Don't you think Ubaldo is actually a good pitcher?? He could easily be 5-2 right now if it weren't for the ejection in Boston and some run support in the Mets game. Jays did everything to compete in this game.. but Jimenez and the bullpen shut us down. For the O's, 3 of their SPs, including Jimenez have been great.. but Tillman and Norris are really killing the team right now. And we get to blast Tillman tomorrow. On to the Red Sox game to watch them epically fail vs. the A's..

Exactly. Someone, possibly Chili Davis, has messed up HanRam, and every other hitter on the Red Sox except for Sandoval. The only good player on that club is Mookie Betts..

And takes away HanRam's average (.200/.288/.467). Someone is really screwing up his swing or telling him to pull everything..

Same with Buehrle--he's a free agent after this season. As for Dickey, he has a $1M buyout after this season.. -
That too.. but they had fireworks from 1989-2004. I still think it was due to the stadium changes.. and besides, with Windows gone, they couldn't do fireworks now anyway.

Bit of an oddity I just noticed with the Red Sox re: HanRam. So far this season, he has 10 HRs.. but ZERO doubles. Did he lose his speed, or is he just trying to hit HRs all the time? It's one of the many problems that plague the Red Sox, excluding yesterday's win. They're an all or nothing team.. since they don't hit many XBHs(last in the AL in doubles), they basically have to hope for a ton of walks(#1 in the AL) and clog the bases. Combined with the lousy pitching, it's no wonder they're at the bottom of the AL. And they don't hit lefties.. and guess what? They face two in Oakland(Kazmir, Pomeranz), and two more in Seattle(Happ, Paxton), and of course, King Felix on the weekend. For some reason, I can see them falling further in the standings.. the only reason they won yesterday was Dickey being garbage, and Martin not playing.

They use a foghorn (or is it a cruise ship horn?) for HRs and when the Jays win.. I thought it was that song Happy they were using at a time.. As for why they use a foghorn, it is because they had to get rid of the fireworks used after HRs after the 2004 season when the outfield was redone to put auxiliary scoreboards in, and due to all the renovations with the stadium at the time. Using fireworks risks damaging the electronics.

Desperation in Boston.. Craig heading to Pawtucket or another ballclub.. don't expect to get anything in a trade... also, Jackie Bradley Jr. is on route to Toronto to meet the Red Sox as we speak (scratched from the Pawtucket lineup)

And the Melk Man was batting .281... unfortunately, the White Sox offense is so putrid, he's only got 10 RBIs. Abreu leads with just 16.. they can't hit, walk, hit for power.. what a mess in Chicago! Bet White Sox fans are running to Wrigley Field as we speak to watch a good team..

HanRam in Boston ranked 2nd/3rd close to the bottom defensively, BTW. How much longer can they keep playing him in a defensive position? Playing him in LF wipes out any WAR.. despite his 10 HR/22 RBIs, he has a WAR of 0.0.

Owens is not close to MLB ready (3.67 ERA, but 22/19 K/BB ratio) Johnson is more likely to be next in the pecking order, as he has outpitched Owens so far. And Barnes is bullpen bound and no longer a starting option ATM. And you forgot about Eduardo Rodriguez.. but he's not likely to get a callup for a while, as he only has 24.2 IP in AAA and has too small a sample size to evaluate.

Blame also goes to Cherington for not evaluating the pitchers they acquired or are in the rotation right now. Buchholz has been an enigma, Miley has regressed further in Boston with more control problems and fewer K's, Masterson looks done, and Joe Kelly is difficult to evaluate. Only Rick Porcello has been somewhat decent.. but even he has question marks. (BTW, we won't see Porcello in the coming series, as it is Miley, Kelly and Buchholz in the series). And the bullpen.. while better than Toronto's (for now), many of their relievers have terrible peripherals that show that regression is coming.. especially with the way John Farrell abuses the pen (101.1IP through 28 games, highest in the MLB, but not worst per game.. Texas and Colorado have that mark.)

Just off the wires--Boston is shaking up their team after their poor start, firing their pitching coach. Mujica has also been DFAd as well. And if they continue to struggle, Farrell's job will likely be next:

Red Sox lose.. and Farrell commits a bonehead move by having Luis Jimenez, a AAAA guy who was claimed off waivers from the Brewers, pinch run for Ortiz. Jimenez comes up in the order, and proceeds to ground out and cost the Red Sox the game.

Mookie Betts just hit his 5th HR (3rd in 2 days.) Unfortunately, Nava and Holt just killed another rally, which the Red Sox offense does a lot off.. Rays lead 4-3 heading into the 9th.
