    Assuming his back isn't being held together with duct tape by season's end, another two year deal wouldn't be the worst thing on earth. He doesn't have a ton of innings on his arm.

    How does speaking the truth about someone, alive or dead, make that person a dick head? Everyone becomes a saint after they die. They may have beaten their wife and kids, kicked every dog that crossed their path, had multiple affairs, stole from their parents, etc, but once they kick it, you're no longer allowed to say one bad word about them. BS If someone is a dick when they're alive, they're still a dick when they're dead. The only difference is they can't be a dick anymore.

    I didn't realize that JP not only worked for the Mets, but also posted on their message boards. I don't remember him doing that when he was GM here.

    I'm fine with giving Pompey a half-season trial as Upton's platoon partner as long as we add Bautista, Moss, Granderson (or someone of their ilk) in right. If he fails (which I'm reasonably sure he will) we have Gurriel, who should be ready by then, or Ramirez.

    I agree with this assessment. My point of contention was with realaccount stating we wouldn't be competing for the division. If we're just going to concede the division the last week of December, why bother pay attention at all? Every year there are teams that look great on paper (us in '13 for instance) that bottom out. I'm not ready to throw my hands up and surrender just yet, especially with $25M left to spend and eight weeks till hitters report.

    Yeah, because injuries never happen and the best team on paper always wins. Seriously, though, if Sale blows out his arm in spring training, Price pitches the way he did in the first half, and Porcello looks like the 2015, how well do you like their chances? Also, they replaced Ortiz with Mitch Moreland. I dare you to say that out loud a couple of times without laughing. Counting on a Panda comeback. An aging Pedroia repeating. JJB maintaining. The ass end of their pen seems alright, but no better than ours in the early innings.

    What about making a play for the younger Guriel brother? A) he's now 23, so he's no longer attached to international spending limits all he'll cost is cash, albeit a ton C) he was a SS, but athletic enough to be our Zobrist or everyday LF
