  1. I heard that. Also heard he got smacked around but i haven't seen the line. AA said he wants him to be sitting around 95 before they move him up. In the off season he works out at the Coyotes Den here in Calgary. There is one guy here who catches him. His indoor bullpens are standing room only.
  2. I think we would all agree that when it comes to assessing who is "better", especially at C, there is more to the evaluation than just the stick.
  3. Kirk's valuable, but I don't think he is better than Moreno overall. Moreno's bat has been improving. Still not much pop and surprised at how little he BBs. His D has been solid. I think he has thrown out something like 70% of base runners attempted steal. So far he has been worth more WAR than Kirk. Longer term I think he is definitely a better bet for a few reasons including fitness/control.
  4. First game of 2nd Q of season today. 92 W pace for the first Q. Not too shabby. Tough test vs Strider. Lets hope the Bassitt Hound can match up. Thought we might see Calgary's own Soroka on Sunday but AA said he won't be available yet for it. Will catch 3 NYY games next week in person - first ones of the season. Looking forward to it.
  5. Tell us why this is nonsense big Brownie. Join the fun. Give us your happy talk. Its an option to consider. At least the Rays have done a nice job with that approach, aside from extending Franco.
  6. 100%. I just don't see a sustainable winner yet compared to other top franchises. I see a lot of $ spent on FA's, raised bullpens/new bars and a 89-93 Win window team.
  7. Nothing like a lead off walk in the 8th in a 1-0 game. Ug. Let’s go Swanson.
  8. Sorry, ya was too much I ripped on him Jim. I am frustrated by the hype, the twitter wars and the opening day assignment etc. He seems like a good kid and obviously I hope he finds it for his sake and ours. I'm still not buying the pitch clock thing though.
  9. I think he is just overrated, overhyped and out of shape. Too many Hazel documentary episodes, not enough getting ready for the season and clock.
  10. I blame Jonn. All his fault for over fapping silver fox.
  11. We were oh so close in this game…so glad to be using Swanson now.
  12. Springer is cold but we are paying him 150. He has a track record and that’s a spot he has to execute in. He stunk out that at bat but I can live with the move.
  13. Soto destroyed George. Late on 2 fastballs and then dropped the hammer. But we got one in on a solid AB by Chappy.
  14. Yep. He threw 22 SL last start. Not one whiff. Just totally off.
  15. Manoah no bueno stuff so far. The SL is extinct.
  16. Yep. Almost 2000 PAs now with career 129 wRC+ and he has carried over the scorching finish of '22 to this season. Elite for SS. But you usually pay a premium for the mitt at SS. And after a certain age (usually 5 ish years from now for him) I don't know of many SS that have improved D. Not like he is starting from a high bar. So if the bat tails off much, we would be stuck with a boat anchor. Wasn't that long ago in first third of '22 some were saying he was -1 on D and +1 on O to Baez, at SS. I think his offensive performance is laying that thinking to rest. His bat to ball skills blow me away - then he tanks one 460. But Spank...and the end of the day it all depends on the price and what he/we will agree to. He is going to hit the market and sell his wares to the highest bidder me thinks.
  17. I'm not pessimistic at all bud. Its just business. I do agree they both possess some rare talents. They value themselves highly and the only way they don't sell to the highest bidder in FA, is a large overpay, which I wouldn't want anyway. Just because some teams are paying that kind of money to players like Baez and Xander, doesn't mean we need to or should go down that path. If we are talking something Riley ish it makes more sense. But again...they have to agree and I think they will bet someone will pay them more. If the Rays can find that kind of production from a Yandy Diaz at 3/24 - then we have to do a better job. I could care less what any player in any sport says...only what they do. "I love TOR and want to play here forever" ya da ya da. Its virtually meaningless. Bo may have improved his D this season, emphasis on its May, but he is still bottom third.
  18. They are but I’ll be surprised if we sign even one of them. Bo is pretty hard to value given his limited D abilities for SS. I could see a Jano extension. I don’t see us keeping Chappy.
  19. I like it. Not a finished product with command. Not a lot of movement on the FB like Merryweather, but up top of the zone or just above it’s a weapon. He will need that breaking ball.
  20. As a 5th for $10M if he can maintain even close to this, such a massive boost with Manoah struggling.
  21. Sure is awesome literally expecting strikes, outs and innings from Kooch.
  22. When you look at what AA has built in ATL, the Rays and O's. Even how BoSox might be coming back etc you can build a comparative doomer or glass half full case. We have traded a lot of prospects and control like Morenos, spent a fortune on FAs. We don't have Bo, Vlad or Chappy long term. The pipeline cupboard is concerning. I hope we actually have a sustainable winner. Time will tell.
  23. Not bad. Caught a lot of the plate but had enough V and all his pitches working so got away with it. Not a lot of whiffs but a lot of soft contact early. In the 7th they started hitting everything on the button and went to pen.
  24. Using the ol' Cineplex "butter" on the ball to increase spin rate?
