  1. Blue Jays-Official ‏@BlueJays 4m The @BlueJays have acquired OF JOHN MAYBERRY JR. from the @Phillies in exchange for minor league infielder GUSTAVO PIERRE. LOL at RAJ... Gustavo Pierre isn't a good prospect, with his 25 errors between SS/3B, and terrible bat and non existent walk rate.
  2. Angels win. 5 game lead on the A's now... and 30 up on the Texas Rangers!
  3. He's already blowing up the IL. However, it is possible they may shut him down due to innings.
  4. It'll depend on Buffalo's performance vs. Syracuse, who have already clinched a playoff spot in AAA.
  5. Deck McGuire, formerly of the Blue Jays, was just outrighted off the A's 40 man. Guess they don't care for him either.
  6. Any idea who'll likely be called up when roster expand? Most likely we'll see: P Daniel Norris P Sean Nolin P Rob Rasmussen P Chad Jenkins P Kyle Drabek P Steve Delabar (questionable) C AJ Jimenez or C George Kottaras 2B/SS Ryan Goins OF Anthony Gose OF Darin Mastroianni Outside shot: 1B Dan Johnson, 1B/3B Matt Hague, P Kendall Graveman Any other ideas?
  7. Cleveland now leading 3-1 on the slumping Royals. Losing this series could throw the AL Wild card and Central into a loop.. Cleveland will only be 3 out in the loss column of the Tigers and Royals after tonight, have a Sunday Night Baseball game tomorrow, and a HUGE series vs. the Tigers this coming week. It also helps the Mariners and Yankees.. and to a very lesser extent the Blue Jays.
  8. Gose/Pillar yes, Reyes to 2B no, and Navarro still has a year left.. but we do have Jimenez in AAA, who we might see in September if healthy.
  9. Red Sox Nation is calling it a cheap shot and demanding his suspension. Not going to happen.. it was an accident. Regardless, Boston has nothing to play for, so all it'll do is help the Sox's draft position.
  10. And they can start by getting a decent 2B and resigning Cabrera, plus adding decent bench pieces, and cutting Rasmus. A healthy Lawrie would also help.
  11. Not completely true. Cincy has a top 5 ERA rotation.. but are below .500 and set to miss the playoffs because their offense is lousy. Ditto for Tampa Bay in the AL. In order to even contend, you also need to have offense to compliment the pitching, or it won't matter if you have the #1 ERA. Other examples: 2013 Kansas City (#5 ERA, missed the playoffs) 2012 Mariners and 2012 Angels (#4 and #5, both missed the playoffs) Back in 2012, Baltimore had a lousy rotation, yet made the playoffs.
  12. Good thing the Sox got Jemile Weeks, as Pedroia could be out for a little while.. and Red Sox fans are probably going **** you Forsythe.. Scott Lauber ‏@ScottLauber Pedroia has symptoms consistent with concussion, Farrell said. Will see doctor in Tampa #RedSox
  13. And Atlanta and Arizona previously.
  14. You won't find much of that on the free agent market. Basically, it's just Lester and Scherzer, and to a lesser extent Shields who I have doubts on if he leaves the pitcher's park that is Kansas City.
  15. Angels not planning any deals for pitching. Jeff Fletcher ‏@JeffFletcherOCR #Angels GM Jerry Dipoto said he's not expecting any moves before the deadline for postseason eligibility tomorrow. This is it. Mike DiGiovannaVerified account ‏@MikeDiGiovanna GM Jerry Dipoto said #Angels will use expanded roster/deep bullpen to fill Richards' rotation spot. "I'm not looking at it as doomsday." Might as well.. the team's going to the postseason and will likely win the AL West. Might as well go with Johnny Everystaff every fifth game until the postseason, especially with rosters expanding Monday, and the Salt Lake Bees not making the playoffs (60-81). They'll be calling up a ton of relievers on Monday.
  16. There will be limits if the Yankees miss the postseason, as the franchise loses money every time they miss the playoffs with the current payroll, especially with the bond payments they owe on Yankee Stadium: http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303997604579238550215265832
  17. So was the Cardinals using Trevor Rosenthal as a closer, as he was a starter in the minors or Johnathon Papelbon (who was a starter in the minors in Boston.) If Sanchez has the stuff and the Jays have enough depth in SP, they should give Sanchez a shot to close.
  18. BTW, regarding Refsnyder of the Yankees, he does not project to be much of a regular in the big league according to MLB.com top prospects list for the Yankees: Hit: 55 Power:45 Run:55 Arm: 50 Field:45 Overall:50 Yankees would rather play Prado or Drew(if he stays) at 2B than call up this guy. Especially considering Refsnyder's D isn't great.
  19. Tigers not doing themselves any favors, losing 6-3 in the 8th to the White Sox. Indians and Royals are keeping on eye on that doubleheader..
  20. The numbers I got came from Cot's. And yes, they will be over the tax.
  21. Chances are Refsnyder gets traded. This is an organization where their prospects rarely get to play in the big leagues, plus they've been playing him in the OF in AAA along with 2B. And a number of those arms in the pen will be DFAd/non-tendered(Rogers, Outman). And the Yanks won't play Ryan every day at SS.. they're more likely to blow money on a SS (possibly Hardy) than have Ryan in the lineup. In addition, they'll likely spend on a SP because there are question regarding Tanaka and Sabathia's health. And that's a terrible bench, and you left out Martin Prado. Basically, the Yanks are going to be well over the tax.
  22. Wonder if the Jays have decided to give up on Rasmus and are just waiting for him to become a free agent? His poor offense and declining defense in CF aren't helping. At this point, Pillar/Gose are better options than him, with Pompey on the way next season.
  23. Yanks better enjoy it now.. they have little flexibility below the tax in 2015(at $168.768M for 10 players, or $180M including benefits) with A-Rod's money back on the books, and needing a lot of things, including a 2B, SS, a closer and starting pitching. And Robertson, IF he returns, is getting a huge raise. Headley won't be back.. Yanks have no room to give him a multi-year deal until A-Rod comes off the books and off 3B.
  24. If only he hadn't been a fraud with his fake stories..
  25. Not what I meant at all. I meant that Montreal fans at the time deserved better. And yes, I have read that book by Jonah Keri.
