  1. We have been so lucky this year on injuries overall, bound to have some bad luck at some point. At least we dealt for a competent defensive SS at the deadline in case Bo goes down again....oh wait.
  2. Ya, no report yet. Hope he didn't retweak that injury. Espy at SS no bueno
  3. Hell of an effort and catch by George!
  4. 2 hits through 4 IP off a shitballer like Syndergaard just isn't good enough. Lets go Jays. Need this Series win.
  5. Ya, real shame with Kikuchi throwing so well. Calhoun back from the dead and pissing me off. Still shocking he is their 4 hitter.
  6. What a boost it gives this team when Vlad flashes the home run pop. Its a totally different offense. Kikuchi is a boss and this ump is f***ed!! Both sides of plate.
  7. Joined this Board in July 2013 and have never done a GDT. Might have to break one out if we don't win today and try to get some good mojo brewing.
  8. I actually forced myself to listen to him for a change. Typical Ross - Ned Flanders GM speak. Trust the process. Batted ball numbers impress them but not getting the results. Nobody is pressing that they see. Manoah was being checked out health wise before going down. They like their team. The end.
  9. Probably need 20 more W's no matter how or when they come. Not going to be easy. Hard to believe we are behind this 8 ball.
  10. Its been a good year for the Tellez deal. Rowdy has been s***. Richards elite and Francis useful.
  11. Buck called that a FB. It was 83. Vlad got all of it. Nice to see. Too bad Belt didnt get on on the come backer just before it.
  12. Cabrera and Mayza give us two LH studs in the pen. Bounty of riches.
  13. He might make 2 WAR this season. Not that bad. Not sure about the next 2/42 at 35 and 36. I feel for the arms...they have to be so perfect with this run support.
  14. True, but all pitches in the zone aren't created equal. some are pitchers strikes and good takes.
  15. Thats fair. Martin and Votto both have more career WAR. DH. I remember him well in MINN and he was very average. Your suspicion is clearly warranted given how he took off in BOS. His playoff successes and that huge market didn't hurt his vote.
  16. .579/.586/1.105 against the first pitch for a lot of 2021. Being aggressive was his friend. Pitchers wised up and fish on him hoping he won't zone up a 1st pitch smart to rip at. Its working. They don't mind falling behind if he doesn't swing. Will he adjust?
  17. The hypocrisy and double standard with Ortiz bothers me. Not that he doesn't belong in the HOF. But lets let the others in too. At the time Bonds was doing PEDS it wasn't even technically outside the rules. Regardless he is the best hitter I've ever seen.
  18. I liked Price’s line and the post it note he had on his locker door “Pitch Better”.
  19. I don’t think Gausman wants to go anywhere. He just wants to win. Also his last 10 starts are way down from his first 10 results wise. I’m sure he knows that and is thinking about what he can do to get back to that level for his team.
  20. That team if I recall had a pretty high K rate offensively and there was lots of complaints about lack of contact/balls in play and too much reliance on the HR. It was a hell of a fun watch though most days and in the playoffs 15 and 16 they didnt win but came to play giving us some iconic franchise moments. But man we went from 3 guys with 40 HRs to a team where nobody might hit 30. Some bombs would help with the ol' RISP # in 2023. We feel out of too many games this year based on being behind too few runs to actually feel that way lol. I will never forget the 93 Jays beating the Phillies 15-14 in that World Series after a s*** start from Todd Stottlemyre. They were never out of a game. I do miss the no excuses "this isn't the try league...this is the get it done league" attitude from JD and others of that era. They wouldn't blame anything on randomness and luck, even though it is a factor. Especially against KC in the playoffs, and that forever f***tard ump Nelson.
  21. As an older fan I tend to compare this team to the 87-93 Jays, the Expos 1981, 1994 and the 2014-2016 teams: 2020 – Weird covid season - blown out in the playoffs. The team and season had few expectations. 2021 – Most likable exciting team with Semien, Ray CY season and Vlad/Teo raking. Manoah comes up and shoves creating excitement. The Pen cost us the season early. The FO went for it on Berrios at the deadline, but Brad Hand offset that. The hole was too deep to climb out of. Lots of post season rationalizations about how if we just played at RC all year we would have made it into playoffs, and how this experience would help the young core giving them "vetrin presents" for a real run. Montoyo universally lauded for handling the team so well with Dunedin, Buffalo and RC transitions. 2022 – Kirk emerges. Gausman delivers, Berrios & Kooch struggle. Manoah shoves. Ross pulls the get out of jail free card and fires Buntoyo. We take the top wildcard and blow it in epic painful fashion. 2023 – 5 FA signings rotation produces. Manoah craters. Teo/LGJ out Varhso in. Pen much improved and performing. Team struggles to score runs and key players under perform most projections offensively, so far. OF D improved. KK and Belt produce. TBD what happens. This is the set of series coming up that might determine it all. They certainly have the talent. 2024 – Chappy & Ryu likely gone. KK, Whit, Belt uncertain. Springer, Bassit another yr older. Arb years and another year closer to FA for Vlad/Bo. There is a lot of randomness and luck in baseball and perception can be reality. A deep(er) run in the playoffs creates an identity that changes perceptions, but this window of a 90 +/- 2 win team is frustrating, with its big payroll and being the 11th oldest team in baseball. Having said all that we could be the Mets, Padres, Rockies Angels and any other number of teams much worse off, so there is that, to keep perspective.
  22. He was bad but it looks worse than it was. Our offense puts pressure on our arms almost every night. Kyle Gibson pitching through the 8th says it all. A 2 run deficit feels like 5. Jano baserunning error - down 2 runs. This team can be maddening.
  23. 6 pitch inning. Good start. Made him work.
