  1. Ok - I get that. But Wright has a lifetime .882 OPS. That's a long way from the .685 Lawrie is putting up so far this year...I think Lawrie has .800 OPS ability and potential. How "lite" is the question?
  2. Lawrie seems to have matured a lot and his D has been exceptional. He has handled a tough assignment well switching back and forth 2nd and 3rd. He busted on to the scene putting up a .950 OPS in 150 PAs in 2011. Since then he has had injuries and issues at the plate. Im no hitting coach. He is 24 and I like the kids offensive potential, but I still see hitches in that swing and an approach where he often jumps at the ball. He swing and miss ratio is high and he often has questionable pitch selection swinging at balls far off the plate. Does anyone hit more chopping foul ground balls? Im a fan of the player. Curious what people think his ceiling is after watching 1350 PAs now.
  3. Not practical. There is only a very small group of pitchers who can do what Buehrle has dealing that goo. Also, there are lots of guys who don't throw particularly hard who have arm trouble. Its not only about velocity - its about mechanics.
  4. I think Gose is cocky and an enigma. Other than speed and D his offense is a complete question mark still. He has an awesome AB last night and has looked better but 2014 SMALL SAMPLE SIZE. His SB % along with his minor league avg weren't great, but he may be one of the rare guys who can transcend those numbers in MLB. MLB pitchers will start to adjust to him if he becomes a threat and I'm excited to see how it handles it. This guy needs an OBP. I think he can be one of those guys who learns to cut down his swing and be very selective. .650 OPS ish. Stick!
  5. Look at who we just swept and swept and swept. If we are playing like we can on O and D, and pitch ok we will be fine. OAK beat DET and we had some success against OAK didn't we? I don't understand the lack of confidence in this team. I think we need a SP arm still but this is a good team.
  6. Whats your issue with the Delabar Thames trade? Snider for Lincoln. who cares.
  7. don't care how hard they throw if they have command and can get people out.
  8. Im excited to think we will get a chance to really see if that's true or not. They also said that about Goins. I am really hoping Gose sticks.
  9. I think we already had some lows with the blown leads we had by the pen and getting mashed in a double header, big losses to the Os and losing series there to Bosox. I think at one point that drove us 4 or 5 games under. I hope we don't go much lower than that period for long during rest of season.
  10. Joes HR OR When the last out came on Classic 16-15 game in the rain against the Phillies in 93 WS...that was an ugly game but the Jays fought back to win. The game had everything including Stottlemyre bashing his chin in in a slide and a key hit from Henderson who didn't get many for us. OR Timlin flip to Carter on first on Nixon drag attempt to close 92 WS OR Alomar's A's HR Toss up. Hard to pick one. Sorry I cheated.
  11. I think if it was called the "irrational venting with a lack of perspective" thread its more aptly named. I totally get that. I yelled "f***!!" right along with Casey last night when that ball bounced away from EE.
  12. fair enough.
  13. yes - and he is CHEAP.
  14. Considering the impact Reyes has had to the positive contributing to this run we are on with his speed etc we can live with yesterday. His D has been a concern but the NYY have put up with Jeter all this years who hasn't had any range for a lifetime, and they still do ok.
  15. That's absolutely true. All teams make key errors and blow leads. Some more than others and so far 1st place in AL East says we are doing ok on that score on a comparable basis.
  16. Amen to that....Reyes owned it. There is no excuse. Its in the past. Lets get a new W streak going today.
  17. Look at how Rays lost to us the night before. We had a little payback on us last night. Ya, it really sucks a guy making 16mm a year cant make a routine throw to close a game, but it happens in ball. But we won 9 in a row...take the positives and win today.
  18. What?! he had the 3rd out....the runner on the bases got a broken bat bloop. Hardly Caseys fault!
  19. gotta end it and come back boys in the bottom men .....suck it up.
  20. Just home and turned on game. Saw highlights. Still boogles my mind we DFA'ed "E5" and now AA has that behemoth for $10mm per through 2016
  21. Ug - taking on that monster salary on top of Reyes' monster salary and Buerles monster salary makes me nauseous. On top of that we give up Lind (who I think is totally underrated) and two senior prospects (if that's what you are proposing?) is a large cost. Gets us $Lee$...a true #1, albeit aging and arguably in regression. That's called going all in...more. Looks great if we make playoffs and provides a lasting hurt if we don't. (unless the arm and bat flame out).
