  1. Tork or Martin with pick 1-1 in a Yahoo 18 team dynasty new player draft? (BA, HR, RBI, SB, R) current roster: C - Kirk 1B - Vlad/Josh Bell 2B - DJL/Mandrigal SS - Trea Turner/Tatis 3B- Moncada OF- Eloy/Teo/Robles/Senzel/Pache Side note - got the pick from a team who thought they were a closer away from competing (Hansel Robles back when he was still Angels closer)
  2. I know people keep throwing Wong's name out there, but what about the poor man's DJL, Tommy La Stella instead? Decent OBP/contact guy. Could play second or third and hold down either position until Martin/JG are ready.
  3. We lost Tony an over-aggressive slide breaking up a double play. Then Ernie went down. Living in the states, I'd get up early every morning to watch the news before school for the score. Every time I'd be in a pissed off mood getting on the bus. That last weekend, the games were on national TV both saturday and sunday (10/3 and 10/4), so I was able to be tortured live. Key pitched a gem that last game but old Kirk hit that homer late and we lost 1-0. Doyle Alexander (who we had traded to the Braves the year prior for Duane Ward) killed us. Went like 10-0 after the trade deadline. The worst part of all of it was knowing we could have beaten the Twins. The Cards I wasn't as certain, but I remember watching the Twins win in five, ripped that should have been us. McGriff/Fielder were the DH, Gruber/Rance at 3B, Lee/Liriano at 2B. Plenty of platoons back then. Can't remember who platooned with Whitt. It wasn't Buck, who I believe retired in '86. Don't think Borders came up until '89, but I'm getting old.
  4. For the last half of '98 (once he moved from second base to third) and most of '99, all he did was deliver clutch hits. RIP, Tony. You will be missed.
  5. 18 team dynasty, keep 30. I'm being offered Ohtani (the pitching version), Kluber, Christian Pache, Austin Hayes and Raisel Islesias for Javier Baez and Kyle Schwaber. I already have Trea Turner and Tatis at SS, with Baez losing his 2B eligibility and only one UTIL spot in the lineup available. Would I be better off focusing on trading him for a 2B or taking the deal and worry about second base later?
  6. 3) Marte. Of all the supposedly available CF options, he'd make the greatest impact.
  7. Someone (Trammel I believe but too tired to spend the 30 seconds required to verify) went to the game but was injured. Griffin had been invited to attend as Garcia's guest, so when Trammel or whoever bowed out, the AL was SOL, left with no choice but include Alfredo, who was one of my favorites as a kid. I was so mad when we traded him to make room for Tony, not recognizing as a 10 yo what Fernandez was going to be.
  8. Don't know what his contract demands are going to be, but I hope we're in on Yoshitomo. Lefty with power and decent OBP.
  9. Fenway is the world's largest outhouse.
  10. But does Todd have him listed in his top 117?
  11. Bleeping Royals one upping us again.
  12. Considering the fact AA traded Noah for a knuckleball 'ace', do you think he'd give up Kyle Wright for Stro-show?
  13. 20 teams, 2 rounds. Curious why the hate for Bohm? Of the four (India, Gorman, Groshans, & him), he seemed the best hit/power combo. Gorman gives off a Gallo 2.0 vibe.
  14. I require some fantasy advice. After selecting Wander (1) Bohm (2) Kelennic (10) and Patino (18) in the first round, I'm up with my last pick of the draft (#20 overall) and want to make a homer pick. Groshans, Orelvis, Pardinho, and Kloffenstein are all still available. Who would you pick?
  15. The map is missing a dot in the upper southwest portion of Maine. That is also Blue Jay territory
  16. It might be a long year, but it will be a long year with numerous Vlad highlights to give us a preview of what's to come.
  17. I thought Tyson Ross signed with Detroit? I could have sworn I read that on MLB trade rumors.
  18. 1) Find Russ a new home on a playoff contender. He deserves one last chance at a ring. 2) For Marcus to develop permanent laryngitis. Oh, and to be banned from Twitter. Oh, and for him to win his first ten starts and be traded for a boatload of prospects. 3) For the Rockies to decide that Pillar is the centerpiece they need to a Jon Gray deal. 4) Morales to decide to retire, freeing up DH for Hernandez and Tellez.
  19. Dice-K was decent until Japan wrecked his arm in the WBC. Not complaining since he played for Boston.
  20. Good. Not one of our candidates.
  21. Or if they take another job, similar to Bell. I sincerely hope they're not haggling with their top choice over money. Just pay your man and get this over with, Shatkins.
  22. Half of that 106 is dedicated to three players who, assuming Jansen is the starting catcher, won't see the field defensively. Tulo 20, Martin 20, Morales 13. I'd still argue the 40M owed Tulo and Martin was worth 2015/16.
  23. You forgot Travis.
