Hey it could be worse.. Expos fans got robbed of multiple playoff spots due to no wild card at the time and the 1994 strike.

It's true. Look at the standings back in 1998. Of course, the Yanks were absolutely dominating that season with their 114 wins.. which will likely never be seen again due to increased parity and limits on the draft and the luxury tax. No team is on pace to get to 100 this season.

Prado was Yankees bound no matter what.. the Yanks already pretty much had a deal ready while they were acquiring McCarthy, plus 28 other teams weren't touching that huge contract the D-Backs owed him.

Hopefully the Jays don't have the same issue with injuries with their young core of starters (Hutchison, Stroman, Sanchez, Norris, Graveman) than they had during the Halladay and Carpenter eras. The Halladay era was littered with injured arms (Chacin, Litsch, McGowan, Marcum) and busts (Purcey, Romero).

For various reasons: 1. Yankees dominance due to the core 4-5 (depending if you consider Bernie Williams a core piece) 2. Rays being a doormat in early years. 3. Jays rebuilding in 1995-97.. and the Jays would've made the playoffs in 1998 if the 2nd wild card had existed then(and would've played Boston). 4. Dominating financial resources of the Steinbrenners 5. Gord Ash's stupidity in the late 90s/early 2000s, followed by Riccardi's problems. 6. Dominance of the Yankees and Red Sox in the early 2000s. There's a lot to blame to go around.. but you have to consider what kind of teams Jeter had.

Crisp just suffered and injury trying to rob a HR from Chris Ianetta. Can't he ever stay healthy? Get those playoff tickets printed in LA (both AL and NL.)

Because his team made the playoffs every year in dominating fashion, making it nearly impossible for other teams to make the playoffs! Ask Orioles fans.. they didn't make the postseason for 15 years during Jeter's career! And we would've made the postseason in 1998 had there been a 2nd wild card, and 2000 if we had more pitching depth. Don't rub it in! Plus, it wasn't just Jeter, it also was Pettite, Posada, Williams, and Rivera as well, the core. Of course, late in Jeter's career, his team is looking like it'll miss the postseason in back to back years, barring a collapse of the Tigers, Mariners and A's(yes, the A's.. the A's are 14-16 in their last 30.) We all know the O's are going to win the AL East..

Yes, but his command is terrible, and his control is awful.. he's lucky he's playing an impatient team like the Orioles, who don't walk much. Still, he was hit around quite a bit. Deduno didn't help anything either..

Good news for the Tigers.. Kansas City trails 4-0 to the Indians. However, the Indians are closing in.. a win and they're only 4.5 back of the division. And of course, a Tigers win and they at least stay tied with Seattle.

Mookie Betts hits a grand slam off Archer. And the Rays have been butchers tonight.. 3 errors! With Betts' numbers like this and Castillo coming, we'll never see JBJ in a Red Sox uniform again after this season.

On the other hand, TDA's pitch framing does help the Mets pitching staff (all 5 starters have ERAs in the 3s). Still, PBs and SBs from him hurt, especially on an offensively challenged team like the Mets (near the bottom in many categories regarding hitting and SLG)

Well, he has hit a little (12 HR, 32 RBI, 26/54 BB/K ratio, .229/.292/.397).. but his poor defensive skills and injuries do scream bust. Yes, his pitch framing is good, but it's negated by his awful defense.

Elite framers don't matter if they keep getting foul tips hitting them in the head causing concussions, which d'Arnaud has a history of. Oh, and he has 12 PBs, and only has a CS% of 20%.

His bat would still be better than most of the Mets OFs on the MLB team and in the minors, of which many are s*** offensively, but some have great gloves (i.e. Lagares)

True. But his frequent injuries behind the plate and Plawecki's development are close to forcing the Mets' hand. It makes you wonder if AA knew something about him when they traded him along with Syndergaard(who the jury is still out on and is unlikely to be called up until 2015.) for RA Dickey.

Travis d'Arnaud may not last at catcher. Mets are discussing moving him to LF due to his frequent concussions: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/baseballinsider/travis-arnaud-turned-keeper-ny-mets-save-concussions-blog-entry-1.1920941 Not that it's a big issue for the Mets.. they have Kevin Plawecki in the pipeline, who will likely push d'Arnaud off catcher anyway. Besides, d'Arnaud's defense behind the plate isn't good(-0.9 dWAR, -12 DRS).. so lousy that it makes Navarro look like Yadier Molina. It may be better for d'Arnaud to be moved to another position, especially considering his power bat is better suited for the OF than at C. Oh, and the Mets called up top 2B prospect Dilson Herrera due to Daniel Murphy going on the DL.

Still 5.5 back. Seattle is idle tonight. All the Tigers win does is tie them with the Mariners.

Of course, any deal is unlikely, as it is standard procedure to put players on revocable waivers, and it is rare to see trades in August because of the risk any minors players in a deal get claimed (the Jays claimed Rubby De La Rosa back in 2012 during the Dodgers/Red Sox trade, forcing the Dodgers to pull him back until the offseason so he could be moved to Boston.) -

Jose Bautista's not going anywhere. Buehrle on the other hand, might go if someone like the Angels are interested, especially the Angels, who DESPERATELY need a starter at any cost, especially if they want to go anywhere in the playoffs. -
Cozart's had great D this year to compliment their strong pitching, but whether the Reds can continue to afford to carry a low AVG/low OBP defensive SS like him is questionable, especially with a near bottom ranked offense and a losing record, especially with several of their pitchers heading towards free agency in the next year, and unlikely to resign with the Reds. Some Reds fans are comparing Cozart to Paul Janish, and that's not a good thing. Some actually think Ramon Santiago should be playing regularly.. but that would hurt their D.

Tigers fans, like I was with the Jays last night, are probaly saying **** the Tigers, **** their pitching, and **** David Price: 2.0 IP, 12H!, 8ER, 1BB, 3Ks Performances like this are going to cost the Tigers a playoff spot. And they can't afford their bullpen to get taxed.. they have a day game tomorrow (it's on Sportsnet BTW).
