  1. Typical Jays, winning just enough to get that mediocre pick and fool AA into not selling.
  2. AA is especially stupid if he trades what's left of our farm for Peavy. We aren't making the playoffs, the team needs to be sold off, and bringing in Peavy changes nothing. Should be cause for Beeston and AA's immediate firing if it happens.
  3. Anyone who trades anything substantial for Peavy will regret it immediately. If it isn't a contract year for him, he'll barely get on the mound.

  5. I'm assuming the Yankees will still have to pay him?
  6. This. Plus Montreal has plenty of corporate support and a history as a strong baseball market until the players' union and MLB sabotaged the franchise for their own purposes. For the record, it's stunning how Selig never gets criticized for how he f***ed over the 2003 Expos and more-or-less deliberately rigged a wildcard race by banning them from calling up players from the minors in September. He didn't want to risk the Expos making the playoffs because it might have sunk his "contraction or relocation" plan.
  7. (SS is Stuart Sternberg, the Rays' owner.) And yes, as a former Expos fan, I would jump ship in a nanosecond if the Rays moved to Montreal.
  8. FWIW, the Rays' owner mentioned in an interview that the MLB was pressuring them to consider moving to Montreal a couple years ago. Is that still a possibility?
  9. I never thought the Jays would run away with the division. I knew the Rays were the better team, and possibly the Orioles too. I didn't think we'd be this bad, but as it turned out, AA created a miserable shitpile of a team. The Sox are definitely overachieving massively and still might miss the playoffs.
  10. Mets fans would probably sympathize with us, since they've been in the same boat plenty of times.
  11. This is precisely why blowing it up is necessary. There aren't any reinforcements coming from free agency or the farm system, and keeping a last-place team together and just hoping they'll do better next year is a delusional strategy.
  12. Keep telling us all how "unlucky" JJ is. Sure, the defense sucks, but JJ doesn't ever make his own luck by pitching well.
  13. JJ is a bum, the QO would be a huge overpayment for him, and his trade value plummets with each shelling. Let him walk.
  14. And just enough to fool Beeston and AA to keep the team together even though it's never going to work.
  15. Good, let his selfish ass become some other team's problem. I'd gladly fleece them out of some of their top prospects in return for him.
  16. His production is declining (his OBP, OPS, wOBA, wRC+, and walk percentage are all trending downward since 2011) and his attitude is atrocious.
  17. I can't stand this argument against tanking in particular. Explain to me why the casual fans should matter at all in the process of building a team. It's not like they'd show up if the Astros had an expensive losing team with big names like we do. The only thing that is almost guaranteed to sell tickets is a consistent winner, and that's what Houston is trying to create down the road by building through the draft and the system now.
  18. I really hope Texas is actually dumb enough to give us Profar for that loser.
  19. Bautista really is disgusting at this point. Can't believe I ever rooted for that clown. Aside from that, it was a fun inning I guess, but knowing Beeston and AA, they'll now overreact to winning against the s***** Astros and use it as an excuse to not sell at the deadline and keep everything the same.
  20. LOL. AA won't sell and this team will once again win just enough to get a mediocre pick.
