  1. This Tigers team is badly struggling offensively. Sanchez is going to need a good outing. And we're not the Rockies. Don't expect him to dominate the same way he did last time vs. Colorado.
  2. Since the trade, Headley's hitting .267/.333/.417. Prado, on the other hand, is struggling, hitting .217/.280/.391.
  3. Hech and Escobar haven't exactly lit it up for their teams. In fact, Escobar is in serious decline in Tampa. And we saw Marisinick get traded to Houston, because they have enough OF in their system. We had to make these trades.. the fanbase was whining back in 2012 because of our terrible pitching. And Alvarez wouldn't be as good in the AL.
  4. PTI just tore the Tigers for their offensive struggles. And even with their strong pitching, they forgot to mention how awful the Tigers bullpen is.
  5. And he's facing his former team in the Indians. Expect him to get lit up.
  6. At least Olerud isn't owed $225M like Votto and threatening to cripple a franchise like Votto will to the Reds. Terrible, terrible deal.
  7. Except Happ doesn't suck like Josh Towers, and doesn't serve up 88-89 MPH meatballs like Towers did(*cough 2006 cough*)
  8. Definitely. We do need to keep him around, in case we decide to trade Dickey or Buehrle in the offseason.
  9. If they had been able to keep Clemens, the Jays might've made the playoffs back in 1999 or 2000.
  10. Especially trading Clemens to the Yankees.. NEVER trade a top pitcher in division. If Gord Ash had a brain then, someone like Atlanta, NY Mets and others would have won a World Series back then during Clemens' time with the Yankees, because he would've probably traded Clemens elsewhere.
  11. What you suggest equals suspensions and fines in the MLB. That's just a dumb idea. Umpires will eject players if they feel the hitting of opposing batters is intentional.
  12. Ownership was a mess back then (frigging Interbrew!). Those who complain about Rogers don't realize how close this franchise came to moving to the US back in the late 90s/early 2000s. Not to mention the stadium issues back then as well (the stadium's owners went into bankruptcy)
  13. And this probably explains why AA refused to trade anybody at the deadline this year.. wanting to avoid the same mistake Gord Ash made.
  14. Still better than the zero flexibility the Yankees will have on payroll (without paying luxury tax), and facing having to resign their closer, find a SS, several SP, a 2B, and arb raises. They're already at $168.768M for 10 players. Considering the Yanks cut payroll to $209M (including taxes), they don't have a lot of room, especially with teams like the Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers, etc. expected to be agressive in FA.
  15. Dan Johnson, Steve Delabar and Mastro are non-tender candidates. Morrow won't be back. Santos is likely gone, as will likely McGowan.
  16. Oh quit it. Have you even seen how the Tigers have played lately (outside of Colorado and Arizona, who are so awful, they make bad offenses look like the '27 Yankees) They're not a good team, and are in serious danger of destroying their playoff chances with a declining offense and horrid bullpen offsetting the starting pitching.
  17. Now about the Tigers series.. despite their strong pitching, their offense has been awful except for a series vs. Colorado, which inflates offenses all the time with their terrible pitching. 2nd half stats: .254/.306/.372., 158/48 K/BB ratio August stats: .244/.295/.383. Perhaps Dombrowski should've added a bat instead of giving up a natural CF in Austin Jackson, who would be useful right now? Davis and Carrera are not guys to run out in CF every day.
  18. Yankees are in the same boat as the Jays as well. And now we're both chasing the surging Royals.
  19. Tigers just lost 3 of 4 to a Yankees team they should've beat, and have a negative run diff. since the All-Star Break ended. And now they're not hitting either. Jays have a decent chance.
  20. Neither. Royals lead 2-1 against the D-backs. This weekend the Tigers and Jays need to start worrying about the Royals.. they are sneaking up on the AL Central and 2nd wild card. And with the Tigers schedule, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Detroit ends up missing the playoffs because of the surging Royals.
  21. O's win.. tied for the wild card with the Yanks (who we may be surpassed by the Royals if they win tonight.) On to a struggling Detroit.. who do not have the dominant bullpen the O's have (Detroit's is one of the worst in the AL.. and now they're not hitting either.) Maybe the Tigers series will spark the Jays again. Important series for both the Tigers & Jays.. Royals are not only facing leading the 2nd wild card, THEY could lead the division by the end of the weekend if the Tigers get swept.
  22. At the rate the Tigers are going, a Jays sweep of the Tigers could put the Royals ahead in the Central.. the Tigers are 9-11 post All-Star break.
  23. Man, what is wrong with the Tigers lately? 9-11 in their last 20, losing to the Yankees, and 9-10 since the 2nd half started. Better figure things out soon, or Kansas City might steal the division. And the bullpen is melting again.. 4-1 Yankees now.
  24. Only 1 hit by the O's tonight.. guess they can't hit power pitching like Hutch unlike the junk they had with Buehrle last night.
  25. White Sox were shellacked so badly tonight, Adam Dunn actually had to learn to pitch tonight.. 16-0 rout. Yankees lose..
