  1. As much as tonight's game has stunk for the Jays, the Yankees are having equally bad problems with the Angels, who have put up 8 on Kuroda in 4.2 IP. Pujols now has 9 HRs on the season.
  2. AJ Griffin headed for Tommy John.
  3. Jays signed former Red Sox/Mariner/D-Back Ryan Rowland-Smith to a minors deal. Could this mean a Stroman callup is coming?
  4. If this were the 2013 Red Sox, maybe. But this is not the same team. Not one regular is hitting .300, and they have multiple regulars hitting .250 or less. The pitching isn't much better.
  5. Move McGowan to the pen, where he belongs, and get Stroman up here. He's got nothing left to prove in AAA.
  6. Kuroda's peripherals are all down this season so far. As for Sabathia, his current numbers are unsustainable with his FIP well in the 4s. Keep in mind he was pitching against a punchless Red Sox offense with only Napoli and Bogaerts producing. Remember, Boston's outfield doesn't hit, and even Pedroia is struggling.
  7. Regarding the Yanks, it will depend what happens once the league catches up with Tanaka, and whether their bats stay healthy. Remember also that Nova is gone for the year, Pineda still has question marks, and there are regression issues with Sabathia and Kuroda. And BTW, the Yanks offense isn't actually that great.
  8. Boston has serious problems, and you've got to wonder if huge changes come to Boston if they lose 2 of 3 or get swept by the Blue Jays. Losing Jacoby Ellsbury, Salty and Stephen Drew has hurt a lot more than thought. 10-13 is not a good thing. None of their outfield is hitting, with Gomes, Bradley, Sizemore all posting low .200 averages. Only Napoli is hitting, and Bogaerts is hitting (but with zero power). Even Ortiz is struggling. And their rotation is near the bottom of the AL in multiple categories. Peavy, Buchholz and Doubront have significantly regressed this year, and Lackey has been inconsistent. Only Lester is pitching well. Their run differential is 2nd worst in the AL (Houston is the worst at -35, followed by Boston at -17). So Jays fans need to realize it could be a lot worse.. we could be the Red Sox right now.
  9. Not pitching well either, as Carp has walked 4 so far.
  10. Mike Carp now pitching for the Red Sox in a 13-5 game.
  11. And how much coverage of the Heat do we see on ESPN? That's all they seem to talk about. It's like they want LeBron to get a 3rd ring.
  12. People, we're at .500! It's early in the season, and we're headed into a light part of the schedule. I mean, Baltimore has been hot since that Yankees series a few weeks ago.
  13. And I can imagine ESPN/TNT is really not liking what's happening with the Pacers and Thunder. Anyone else facing the Heat in later rounds unless it's Brooklyn is ratings poison in the US. And they definitely don't want the Spurs in the finals.
  14. That darn BABIP of the Orioles.. almost 5 runs a game for those O's right now. Hopefully the Royals pitching can shut them down.
  15. Well, at least when we face Boston, the Sox bullpen will be heavily taxed.. it can only go up from here..
  16. Not when the Red Sox offense can't score, even against bad Yankees pitchers. Outside of Napoli and Ortiz, no one is hitting.. and they just sent Nava down. Clean inning by Redmond there. Let's pick up a few runs.
  17. BTW, Boston is making a mess at Fenway right now.. 12-2 Yankees. 5 errors tonight, BTW.. near the bottom of the AL in defense. Meanwhile, we've picked up a run.. and Redmond's coming in. 11-4.. At least they're trying to go down swinging.. if they can get a few runs, it'd be an accomplishment ahead of the Boston series.
  18. After this series, the schedule lightens up, with a struggling Red Sox team, a punchless Royals team, and struggling Pirates and Phillies squads. We don't get a decent team until May 9th vs. the Angels.
  19. Hey, if it's bad here, imagine how much they're complaining in Boston about how their Red Sox are struggling. But still, this has been a difficult series for the Jays. Luckily, we won't see the O's again until June.
  20. And you wonder how Boston felt when they were playing Baltimore this past weekend.. this O's team can hit! Now if they could get some reasonable pitching from someone other than Tillman and Norris.. BTW, if you think Boston is a dangerous team, think again. That Red Sox team is struggling badly. Peavy and Buchholz, this weekend's starters, have FIP well into awful territory north of 4.70. And don't ask about the defense, which has regressed badly. And they can't score either, ranking near the bottom of the AL in runs scored/game. And might as well DFA Rogers. I think they're trying to make Rogers take one for the team so that he'll be easier to outright to Buffalo.
  21. Another Tommy John surgery. Anthony Andro ‏@aandro Dr. Keith Meister saw Pedro Figueroa today. Rangers lefty has torn UCL and damage to flexor tendon. Likely to have TJ surgery next week
  22. Jays aren't alone with an 8 man pen right now. Yankees are joining them, as they had to call up fresh arms in Shane Greene and Bruce Billings(purchased contract) thanks to Pineda's ejection last night. Dean Anna got sent to AAA.. guess he won't be pitching any games in the majors for a while.
  23. I expect changes soon. Nolin and Stroman are tearing up Buffalo right now, with Nolin the favourite for a callup (1.08 WHIP, 2.70 ERA, 21/7 K/BB ratio). Stroman still needs a little more polish, due to his walks.
  24. I expect him to get more because he pulled this stunt in a previous start vs. the Red Sox this season. I knew he was due for regression.. but I didn't know he was a cheater.
