  1. Great way to start the 2nd part of the season. Nice W!! Took advantage of opportunities.
  2. Was just thinking same my man. Lots of rest. He was throwing the ball well.
  3. Ya, way too early to write off his bat. I'm more worried about Kirks.
  4. Man you guys are doing flips ^ to be gentle. Every team's system deals with injuries and covid year (s) and everything else. That whole article: "Shapiro ‘still concerned’ about high levels of Blue Jays farm system" from 2017 was a bold shot at AA on how they were going to be different and he meant waves...as in waves. He even mentions beyond Bo and Vlad - "not just two"(AA signed Vlad). Objective analysis would conclude thats not been delivered on very well, even if you throw in a Kirk, Biggio and a Manoah at where they are in their careers.
  5. Two comments: Agree and lets hope so!
  6. “You don’t just need two guys, you need waves of guys,” said Shapiro. “And behind them, you need another wave of guys. I feel like that’s coming. It’s probably two to four years away that it’s going to get here, but when it comes, what we’ve continued to execute on whether it’s Andrew Tinnish leading us in international, we’ve got waves of guys coming. “I’m encouraged by that.” - Mark Shapiro August 31st, 2017 Been more ripples than waves.
  7. Thats fair. I agree it would be hard to get a net gain for this season but I'm sure they will be taking calls. I would not move him for a sack of s*** thats for sure.
  8. No. Good players are traded every year at the deadline. Depends on the needs of each team and the deal. He is a good player having a resurgent season so it would have to compelling.
  9. Varsho is a 27 year old career 95 wRC+ bat who has never hit LHP in 1400 PAs. Can he get back to that? Well he is already there vs LHP. He has never been a really good hitter. Can he have upside we don't see yet? Sure. How likely is that? Guys like Edwin and Jose were unicorns taking off like they did later careers. It doesn't change the fact its a luxury we can't currently afford having him in LF the way he is hitting right now. To start the year Schneids had him in the order as our clean up hitter. I just don't get the rose colored glasses of optimism.
  10. I don't mean trading KK and whatever for someone that wont help them win this year....point being we don't have KK next year. He has value now and we can't have both Varsho and KK in CF.....if Varsho and/or others actually started hitting this could change. I think its a realistic moving target before deadline.
  11. The ol' "clubhouse crushing" narrative is way way too over used. Are you kidding me? Depends on what comes back in the trade to help the club win now. Not proposing he is sold off for parts. I don't mean a useful piece coming back that isn't a useful piece now. Has to add net value. KK is gone next year more anyway.
  12. The process. The guy has had 1500 PAs in MLB. That’s 3 full seasons for many. The sample size isn’t huge but it’s not small. After 1500 PAs unless there is a pretty big adjustment the leagues kind of know what he is and the swing holes. He has shown in the past he isn’t this bad offensively.
  13. 100% agree. Kirk has just been bad. An extremely slow GB slap hitter is a bad combo. I have been hopeful for the first 91 games of positive regression. I am squinting hard to see the offensive run production/game more match their underlying numbers. It should. I think changes are warranted as a contingency regardless. I like the kid and what he brings overall, but Varsho's offence has been awful. If he was a 100 bat in CF we could live with that.
  14. Quite the game yesterday. Great comeback. 50 Wins at the break is solid. At the end of the day its a number relative to what other teams are doing. We can't afford both KK in CF and Varso with his 0.7 WAR 70's wRC+ in LF. The D just isn't worth THAT much. We paid a 4 WAR player price for Varsho (at the time) and he has to give us more offence from LF - the drag bunts vs LHP are nifty but aren't gonna get it done. Move KK for a useful piece and shift Varsho to CF? KK has had a solid first half. This would be less of an issue if Vlad was '21 ish mashing balls and wasn't worth 0.4 WAR, but he is at this point.
  15. I get firing the hitting coach (and others) but I don’t blame them. We have bunch of professional bats that know what to do. They just aren’t consistently executing. The 3-0 swing from Vlad case in point. It’s a shake up move and sometimes that has to be done.
  16. It was nuts and won’t change. The extra wild card and some parity has ensured the market paradigm has shifted for deadlines to a much stronger sellers market. Caveat emptor. Prices will be high. IF Greene and Ryu can add some value it would be an incredible boost coming from inside the house “cheap”.
  17. Nobody is catching the Rays. They banked so many wins they will easily ride out this inevitable rough patch. O’s survived their skid and are back on track. Still catchable but we will have to play .600 + ball.
  18. Javier Baez @ 6/140M is a disaster most saw coming.
  19. Thought same. Also thought Bo made that look harder than it needed to be. That’s an out.
  20. So true. It’s sad. Kind of like Fat Elvis at the end. He was a great. HOF 1st ballot.
  21. Can’t understand the Belt hate you hear. 127 wRC+ and has been worth more WAR than Vlad. A 38% K rate ain’t great lol. But in the big picture he has been pretty good.
  22. DET blows man. Pile it on. Springer always looking to do max damage.
  23. His strength aka forte is drag bunts. Not home runs. Just a bad joke. Moving on. Nice Vlad.
