  1. I like Jose a lot but those numbers with his age make me cringe. But when you look at Beltran deal and Ortiz on 1 year 16mm deals its not out of the realm of possibility.
  2. That makes more sense agreed and unlikely Edwin vetoes an almost guaranteed trip to playoffs.
  3. Are you a MOD now too?
  4. Agree. The contract he signed wasn't his fault(baseball is a business) and I thought he always played hard and as well as he could.
  5. Yup. At times. Still much better than the old one. Got to allow some venting now and then. Its been an exciting but bloody frustrating year.
  6. Best wishes Reyes. Although I was occasionally shocked/pissed at your lack of range; propensity for flat footed bone head throws; wild hacks at the plate...you provided a lot of excitement on offense at times and were a very good team mate. The smiles and antics never bothered me and I love how fired up you were in tight games. I never thought you were as anywhere near as bad as some on here. Father time just catching up with you and a bad contract which was never your fault.
  7. On holiday in NS and woke up to this in disbelief this am. Something else must be in the works for pitching although old man Hawkins is still useful. Still seems odd to move Castro/Hoffman and only gain Hawkins arm given this teams weakness. AA doesn't appear to be giving up on 2015. If Tulo is healthy this line up becomes unworldly and major D upgrade. 2 injury plagued SS's but one much better than the other. Castro and Hoffman sting but can live with it.
  8. And how is that working for us Herp? You haven't even mentioned the pen. Especially when we lost Stro (injuries happen in baseball) the risks around RA, Hutch, Sanchez and Norris were ensuring we need an optimum case scenario to compete. Cecil barely pitched in the Spring. Even Stro only has 20 MLB starts under his belt. Norris and Sanchez have battled command their ML careers. I didn't see either as an effective lock. Mark B at his age has been a pleasant surprise for me that he continues to as consistent. Like it or not we changed the paradigm with the MIA deal on payroll and the age of our team. IMO Rogers was in for a penny and needed to go in for a pound. I don't see it as wasting money. We didn't have enough in the pen or rotation and its playing out that way. I think we have won 7 games were we scored 4 runs or less. Our inability to hold leads has been jugular. We added big pieces in JD and Martin and we sit at the same W totals. Depressing.
  9. You know what gets me about this? Everyone knew we needed arms even before we lost Stro and after we traded Lind. We didn't address it in off season with FAs/trade market enough and now in order to do this mid season we will have to pay an inordinate amount in future value of prospects. Not to mention how many games we have lost since the start of 2015 which makes us even more desperate to have to add if we want to compete for a wild card. We have tit hooked ourselves again.
  10. Seriously. 99% of the time I hate bunting. Especially sac bunts. But one player who needs to be able to bunt at a high success rate when called upon is Goins. Brutal.
  11. It's easy to 2nd guess but we rolled the dice with Tepura and got out of it. Loup in high leverage against RHH with the options we had available was a poor descison. Loup is a useful arm imo but he has struggled all year in those situations.
  12. Pounding bottom part of the zone with the FB. Nice job Sanchez.
  13. Not the point. A sports entertainment broadcaster beaking off about the mental capacity of Dominican people is stupid. Sure he can say it. He can say pretty much anything he wants. Free countries. He can and should also be called out for it when he is being a dickhead. Dismissing it as "fake outrage" marginalizes legitimate concerns being raised...Bautista's response was measured and reasonable.
  14. Nice catch. Nice crunch Carrera. Can't say I like you much as a player but props due.
  15. On the heels of our suicide here come the Ms on the high throw to 2nd.
  16. Keystone cops on the base paths. Goins is so bad at the dish.
  17. Reading the last few pages of this thread not hard to tell we lost and the eating of our own young ensued. Jesus. Lets get em today Jays. A few breaks our way last night and it would have been a different outcome.
  18. Its not productive or proper to call Americans, Dominicans or Newfies dumb(I was just f***ing with you on that. I'm originally from NS too). Its especially not right for people of supposed influence who speak to millions of people, because it perpetuates stereotypes. When Don Imus called the Rutgers girls bball team "nappy-headed hos" people were rightly offended. I actually don't hear people of influence or leaders calling Americans dumb, at least not openly. It would be equally as ignorant. Cowherd's comments were not well chosen and Bautista's statement in response to his clarification was measured and appropriate. If Dominicans want to poke fun or judge their education system etc that's one thing, but let them do it.
  19. Big pitch count Will be seeing Hendricks tonight.
  20. Edwin crushed one foul down LF line. Got fooled on the out. It happens. Its King Felix. That's what he does. If he gets a good pitch to hit he needs to be ripping.
  21. Estrada getting his FB by these guys a lot surprisingly. We haven't seen his best change command yet. He is battling.
