With Abreu's HR and RBI numbers with the White Sox, he's almost certain to win. But it begs a question.. should players who played in Japanese and Cuban leagues be permitted to win Rookie of the Year? If they weren't allowed, Stroman would have this hands down.

Agreed. Joc Pederson is wasting his talent in AAA Albequerque. He belongs in the majors, but the Dodgers have too many OFs as is with Crawford/Kemp/Ethier/Van Slyke/Puig.

Kemp is out of his mind. A -16.4 UZR shows he belongs in the DH or 1B spot if he goes to the AL, and nowhere near the OF. Matt Kemp's defensive numbers have been dropping steadily since 2011. At least he still hits and walks at a decent clip, unlike Uggla.

Wonder if they complain about artificial turf in the NFL, which is a heavy user of it.

At the time, it was necessary, because Stroman was in AA, and Hutch was recovering from Tommy John surgery, and Sanchez was still in A ball. Jays fans at the time didn't want to wait until 2014-2015 for those pitchers to come up. Casual fans don't have the patience. BTW, Nicolino and Syndergaard aren't close to the majors this season, as neither is expected to reach the majors until 2015(Syndergaard) or later, in Nicolino's case(he's in AA still) However, we should have kept Henderson Alvarez..although it's unknown how he'd do in the AL if he had stayed. FYI, Desclafani, who we also traded, did get to the majors, but with poor results. Otherwise, you're right that we should have kept the guys we traded..

True. But O's ownership will not take on anymore payroll, as they're already maxed out, and face losing JJ Hardy, Nelson Cruz and Nick Markakis this offseason, and face a rapidly closing window to win a World Series, as Davis and Wieters hit free agents after 2015. Luckily, they have Jones and Machado to build around..but their farm leaves a little to be desired for position players.

He of the 4.46 FIP/4.76 xFIP/4.82 SIERA? That screams #4/#5 starter at best. Put him vs. the Angels, A's or Tigers in a postseason series and it'll be a short series for the O's.

Certainly Baltimore can do better than this. Burnett's been mediocre in Philly this year, and sending him back to the AL is asking for trouble. Baltimore needs an ace, not mid-to back end rotation guys like Burnett.
