that ruined the team and lost their English TV deal.
  15. And they're going to 14.. but I'm not.
  16. Morrow vs. Archer tomorrow. Can we finally win a series in Tampa? Possibly.. the Rays offense has been pathetic.. not even a HR yet. And when they can't draw walks, they can't win.
  17. Yes. Of course, we'll see what happens when they face a real team in the Oakland A's. The Angels, like the Phillies, are a train wreck with no hope anytime soon.
  18. And they're going to 13 in Pittsburgh.
  19. Tied again in Pittsburgh. 3-3 now as Veras melts down.
  20. Holy moley are the Angels bad... when are heads going to roll in L.A.? Oh, and the Yanks lost again to Houston. Makes you wonder what they'll do in Toronto.. if they can't hit bad Astros pitching, they're in big trouble.
  21. Papelbon just walked the Texas Rangers into a win by walking Choo.. what a fall from grace for Papelbon.
  22. Papelbon blows a save on a hit by Leonys Martin. BTW, 0-3 with a K for JPA, just got PHd for Jim Aducci.
  23. Boni now playing SS after Barney came in on a double-switch. Eww..
  24. Chicago and Pittsburgh are SO pathetic offensively... 2-2 going into the 11th. In other news, Yangervis Solarte made his MLB debut, and grounded into a DP.
