  1. Shouldn't be a surprise bud. Look who started it. His Trojan horse into the new board. But now I see his name is in red permanently thankfully.
  2. kumbaya. Hope Edwin doesn't join in the chorus. April 3rd can't come soon enough for me. Coming to see them in TOR against LAD May 6,7,8th.
  3. Ya. At first I saw this as all business and didn't mind his comments. I'm a big fan of his. But they are starting to grate on me for the timing and some of the other reasons mentioned. I like him calling out Rogers in a way, but I want this team to win and the focus on that. As far as him giving the Jays a hometown discount that's only in hindsight. He got a big long term deal after one monster year. There was risk on both sides.
  4. Agree. Although losing Hendriks was tough and I never thought Id see Happ get more than Gallardo, their logic on the rotation and depth was sound.
  5. Reminds you of what a "hometown discount" we had on 10 for Edwin and Jose for 14.
  6. I was expecting it with Edwin and Jose contracts ending. They have been cornerstones of any success we have had. They will all shut that talk down during the season hopefully and focus on the games on the field. I don't see the failed Saunders deal as much of a distraction. He was a non factor last year and big question mark for 2016. If he is unhealthy and Pompey flounders the Revere deal may play larger than I expected.
  7. The whole deal concept had me scratching my head frankly. The best thing about baseball is its unpredictable and its all going to unfold on the field...soon.
  8. Me too. I didn't see it as some sort of defining moment of the Shapiro regime a few were making it out to be, from a confidence perspective. I'm really hoping Pompey blossoms this year and Saunders and/or Bruce becomes a side show.
  9. Jose is consistent. Found this article from just after 2014 season: "You can say this about Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista; he doesn’t mince words. In a wrap-up interview with the Toronto media (H/T John Lott, National Post), the Blue Jays right-fielder spoke candidly about the season, his admiration for rookie outfielder Dalton Pompey, and a few other topics. When the topic turned to fellow outfielder, and impending free agent, Melky Cabrera, Bautista dropped what will likely be a ten ton brick on the backs of Blue Jays fans everywhere when he replied to the likelihood that Cabrera would not return in 2015. “I have to assume that (Cabrera will not return). When you have the chance to re-sign one of the top free agents and you don’t take advantage of that opportunity, the chances of him coming back to you are pretty slim.” ps. Thank god the Jays didn't resign Melky
  10. No chance in a 2016 year we should be competing for a flag. And because we get a pick for a QO if they sign elsewhere there is not much chance of a deadline deal that would be worth moving them. Plus they have10/5 veto. Welcome to the board.
  11. I don't blame Jose for the answer or the media for asking the question. This is as expected. He was clear in an interview with Brunt last year that this was his position. Some fans want to hear "I'd give my left nut to stay in TOR...I owe you all everything". We are going to have to endure a lot of talk on this subject beyond whats already taken place.
  12. Yup. What other essential criteria could there be?
  13. I hope we stay healthy. I just booked trip to TOR to catch LAD in town in May. I haven't been this excited for a season in a long time.
  14. Ya, was kinda bored at the office and thought I might try my first and last attempt at trolling
  15. I'm expecting to see your name in red any moment.
  16. I'd put Manny Lee over Fernandez and Alomar.
  17. I saved some emails on this at the time debating it with a few buds. I was nervous about it after the one big season. We saw big numbers and then big drop offs from quite a few players in the roid era. L Gonzalez and Brady Anderson getting 50 HR come to mind. There were others. I didn't know if that big leg kick swing timing would stick. It was a good deal for both at the time with risks involved. Turned out in hindsight great for us. Another big year in 2016 and Jose is probably our best offensive player ever if he isn't already.
  18. lol! good one. I heartily agree.
  19. I don't want to lose either but I will understand the decision if they have to make it. Just going to have to trust in smarter people than us to make the right decisions on this. They just can't give in to casual fan short term emotional connections to the current team. Vernon Wells and Pujols signing debates comes to mind. If it's done it's got to be part of a larger plan.
  20. This deal just continues to pay dividends for the A's! http://m.thestar.com/#/article/sports/bluejays/2014/11/28/blue_jays_trade_brett_lawrie_to_as_for_josh_donaldson_reports.html
  21. lol....this thread took a wrong turn at Albuquerque and got into the coffee and cream debate. I love this forum.
  22. Yup. Last yr I saw series in Hou and Anaheim, but there is no value in it worth the dollar premium. So sticking with TOR visits this season. Its easy there. Train downtown. Get a hotel on the strip and walk to games. Take my kid to the CN Towe and the aquarium (yet again) and of course to the games. He likes those jr jays Sat's a lot.
  23. Me too. Going to try to connect with him in TOR when we head there. Planning 2 early season series visits. Cant wait for 2016 season.
  24. Ya, me too. Funny you mention the higher content in light roast. Most people think its other way around. I cant drink it after noon ish or my sleep is fked. But I drink way too much until then. I drink plain and neat rooibos tea in the evening. Got hooked on it in South Africa. The coconut oil kind of soothes the flavor replacing dairy and is reputed by some to have a lot of healthy properties. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/10/25/coconut-oil-benefits_n_4164278.html Sorry...this should be in an OTT. How about those Jays?
