  1. Our old friend Deck McGuire is back with the Angels again (likely someone got hurt, likely Skaggs).. Angels org. is a joke. Of course, with no depth in AAA--much of their pitching have ERAs north of 5..
  2. A few days late--but check out this thread re: deferrals. Boy, are the Nats screwed: (oh and BTW, they're losing to the Red Sox again.)
  3. You don't realize how much of a mess the Nats organization is. Injuries, limited depth and Harper having a lousy season with the bat. Oh, and they're getting blown out by the Red Sox again as Roark is getting destroyed--9-2 Boston.
  4. After last night's game plus the recent performance, the Nats are in BIG trouble. 3.5 back of a wild card(with the Dodgers, Cubs, Phillies, Cards and Giants making it difficult for the Nats to gain ground), 7 games back of Atlanta.. Mike Rizzo is in a serious jam. Almost certain to lose Bryce Harper at year's end, Strasburg/Scherzer's and Zimmerman's albatross deals clogging up half the payroll (yes, Strasburg and Scherzer are albatross contract due to heavy back-loading), loads of free agents and the team facing a real threat of missing the playoffs, does he blow it up except for Eaton, Soto and Turner and try to restock the team's farm system, which needs significant replenishment? If the team continues to slide, what will they do?
  5. It definitely is. SoxProspects shows a system of little upside in their prospects--nobody outside of Jay Groome (who is hurt and just had TJS) projects as a bonafide regular. Pitching especially is ghastly awful..Houck, Mata, Schreff, and Hernandez are struggling badly in A+ ball, and Michael Chavis, their top infield prosepct, is suspended (PEDs).
  6. It's partially true--especially with JD Martinez, Mitch Moreland, Brock Holt and Mookie Betts--both have BABIPs at fairly high levels, and are due for regression. Yankees on the other hand, are actually underperforming offensively despite their strong record.. outside of Judge and Stanton, the team has a number of regulars with <.300 BABIP.. so that team could be even more dangerous when healthy and performing, and a strong bet to have a deeper playoff run than the Red Sox, who basically are depending on their pitching and Kimbrel--while they are a strong bet to play in October, whether they get past the Wild Card game if the Yankees overtake them is another question, or past the ALDS--as it stands, the chances of a Yankees/Red Sox ALDS is very high with the Yanks and Red Sox neck and neck in the AL East and a commanding lead in the wild card.
  7. Still going in Atlanta--7-7 in the 14th because Britton has turned into garbage.. the O's had this game, then Atlanta tied it in the 9th. This Braves team is for real.. Oh, and Washington lost big.. Harper still isn't hitting.
  8. Yet another win for Seattle! They're playing so well, they've overtaken the Astros in the standings (pending the results of the game vs. the Red Sox). It makes this week's 2 game set with the Astros and Mariners interesting.. plus, Seattle also gets to clobber Tampa again next weekend. I can imagine the anger in Anaheim right now watching the Mariners and Astros lay waste to the AL West.. 4.5 games back when they were supposed to be a top team--Mike Sciosia's(and the Angels coaching staff)'s job security has to come in question.
  9. With the Jays a steep 11 games back (dang Mariners and Astros!), along with a 14.5 game deficit against the Red Sox, it'll be interesting what Shapiro and Atkins do in a month's time.. obvious the Jays are going into full-blown rebuild as Vlad Jr. and Bo Bichette approach the majors. Question will be what they'll get for Happ, Donaldson, some relievers, possibly Pearce if he gets healthy..
  10. Man, I thought the Jays were lousy--this Angels team has similar problems--except they're under pressure to win NOW, especially as Trout gets closer to free agency, and the team hasn't won a playoff game since 2009..
  11. Holy, Pujols is almost as slow as Morales.. WHY is he still batting 4th? And you wonder why the Angels are sinking.
  12. Angels pen leads MLB in Innings pitched--and, combined with lousy offense, LA has plummeted out of a wild card fast--if they're out of contention in a month, Sciosia has to face the ax--as he's in the last year of his deal.
  13. Told ya this Angels team is bad.. Garret Richards is going to end up taxing the Halos bullpen again as he is struggling to get the Jays batters out.
  14. Holy, Chris Young is awful in RF--but Calhoun is unplayable and Hermosillo should really be in AAA right now..
  15. Clean inning for Happ.
  16. Yet another Angels pen arm bites the dust--Blake Wood looks headed for Tommy John surgery--what is it with the Angels and so many frequent pitching injuries?
  17. Rays are calling up SS Willy Adames! About time..
  18. Another injury for Seattle--Dee Gordon on the 10-day DL (broken toe). They just can't catch a break.
  19. Angels lose Rene Rivera to an injury(knee inflammation)--meaning Maldonado will be playing more. LA cannot stop avoiding injuries..
  20. Looks like the end of the road for Joey Bats: See you on the Level of Excellence in the coming years..
  21. Only 8 games in AA and he gets a callup--it shows how depleted the Nats OF is of depth. Along with Kendrick, they also have Eaton, Robles, Bautista on the DL as well, and they don't exactly want to touch Moises Sierra again.. it's a mess.
  22. You might want to stop laughing--Angels have lost 6 of their last 8 games, and some of those games weren't even against good teams. Like with the Jays, the bullpen usage from earlier in the season is catching up to them, as I exactly expected to happen. And Middleton blowing out his elbow was a gut punch to the Angels, pressuring an already depleted relief corps. And the lineup outside of Trout and Simmons still isn't hitting.. not even Ohtani can help the offense. At the rate things are going, my money's on a rising Oakland A's team.. and the Jays are getting a rude awakening against Oakland. They look more like a team that could surprise a lot of people and contend.. and of course, Tampa can't be ruled out, even though they have no shot in the East due to the Yanks and Red Sox juggernauts.
  23. Angels, like the Jays, continue to go into meltdown mode--Daniel Robertson of the Rays hit a grand slam off Heaney, and it's 4-0 already. Suddenly, the A's and Mariners and even the Rays are threatening the Angels chances..
  24. Rays are beating up the Angels--Tropeano sucks. And once again, it's taxing the Angels bullpen. Not noted--Michael Hermosillo got called up due to Upton's injury. Like the Jays, the Angels are getting exposed..
  25. UCL damage for Keynan Middleton. Season's likely over for him. Fire Sciosia now! He's going to kill the bullpen by the All-Star break and send the Angels out of contention.
