  1. Gentry and Sanchez collided: John Hickey ‏@JHickey3 Craig Gentry sitting up as #Athletics tend to him. Now he's coming out of the game. Not good news for an A's team trying to hold off Seattle.
  2. Marlins plan to offer Stanton a huge contract, and plan to keep him in 2015.. sorry Red Sox Nation and others: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2014/09/09/giancarlo-stanton-nl-mvp-marlins-trade-contract/15360507/
  3. Boy, start printing playoff tix in Baltimore already! The O's are up 4-0 on Boston..
  4. KC's playoff hopes taking a big hit tonight, as the Tigers are up 3-0 early on. A loss tonight and KC sinks out of a playoff spot, pending results from the A's and Mariners. And the Yanks look done... down 3-0 to Tampa. Oh, and no Smyly this weekend... he has been shut down (innings).
  5. Pompey's probably not getting a start because, like most top prospects in September, are there mostly for the big league experience. They need to earn it in Spring Training. We might see him once the Jays are out of contention.
  6. Do you think the Jays should go after Headley? MLBTradeRumors had a stock watch piece on him.. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/09/free-agent-stock-watch-chase-headley.html Doesn't look like a return to NYY is in the cards, especially due to tax and A-Rod concerns.
  7. True, but I don't think teams should be overpaying for Martin. This guy was dumped by the Dodgers and Yankees years back due to poor offensive results, and this season is his best due to being a free agent after this season.. will he even repeat this in future years, or will he end up a free agent bust like Brian McCann, another fellow catcher? And who's going to want him? Yankees won't take him back (McCann), Red Sox have young catchers (Vazquez, Swihart), O's have no room, Rays have no money. As for the rest of the league, I have no idea.
  8. Oakland's collapse is nearly complete. Thanks to Seattle's win last night, the A's now are only 1 up in the first wild card, and 0.5 up on the Royals, 1.5 vs. the Tigers. And with a series vs. the Mariners this weekend, suddenly, the wild card race could become wide open, with even the Yankees, Indians, Royals/Tigers and Jays not out of it. The Mariners aren't in the clear yet, though.. the Angels may have something to say about it, with 7 remaining vs. them. At this point, Oakland can't even beat bad teams.. they're now 14-21 since the Cespedes trade.
  9. Collapse continues in Oakland. Tyler Flowers walks off the A's with a solo HR off of former Blue Jays pitcher Jeese Chavez. A's now only 1.5 up on the Tigers, and could be only 1 up on the Mariners at the end of tonight. And they're only 0.5 game up on Kansas City. Boy, the wild card race is getting TIGHT.
  10. Yanks and Indians fans are also pipe-dreaming as well. But the Indians have a better chance than the Yankees.. the Yankees can't control their destiny, with nothing but divisional matchups left, and basically need both Seattle and Detroit/KC to fade.
  11. You forgot the Royals. They are in trouble, as well, as they can't win vs. Detroit, have no wins vs. Boston this year, and still have Cleveland left. No Minny to fall back on.. they're done with them. Oh, and they still have some games with the White Sox left.
  12. Still tied at 4 in Chicago. Earlier this season, Oakland would easily win these games.. not now!
  13. No, I feel it's a trap series because Houston took 2/3 from the first place Angels last week, and the Astros have Colin McHugh going tomorrow, and rookie Nick Tropeano, who the Mariners have never seen. If the Mariners don't take this series, they could be in trouble, because they have mostly A's and Angels games left, one more series in Houston, and us.
  14. No score in Seattle. Why do I have a feeling this Astros/Mariners series feels like a trap series?
  15. Cut those A's odds. Eric O'Flaherty just served up a game-tying HR to Tyler Flowers to tie the game at 4.
  16. Oakland is collapsing. Suddenly, I think Seattle might win the 1st wild card, and Oakland misses the playoffs.
  17. Ugly start in Chicago. White Sox scored 2 on no hits, 2 BBs, and a Moss error. The collapse is getting ugly in Oakland..
  18. Tigers win. Oakland's lead could be down to 1 or 1.5 games if they lose tonight. And the Tigers win puts pressure on the Royals.. suddenly, I'm thinking their 29-year stretch of no playoffs will continue, especially if Seattle keeps winning.
  19. Cubs sure are showing their youth.. not a lot of patience vs. Stroman.
  20. A's bullpen blows it. 4-3 Lastros.
  21. Remaining Indians sked, FYI: Angels (1--makeup game, home) Twins (6)(3 home, 3 road) Tigers (3 road) Royals (3 + 1 half inning, home) Lastros (4, road) Rays (3, home)
  22. Mariners get shut out by Derek Holland and the Rangers. Jays now 5.0 games back.. it is important we get that deficit down to 2-3 games by the Seattle series, as we're chasing them, and Detroit could be finished off by the time the Mariners come to Toronto. Mariners have a trap series with Houston coming up, then some key series with the Angels and A's. Tigers on the other hand have Kansas City(2 series), Cleveland, and Minnesota next up. Of course, the Tigers embarrassed themselves vs. Minnesota last time.. who know what'll happen? If they fail to win vs. KC, the Tigers playoff hopes could end right there. And watch out for that Indians team.. with that pitching and their soft sked, that team could surprise, and could steal one of the wild cards.
  23. The Manziel era should be starting in Cleveland soon. Steelers lead 27-3 at the half. Time to bench Hoyer (4-11, 57 yards) And the numbers are ugly for Cleveland, trailing 364-101 in yardage. Roethlisberger has a shot at 400+ yards this afternoon because of Cleveland's awful D.
  24. Cleveland still sucks. 10-3 at the end of 1. Pittsburgh has dominated offensively.
