    Most teams would probably have made that trade as well. Josh Johnson was getting offers from other teams as well, not just the Jays. And we needed veteran help on the staff.

    Cespedes would be terrible in Miami in that cavernous ballpark, and I imagine Miami wants CONTROLLABLE (i.e. 5-6 years) high-upside talent in any deal, such as a Joey Gallo, Kris Bryant, Joc Pederson, etc.. and besides, Cespedes isn't doing himself any favours with a sub .300 OBP between Oakland and Boston due to a low batting average and mediocre walk rate, even with his strong defense in the OF. No way Miami takes a downgrade like that.

    Agreed. And the Marlins could contend as early as this season.. they're only 4 out of the 2nd wild card.

    Most teams would rather keep Stanton than take that deal. Cespedes hasn't been the same since the 2012 season, and hasn't had an OBP above .300 since 2012.. not worth the trade.

    Good thing, because it could make the difference between home field advantage in a series vs. the Royals, who they are on track to face in the ALDS, with LA getting the wild card team who wins that spot(Oakland, Detroit, Seattle, Toronto or NY)

    Longoria was drafted by the Rays. He wasn't an IFA. And we were in the mix for Darvish.. and BTW, that contract for Darvish doesn't include the posting fee. He's actually making close to $18M if you include the fee.
