  1. Wins a W. nice comeback. Cavan baby! Romano throwing gas to finish. That was needed.
  2. Game still winnable. But this team has been basically the same roller coaster inconsistency since 2021. It’s all adds up to 87-92 wins at the end of the day. Could be worse. We want better.
  3. Probably on Ryu. With today’s surgery track record maybe he will come back 40 lbs lighter and touching 98. A Korean Chapman.
  4. Better get on the wrangling Spank. The eeyores are herding up.
  5. Never understood the adulation for Atkin's performance. He has been ok. I seriously can't stand listening to one word out of his Ned Flanders sounding mouth, but performance wise I've been ambivalent to leaning "wouldn't miss him". Comments criticizing AA for selling the farm, and their talk of bringing up new "waves" of talent from their farm routinely to augment the roster cost effectively, defy credulity at this point. You can make a pretty credible "glass half empty" concerning case about where the team is at now and what the future looks like. Alas. Admittedly you can also spin something rosier. Time will tell.
  6. This is what I was trying to say. You just said it better.
  7. Meh. For a couple recent outings. Many regular posters were screaming for his DFA ITT 2/3 weeks ago. Just look back. Agreed though that when his slider is working he is better, and he had been throwing it better recently.
  8. Bass had a couple decent outings man. Recency bias. He has been pretty s*** this year. It’s a red herring anyway. Just leave Francis in. No argument on White. Some on here have a lot of faith in his arm. I’ve never seen why.
  9. Bass was ass and no savior. All he had to do was leave Francis in given the way his stuff was looking. He gave up 1 but he was also getting whiffs and soft contact. Then go to Romano = W
  10. and last nights game. Snatched defeat and 2 W's from the jaws of victory.
  11. Dude Ks less than 5 per 9. Bad things happen when balls in play too often.
  12. Just not a big Cimber fan in leverage. A useful arm but gives up too much contact. not sure why they pulled Francis.
  13. LOL. thats awesome. re- watching that show with my 15 year old and cracks up both up.
  14. We need to get Varsho some elevator cleat lifts. He would have had a couple more already this year.
  15. He can still play but he will be off his normal speed game and small ball.
  16. Rays playing .700 + ball in mid June. We need to leap frog the Os and Yanks while we are relatively healthy. You can’t win every “winnable” game but honestly in this division you kind of have to at this point. No longer “early”. Last night was a tough L.
  17. 3 right by Varsho. No chance.
  18. Kirk and Belt hit balls hard to win it and no cigar. Can’t really be upset at Bo he has raked all year. Win it in extras.
  19. Why does Vlad think he has the green light to give up outs?
  20. Lol. No s*** John. Been working out since I was 14 and I’m 58. The point is they didn’t use to do that. They used to smoke cigarettes in the dressing room between periods. Point being activities and routines have changed as more information about the body & sport has been obtained and frankly, the amount of money they can make has gone up. Athletes at all levels in all sports are adapting. This change in behavior and routine is but one example.
  21. True but not as much anymore. Its a 6 month grind. A lot of baseball players today develop strict in season nutrition and physical exercise routines. They lay off a lot of heavy weight work but they do do stamina enhancing activity. Much like a lot of NHL players ride bikes between periods and after games. They have a grueling travel schedule but at least in baseball they have 81 home games and when they hit another city they are there 3/4 days which allows a bit more routine to exist over a lot of sports.
  22. 100%. The Xander deal is crazy IMO and I wouldn’t have signed Marcus for 7/175 at his age and somewhat limited high end track record, as much as I like him as a player and hard worker.
  23. Couldn't agree more. Very bad for baseball when the signing sugar high wears off. Overpaid husks running around the game no bueno. They are stretching out term of signings to lower the AAV and NPV of the deal, but the legacy costs still will impact future roster construction decisions. No way around that.
  24. Ya, there was a lot of negative focus on his 7/175 and I understand why, but he still had 4.2 WAR - 2022 at 2B. Given the FA market is around $8.5M/WAR - right now anyway - $25M AAV for Marcus is a deal.
  25. Manoah off the reservation but for the first time the signings of Gausman, Berrios, Hound...with a Kooch kicker all firing on most of their cylinders for the first time. Coulda been much worse. Coulda signed DeGrom.
