  1. When we actually have someone ready to step up.. how long until Norris and/or Doubront are ready to be called back up?
  2. Because the AL West is a tire fire right now, outside of this team and the Angels. It's not all good for the Astros.. they need another starter or two to go with Keuchel and McHugh if they're going to contend. Feldman, Hernandez(Roberto), Peacock and Asher won't cut it, especially if the Angels start to wake up.
  3. All righties in the lineup. We have a chance.. although SS might be an issue defensively tonight with Tolleson at SS.
  4. Walk off by Matt Scuzur, as the Cubs win.
  5. Radhames Liz alert coming for the 12th.. Worley's PHing for Melancon. And no score in that inning. Maybe we'll get that Bryant walkoff..
  6. We'll see. E-Jax is pitching the 12th..and other innings after that until his arm falls off, especially with Coke being unreliable. And I don't think David Ross is available to pitch due to an injury..
  7. Actually, the bullpen has improved compared to last season. It's the starting pitching that's the issue.
  8. Yes, the trade is bad.. but Happ hasn't helped the Mariners get into contention.. they have a worse record than the Jays, and they can't score or shows signs of getting on base.
  9. Whether Houston's success lasts will depend if they can get help in the starting rotation. The rotation stinks after Keuchel and McHugh.
  10. Especially if they want to overpay for relievers. Many teams are abandoning this because of the high volatility of relief pitching. It's still hard to say if the Astros will keep this up.. their starting pitching, despite Keuchel and McHugh, has issues. Their 3-5 starters(Hernandez, Feldman, and a grab bag of Peacock/Asher/Deduno) have been awful. And of course, the Angels are still a threat in their division. Of course, they're also winning because the AL West is utter trash. LAA- can't hit, but are decent enough pitching wise (5th in the AL in ERA) SEA- SP not really too bad, but that bullpen.. yuck! And they don't hit much outside of Nelson Cruz, with Cano and Seager both down compared to 2014. TEX- Surprsingly, the SP hasn't been too much of a problem outside of Detwiler. Weak bullpen, and loads of offensive struggles, of which Odor was just sent down. Hamilton is on the way, though.. OAK- Hit very well, but that pitching (both starting and bullpen), along with terrible defense, are killing the team. Houston's basically the best team in a very bad division.
  11. Actually, Toronto's pen is not close to the worst. Oakland and Seattle are worse, with higher ERAs and 10 losses. Not every team can have the Astros, Royals or Cardinals pen. Loup had been pitching well.. like most mid-relievers, he was just off last night. He's still been a solid reliever this season. Thole's error, though, hurt.. we need to get rid of him now! Hope Navarro gets healthy soon.
  12. The Rays draft record stinks. No first rounders since David Price have managed to become decent for the Rays. Some have been traded (Vettleson), malcontents (Josh Sale, Tim Beckham), or are still stuck in the minors. Any decent prospects they have are either in A+ or AA ball. And of course, the current crop of players will depend if the Rays can still afford them.. with a questionable TV deal negotiation coming, of which they are at a disadvantage, plus a lack of fans, much of the current staff will likely be traded in the next year or two.
  13. What a joke the Rays are! Despite a winning record, fans are staying away in droves, even for the Yankees. So far this season, only 15,398 average are showing up in St. Pete, and dropping as we speak. For their "Top up the Trop" promotion, only 11,924 showed up. Do you think the fans are being apathetic and feel the team is headed for Montreal?
  14. Nope. According to Shi Davidi, he will be catching Dickey tomorrow. Thole is only starting today to manage Martin's workload and give him a rest day.
  15. Pointless thread. It'll be Aaron Sanchez on the next start.
  16. Because he doesn't have the stuff or discipline at the big league level? Why do you think Cleveland, Toronto and Baltimore cut him? Tampa only claimed him because they're hurting for depth right now due to a heavy dose of injuries.
  17. Guilmet's intended for Durham. Smyly to the 60 day.
  18. Masterson is once again trash, now down 5-0 after giving up a HR to Reddick, sending his ERA over 6... and they need innings from him, with only Steven Wright really available to give innings and the rest of the bullpen needing rest after throwing 6 innings last night, including extras. And speaking of that, here comes Steven Wright..
  19. And the Red Sox in a big hole already.. and considering it's a lefty and the struggles with their offense, the A's have a good shot at winning this if they can hit Masterson a little more..
  20. God, Buck, calm down!! Not all balls will go out of the park..
  21. No Travis, most likely because he needs an off day to clear his head due to his recent slump. And Travis is likely done in the leadoff spot soon, as Reyes is due back shortly, likely either in Houston or the LA series.
  22. Just a hair below Odorizzi and Chris Archer of the Rays, but considered the best by FIP. However, he's still a ways from being as good as King Felix or Dallas Keuchel.
  23. As it stands right now, O's are in no position to run away or contending in the East with Tillman and Norris being terrible, and the offense taking a huge step back. Rays will fade as injuries and lack of depth start to hurt the team (they were blown apart by the Yanks on Monday), and who knows about the Red Sox? As for the Yankees.. it depends on them staying healthy. At this point, the Yanks are the only real threat to run away in the AL East. And as for the wild card, there is no way Minnesota will sustain its success with such questionable starting pitching and non-existent strikeout rates.. several of their pitchers are playing way over their heads (Gibson, Pelfrey), and of course, they have Nolasco being awful and Hughes regressing back to his Yankees performance.. and Detroit depends on health and getting anything out of their pen, as they lack depth. Don't ask about the AL West.. it's basically Houston and four doormats.
  24. 10 losses for the A's pen now..
