  1. Exactly. With a loss tonight, the Yanks elimination number will be down to 4 or 5, depending on the Seattle and Oakland games.
  2. Does ANYONE want to win the wild card? Royals lose 3-2 to the Tigers. Oakland trailing 2-0 to the Phillies. Still waiting for the SEA/HOU game.
  3. As the Yanks are about to miss the playoffs again as Jeter has continued to decline, here's a story about some possible Jeter-esque situations happening in the future.. both the Red Sox and Rays make the list due to Pedroia and Longoria. http://nypost.com/2014/09/20/other-teams-face-jeter-like-consequences-with-long-term-stars/ And boy are the Reds screwed for the next decade..
  4. Some of is due to: -Less power -Long games -People preferring to watch the NFL -Economic issues.
  5. Indians lose to Minnesota 5-4. Big hit to any chance of catching OAK/KCR/SEA.
  6. Royals lose 10-1 to the Tigers. You can imagine both Ned Yost and GM Dayton Moore's seats are getting hot.. both are likely to be fired if the Royals miss the playoffs, especially since they traded a top prospect (Wil Myers, Jake Odorizzi, and others) for James Shields, hoping to make the playoffs..
  7. Expiring contract after the 2014 season. He's likely retiring (he's 69).
  8. Beeston's gone regardless of what happens this season IIRC.
  9. Cleveland just blew a 4-3 lead.. game's now in the 10th 4-4. A's are leading 3-1 on Philly.. how are they gonna blow it tonight? Royals getting mauled 10-1.. and Seattle is about to move into a tie for the wild card with a big win vs. the Astros.
  10. Has anyone noticed how much better the Texas Rangers have played since Tim Bogar became the manager? 7-0 on the Angels.. Hector Santiago is garbage. Better hope Shoemaker is healthy for the playoffs.. or the Angels may have trouble getting out of the ALDS. Tim Bogar is making a good impression to be the new Rangers manager next season with his 6-0 record since.. soon to be 7-0. Strange.. they've spoiled Atlanta and Oakland's postseason hopes. Too bad they can't hurt the Angels' positioning, as they're already so far ahead. (Oh BTW, the O's lost 5-3 to Boston.)
  11. 10-0 Tigers vs. the Royals. A's lead 3-0 on the Phillies. Mariners clobbering Houston 8-3. Indians lead 4-3 on Minny. Not a good night for the Royals hopes of ending their 29-year drought. If the Royals get swept vs. Detroit this weekend, they won't make the playoffs, and Ned Yost will likely joining John Gibbons, Bo Porter, and Fredi Gonzalez on the unemployment line.
  12. With the Jays struggles I'm not surprised. Can we get to the offseason already?
  13. Miami made that signing, not the Blue Jays. We only assumed the contract in the trade.
  14. And based on what we're seeing in the Tigers/Royals game, this is why the Royals will not be in the postseason.. they can't beat the Tigers or Indians. At this point, it wouldn't be surprising if the Indians or Mariners surpass them.. hell, if they sweep, even the Yankees aren't out of it.
  15. And apparently, Ellsbury was hurt on the play.. he has left the game and Chris Young has come in to play LF (with Gardner shifting to his natural positon in CF)
  16. Not a good start for Royals fans.. Tigers up 3-0 as they are lighting up Jason Vargas. Realistically, I wouldn't be surprised if KC's 29-year streak of no postseason continues.. Ned Yost is a terrible manager.
  17. Tigers are likely going to sweep this series.. unless KC really pitches well.
  18. When the Jays are out of it, I switch over to other teams.. at least until the offseason.
  19. Switched over to the DET/KC game.. don't know who to cheer for. I kinda want Francona and co. in CLE to make it..
  20. And Boston regrets not signing Ellsbury even more with him hitting his 16th.. imagine how good the Red Sox would've been if Cherington hadn't cheaped out on Ellsbury. THey'd be still competing for a playoff spot instead of the O's.
  21. For this season, yes, for 2015 and beyond, no. The O's farm is near the bottom of the league, only boosted by Dylan Bundy and Hunter Harvey (and maybe Christian Walker). Plus, Peter Angelos is not known for being a major spender.
  22. Live for today I guess.. the repercussions for the O's will hit next season, when they're scrambling to find a SS, RF and a DH on the free agent market when their big names get large offers from teams like the Yankees, Cubs, Dodgers, Angels, etc. Heck, on Baseball Central, they expect Hardy to sign with the Yankees, which wouldn't surprise me, due to their huge hole at SS after Jeter's retirement. And don't expect the O's to find help on the farm.. Norfolk was terrible this year, and Bowie was mediocre, with nothing on the farm that will help replace their upcoming free agents. Basically, the O's are going to have to spend heavily, or risk spiraling back to mediocrity, similar to Boston this season.
  23. Unfortunately for them, they are going to be facing rebuilding the Orioles team after this season. They stand to lose most of their core from the 2012-2014 teams this offseason, with Hardy, Markakis and Cruz expected to get bigger offers elsewhere in free agency. And the 2012 team was inflated by their strong bullpen.. it didn't do them any good vs. a veteran Yankees team in the ALDS. Only the 2014 team has been legitimately good and not a fluke.. and will likely lose to Detroit or KC in the ALDS, teams with significantly better pitching, and in Detroit's case, better hitters. The 2015 offseason stands to be even uglier for Baltimore, with Wieters and Davis being free agents as well. Oh, and the O's farm is weak.. after Bundy and Hunter Harvey, the farm system drops off a ton..
