  1. It's official.. Nova needs Tommy John Surgery. We'll see him in 2015.. likely with another club, as he will almost certainly be non-tendered after this. Bryan Hoch Yankees announce that surgery has been recommended for RHP Ivan Nova (partial tear of right UCL). Another Yankees developed pitcher bites the dust..
  2. Interestingly enough, he's played a little 2B as well.
  3. Unless some of the players appeal. Otherwise, the suspensions will start tonight.
  4. Former and now current Jay Darrin Mastroianni has been claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays from the Twins. He's been sent to AAA Buffalo for the time being. Makes you wonder whether Sierra's days are numbered, especially if the Jays decide to promote Gose. OF Kenny Wilson was DFAd in a corresponding move. He'll likely clear, as his AA numbers have been terrible (.210/.239/.306, 18/0 K/BB ratio).
  5. I wouldn't be so sure. Something is wrong with Buchholz, as his stuff has declined significantly compared to last season. Last year he was unhittable, this year he's been hit around frequently.
  6. He'll be lucky to avoid an outright release if he keeps hitting like this, and continuing to be the worst defending catcher in baseball.
  7. By DER(defensive efficiency ratio), Jays are only behind the Rays. Seattle is #1 in the AL, followed by Oakland. Cleveland and Boston are bringing up the rear, because Boston really needs Victorino back, and misses Ellsbury, and need Middlebrooks to return soon. Losing Drew doesn't help either. Cleveland is more due to awful left side of infield of Santana and Cabrera.
  8. Actually, the O's defense has been pretty clean. But today's game puts their D in a tie with the Jays, Rays and Yankees. Surprisingly, Houston has the #1 defense. Too bad the pitching and offense is awful.. Singleton can't come soon enough.
  9. BTW, tomorrow's Red Sox/O's game is an 11:00 game, just a reminder, for Patriots Day/Easter Monday/Boston Marathon day.
  10. Lough just airmailed a throw past Schoop, costing the O's the game.. and for some stupid reason, Showalter thought Pedroia didn't tag the bag at 3rd.. even though replays show Pedroia tagged. O's deserved to lose this game.. especially after blowing a big lead.
  11. At the rate Bryant is going he'll be in the majors by September.
  12. Well, Peavy just gave up 3 already. Guess those FIP numbers are legit.. Peavy's ERA under 2 before today's game was deceiving(4.63 FIP). Luckily, Jimenez is even worse.. this could be a very high scoring game.
  13. Definitely BS because of that stupid gift call by the umpire and Loup's unexpected control issues today. Hey, if it's bad here.. imagine the anger on the Yanks board right now due to their bullpen meltdowns in the last 2 games.
  14. Agreed. Drew should sign with the Tigers NOW. It's unbelievable he's still unsigned well into late April.
  15. More likely Nuno. They have basically nothing in the minors worth calling up. However, with Daley's DFA, they do have an open spot on the 40.
  16. Yanks depth is so thin, they're rushing Bryan Mitchell from AA Trenton(#14 prospect in the Yanks system). But they don't have a lot of arms available, especially considering their AAA arms are AAAA vets or bad/non prospects. Wonder if Mitchell gets lit up as bad as Sean Nolin last year when we rushed him from AA? Of course, it'll depend how Nuno pitches. Preston Claiborne's going up too.. that means a Nova DL stint and a Daley DFA or option to AAA, or Betances getting sent down.
  17. Dean Anna should take lessons from RA Dickey if he's going to throw knuckleballs..
  18. And now Dean Anna is pitching.. this oughta be fun.
  19. Right elbow soreness for Ivan Nova. See you in 2015.. I sense TJS in his future.
  20. Ryan Braun hits a go-ahead HR off of closer Jason Grilli of the Pirates. Everything's coming up roses for Milwaukee.
  21. CJ Riefenhauser making his MLB debut.. good thing he has 13 runs to work with!
  22. Looks like Ike Davis is fitting well in his new home, going 2-3. His Pirates are beating the Brewers 7-6.
  23. Henderson Alvarez shut out the hapless Mariners on a 2-hitter.. with his stuff tonight, he almost had a no-hitter again.
  24. More likely it'll be John Ryan Murphy or Scott Sizemore pitching by the 8th.. heck maybe even Anna or Solarte.
  25. 14-1 Rays. Didn't the Jays have a few of these games last year?
