  1. Jays will need to do something risky with high reward if they even want to come close to the playoffs next year, Bauer is one of those moves.
  2. Soto apparently turned down a 15yr/440m deal from the Nats. So not sure what he is looking for? But Vlad at 20m and looking for more long term (25M?) is not good at all for a below average fielding 1B and possibly DH.
  3. The sad thing is, that this will probably be the minimum the jays need to do just to make the playoffs next year and most likely something they can not pull off.
  4. Didn’t her drafting suck huge and they wanted someone to help with that and she bailed? She’s below mediocre.
  5. Or maybe we could trade them a future all star catcher for an only defensive player who can't hit?
  6. He’s going to make near 20m, he HAS to be a 3 WAR player. The question is, will he get back to 4+ WAR player to make whatever long term deal he’s looking for worth it. I think he’s a full time DH and would trade him in before he signs whatever deal that will most likely overpay him. I just don’t trust his body type to age well since he’s all bat at a very replaceable position.
  7. I am in agreement with you. I also believe even with the patch jobs that Toronto adds next year, assuming they don't add 2 very impactful bats + starter, that they won't even make the playoffs next year. I also don't think we have such a great core so I see next year the last for Atkins if the Jays don't make the playoffs. Vlad is going to make 20m next year, and really should be a fulltime DH. How high do we need payroll to be to actually be good? Atkins isn't that good.
  8. There was a time, fans here were making fun of the Orioles. They still have what, another top 4 30 prospects on top of their solid team they have now + whatever free agents they add. I just look at the position this club is in with it's farm team, it's current roster and contracts and think this team needs a new group to sell off and rebuild. With 230m payroll, and several years of holding onto prospects from trades/drafting, it wasn't that hard to make the playoffs, so I don't give much credit for him getting there. Because the Yanks/Red Sox haven't figured things out, we squeaked into the playoffs. That is not going to last. The Orioles now are probably well positioned for at least 5+ years. So look at our roster, the prospects we have coming up, the contracts we have out there (Vlad/BO not signed), and the competition. Ask yourselves if you feel confident Shatkins is the group to continue with what's here to make this a solid competing team for several more years.
  9. I don't see an easy fix for this team and I certainly don't see it with Atkins running the ship. The farm is atrocious and payroll is maxed. How can you keep him?
  10. It's so fitting that the mistake trade Atkins made ends the game.
  11. You guys are hating on Vlad but he's a great HR derby hitter.
  12. Bluejays core is not really anything special, don't have anyone young really locked up to team friendly deals, and not enough high end prospects in the system. Payroll is also over 230m. I can't see Atkins having a job if the jays lose tonight.
  13. Berrios was pitching amazing, who in their right stupid mind would yank him???
  14. lol it's already a disaster
  15. Not enough good prospects for that. I doubt they will tear this team down and rebuild.
  16. Jays aren't going to win sht with 1 run, no matter who is pitching
  17. BO is, but Vladdy could be just an above average DH. The Varsho trade really sucked because you could have had Moreno put into the core. Atlanta locked up its core to team friendly deals, Baltimore has a stack of young higher end guys and even more prospects to come. Shatkins is a huge failure, but I think they are at the end of their lifespan and won't start a needed tear down. Jays have one of the worst farms in the majors, so they will still be all in on '24 until they get fired.
  18. They have a bottom 5 farm system. Their payroll is pretty much maxed with no young guys really signed to team friendly deals. All the while with having a top 7 payroll. I don't see a good future right now for this team, there are teams in far better positions with good prospects. I mean, that all changes if Rogers says go to the 275m level but that would still be risky.
  19. The bottom line is results. The jays are underperforming given their payroll. I was talking about prospects because every team needs them. The jays are in a worse position because they are probably maxed out for payroll, still need to sign long term guys and don't have the prospects to improve in certain areas.
  20. Bal/TB are doing that with 1/3 the payroll. Both have better prospect pools than the Jays. When your payroll is 200m+ and in the top 1/4 of the league, you BETTER be at 90 wins. So now, let's look at prospects since that's going to gauge how well the Blue Jays manage their future considering they still have to dish out a couple of massive long term contracts. So let's go, where are the Jays at for top 100 prospects?
  21. It's one thing if Jays were sporting a 130-140m payroll, but they are over 200 now and should have a much better team on the field and with prospects. Seems like just yesterday all the fans here were crapping on Baltimore how they were the laughing stock of the league. If the Jays had their prospects that's a different story, but I don't see much hope right now unless they do a small rebuild or push payroll way higher which doesn't seem possible.
  22. It's Toronto, he probably didn't use someone's preferred pronouns lol
  23. So he misses the rest of this year and all of next year. So he's going to come back from TJ at 36 years old. Good luck!
  24. Good question. If it makes you feel any better, Phils/Padres both have higher payrolls and lower winning % lol. I would fire Atkins in a heartbeat. I see what's in the minors and what product they have now with the 7th highest payroll and there is too much underperformance.
  25. Well some of those fans were expecting an increase, just not like 10x for a very mediocre product lol. Obviously at $850+ per seat per game, they aren't the Yankees and won't sell many seats. I mean, unless it only applies to some premium seats but I just don't see anyone shelling that out to watch the blue jays.
