  1. No kidding! If Seattle/Cleveland/Toronto/New York(more likely Seattle or Cleveland) pass the A's and make the playoffs with the A's missing them, there's going to be hell to pay in Oakland..
  2. At the rate Oakland continues to collapse, Detroit playing KC, Seattle playing Houston, and Cleveland having a series with KC, who knows? Anything could happen between now and Sept. 28th. All the Jays need to do is sweep the Yanks.. and both teams are a mess right now.
  3. Which they will. Their bats will get destroyed by Price/Scherzer/Porcello/Verlander.
  4. Enough with the HBPs already! It's been like an epidemic around MLB lately.. check out the Rays/Yankees series as well!
  5. Well, he's only here for another week and he'll be DFAed. This guy won't be here by Spring Training next year.
  6. And you wonder why Kottaras has bounced around multiple clubs..
  7. Royals are leading 5-1 on the White Sox. Looks like both the Jays and Yankees could be out of it by the end of tonight.. making the weekend series meaningless.
  8. MLB.com says he has a 70 arm(above-average). But he has issues blocking and receiving pitches. He did throw out 39% of base stealers in AA this year.. but 17 errors, likely throwing errors, along with 10 passed balls.
  9. Exactly. Teams don't pay for pitch framing and defense.. they pay for production, which McCann has failed to do. Worse, he will likely be moved to 1B sooner than later due to Tex's decline and the eventual arrival of Gary Sanchez.
  10. One win.. please? KC is likely to lose vs. Sale tonight.. we have a shot to gain ground.
  11. Not at $17M/year. He was brought in to hit 25-30HR due to the short porch at Yankee Stadium and be a better option than Stewart/Cervelli/Romine, who they had last year. And he's a product of Yankee Stadium.. take him out of there and that contract really is awful. Look at his home/road splits!
  12. McCann got LVP votes because he is significantly overpaid for his skills, at $17M/year, which he doesn't deserve. As for Bogaerts, he really should have gotten more time in AAA for his bat and his glove. Still, he could pan out. And Edwin Jackson.. are you out of your mind? He was horrid.. and they still have 2 years left of him.
  13. From the Star today (can't find a link though): Least Valuable Player (LVP): Dan Uggla (Hon. mention: Dunn, BJ Upton, Choo, McCann) Cy Yuk (Not Cy Young): Edwin Jackson (HM to Stults, Masterson, Lewis) Rookie Bust: Xander Bogaerts, Jackie Bradley Jr.(BOS) Overhyped exec: Jon Daniels (TEX) Arsonist of the Year: Jim Johnson (HM: Rex Brothers, Ronald Belisaro) Worst Manager: John Farrell (HM: Bo Porter, Ron Roeniicke, Bob Melvin) Drug Suspension: Chris Davis No surprise Farrell got Worst Manager.. he's turned back into the awful manager who was so lousy that the Jays decided to bring Gibbons back. Xander Bogaerts may still pan out, though..
  14. Just saw Baltimore's 1997 clinch in Toronto. You know, like the 1997 team, it will be difficult to keep their team together after this season, similar to the 1997 team.. no way Peter Angelos is going to repeat the same mistakes he made back then.. plus he has less money available than back in 1997/98, when the O's were drawing near the top in the MLB, instead of being just barely above Toronto now. Based on revenues and the 50% rule, the O's, considering upcoming arb raises, they're not going to have a lot of space(if any) to keep Hardy, Cruz, Markakis..
  15. I meant they have a good chance of bringing him back.
  16. Duh. But the Jays will have a good chance of keeping him.. very few teams will pay $15-$16M on a non-elite OF that is attached to draft pick compensation.
  17. No surprise here: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/24711924/blue-jays-plan-to-extend-qualifying-offer-to-melky-hope-to-keep-him Considering the value of the QO, the Jays may have the upper hand.
  18. White Sox blow it. Jays 4.5/5.0 out, Mariners will be 1.5/2.0 out (getting pounded by the Angels). Stupid bullpen..
  19. Good news: Angels lead 4-0 on a Pujols double and Kendrick double, Royals just blew a chance to tie vs. the WHite Sox in the 8th because Billy Butler stinks. Bad News: Pujols just got injured running out that double. Campana in to PR. Good thing the Angels have a huge lead in the standing and enough depth to withstand it.
  20. That's not as bad as blowing hundreds of millions trying to buy Jeter a championship before he retires this season in Ellsbury, Beltran and McCann, which the Yankees did, which backfired horribly. And I object to those "horrendous trades" comments.. none of those players outside of Alvarez and maybe d'Arnaud have panned out, and we were on a 100-loss pace without making huge upgrades, which would've been toxic to the ticket base. Casual fans won't wait for a team to contend or spend.
  21. White Sox pen suddenly having trouble with the Royals. Now only up 3-2. And the Tigers, who are still being chased by the Royals, just blew a huge lead and are now tied 6-6 in the 8th(effin Chamberlain and Coke!)
  22. And Toronto. We're still within distance, especially considering KC has Detroit coming up and Seattle has 7 vs. the Angels, and us.
  23. Getting close to saying goodbye to the Yanks playoff hopes.. Rays walk off on a Ben Zobrist single.
  24. Then tell Seattle and KC to stop being such mediocre teams that may only require 85-87 wins to get a wild card.
  25. Meanwhile, the Yanks, trying to stave off elimination, are tied with Tampa at 0 in an extreme pitchers' duel.
