  1. It’s not fair and it can be a lot of luck, but it’s true. A division winner in the AL East should win at least one of the last two close and winnable games ideally. Our record is very good, but it’s all relative. The Rays and Os will cool but they are still good teams and no guarantee we can keep up this pace either.
  2. It was worth the gamble and it ain’t over yet. I remember the season we released Frank Thomas after 65 ABs. He was pissed. We released Vogelbach after a cup of coffee and he is still going. Belt looks horrendous now have to admit.

While somewhat amusing in his media conferences for being a curmudgeon or ass, giving him a 3 year deal was bizarre. He has his rings and millions. His time has passed in todays game. The players hated him mostly and wanted to leave in droves.

Their +/- on goals was + 128. The next highest in the NHL was 67. Not sure they were lucky. This was however an epic choke any way you slice it. Marchand misses that chance to win series. Ullmark hands the puck to them in OT to bury. Both top notch goalies become semi sieves. Defensive breakdowns. Cant hold lead to win series with a minute left. = Clusterf***
  5. I think they like him as a back up for Bo at SS over anyone else, including on the Bisons, so thats the only reason he is still there. But man he has 1 real job on this team and thats to play elite D. Nobody can be perfect but to stick when you just can't hit RHP, you have to make routine plays pretty close to automatic.
  6. 37 year old Matt Carpenter raking for SDP from the Left side. 144 wRC+ Praying for a renaissance period starting for 35 year old Brandon Belt anytime now. Hard to believe he never got an AB yesterday while Espy hit against RHP in a critical PA.
  7. Thanks. That was quick .690 ball. Thats pretty solid no? Think .690 stacks up well with other top winning % teams? Man, did we own the BoSox in '22. Forgot about that.

Been a Bruins Fan since 1971 when I was old enough to remember listening to them on Bucyk, Orr, Cashman, Hodge and Espo on the "AM Radio". Lost Gm 7 to St Louis for the Cup, and then this. I hate the Presidents f***ing Trophy. The thing is a curse. After Gm 4 we just couldn't get out of our own way and had that inevitable stink of death about us. I always had this dark feeling we would be "the ones" to blow it early after a historic regular season. Glass half full we beat the Canucks in 2011 Game 7 so I can still die a fulfilled man.
  9. It will. It all comes down to execution. Strength of schedule is a thing. Increases the probability of a W or L obviously...but they are still MLB teams and you have to play well to get the Ws. Its probably not statistically accurate but it feels like we lick our chops for series where we play weaker teams the last couple of years, and then don't do the damage we need to against them. Id be curious what our W/L was 21 and 22 vs sub .500 teams.
  10. Ya. We are rolling now. Rotation and pen. Hit a bad patch of games and stats can change pretty quickly early. Obviously I’d like it to hold up, but by say mid July well know more about the pen’s whiff rate ranking.
  11. I can appreciate that it must be difficult to keep track of all the things you are always right about. Perhaps even exhausting.
  12. Holy. Settle down on the troll and dunking drive by shooting spree lol. We are streaking, and most importantly it’s not even May 1st.
  13. You would think. But I’ve seen saying that since Biggio first came up with that elite eye. Lol. Biggio tranche of stats when he came up in that first season were so good, including hard hit rate. Was tantalizing. Then they figured him out. I’m hoping! Only been a month for Varsho.
  14. Hmmm. I think most would have preferred Kirk or Jano go in the deal over Moreno, even though they are valuable players too now. AZ wanted more I’d guess or maybe our org saw more in the guys we kept. Nobody knows for certain.
  15. Ya. Some do struggle. Some also take off with the good ol’ “change of scenery” narrative. Got any of that documentation to share? I’m curious.
  16. Varsho finishes April with a 70 wRC+ and 0 fWAR. Its April but a lot of the takes on his trade had him sprouting a lot of offensive skills he has yet to display - even ZiPS was in on it. In the 3rd percentile in average EV and his D stats are down from '22 Hard not to like this player though for some reason. 5 months of season left - hope he can find it. They are busting him in and up. He is better than this.
  17. Congratulations. Being blocked by Wilner is a badge of honor.
  18. Well Alek battled. That’s a big W. let’s keep rolling!!
  19. Ya that was as good as I’ve seen it. Beating it in and off the bat and on to their shins lol.
  20. That was a money play 2 out. Jesus. Robbed.
  21. Hard not to love Kirk’s ABs even when not mashing.
  22. They throw a lot into his kitchen inside.
  23. Chappy. What a break. Dodged a bullet.
  24. Let’s go big man. Find it again.
