  1. I rarely do it because it can be remarkably unsatisfying talking Jays/baseball with any real life friends. Yesterday I sent a text saying "our Jays have been sucking" to a bud who is an otherwise intelligent guy who has been a fan since the late 80s. His response: "Yes sir, terrible so far. I think Drew should say up as a starter, move Dickey to the pen, and send Cecil down to the minors"
  2. Nope. He misremembered remember?
  3. wRC+ 170 is park adjusted. That was only 2014. I made the Votto comparison last week or so because that's what I think we might be dealing with post labrum surgery.
  4. After 23 gms we are K'ing 28% as a team. I think we were MLB top 5 team 2015 lowest K rate. Glass half full this mess isn't going to continue.
  5. Hurl has confirmed that RA (not Dickey....just the dick) is indeed THE Dogg.
  6. Sounds like Jesse "The Body" Ventura needs to investigate this alleged far reaching conspiracy, with such devastating implications for humanity.
  7. True and use of Leon to Souza still haunts me, but Gibby would look a hell of a lot better if anyone other than Osuna was doing, or better yet exceeding, what we expected. Managing a dumpster fire in the pen can't be easy.
  8. And he is having calf issues and DHing more than Id like. I honestly don't mind the stars running smart, in situations when they know it counts( like 1B to 3B with 0/1 out). I remember Edwin wrecking his hamstring trying to leg out a GB. We don't need those kind of injuries. I respect guys who play hard, but I respect those that play smart and stay on the field more.
  9. I was in HOU 2015 for 4 gms there we lost mid May and it seemed very bleak at that time. I am suprised that this team, which is better, is in this sustained rut. I don't think Shapiro will be making any big moves to bolster it. Really hoping that as pro ball players they get their collective s*** together soon to right this thing. The AL East title defense is still there for them.
  10. Absolutely true. I don't remember him being quite this bad though, and his D never seemed to suffer 2015. I'd love to see a bit more consistency. Hopefully he can bounce back and get hot. We desperately need him to.
  11. I'll look again. It was tongue in cheek anyway. Let's hope Travis gets back and plays close to what he did, and that Goins starts to hit the fking ball some and takes some more BBs
  12. Im not on the Goins train but this is from the "Ryan Goins Can Stick?" thread Sept 1st 2015. We were all feelin pretty giddy about the Jays at that point.
  13. I get it. I think its being considered by the FO now. I'd be surprised if it wasn't. If Cecil and Storen were pitching like their track records now, its obvious it wouldn't be an issue. Floyd should be fine in the rotation. Atkins public comments about the pen signal it.
  14. I have no argument with this. Agreed.
  15. I trust Floyd more against LHH than I do Sanchez in that role.
  16. This is accurate technically as Atkins is ultimately responsible, but Gibbons has a ton of influence on the decisions. I think we've seen lots of evidence that supports that notion.
  17. His comment "I won't rest....." did sound a lot to me like OJ " I won't rest until I find the real killers".
  18. I am torn. I feel for him. My 7 year old and I listened to him last night on the way to his little league. My son is upset about losing him and trying to understand it all. Listening to Cola lay it all out like that is tough. On the other hand, his voice started to sound like Oscar Pistorius testifying at his trial with a forced, constant cry talk. I thought that guy was a complete liar. I don't know what happened and its frustrating. I want to believe what he says based on what I heard last night, but its hard to do given all we have seen on these deals. If he did do it, as many have said, I do understand the motivation. But I'm less inclined to be very sympathetic.
  19. That's what I'm finding. The WAY they are losing is so tough to take. Maddening. Last nite I didn't PVR or watch it after 1-0. That's something I never do. I just knew Sale vs RA was a blow out. We need a spark. It will come. I tend to agree with Spanky but doubts are creeping into my mind from time to time that we aren't as good as I thought we would be. And that 2015 was in part based on some unrepeatable performances.
  20. The union called him to tell him he tested positive March 5 which means he was dead man walking from then until the suspension came down. No wonder he sucked so badly.
  21. Solo moon shot...gotta keep this one close RA, or we are screwed.
  22. That's fair. Who else throws on the move with as much accuracy as Tulo? I remember seeing Statscast gave Goins credit for being the fastest in MLB at transferring the ball to his hand for throwing. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/toronto-blue-jays-ryan-goins-makes-ridiculous-play-david-price-091615
  23. I have loved watching these guys and I'm a fan. But it sounds to me like Shapiro is making the absolute correct business decisions for the long term health of the org. Its a negotiation or a non starter for EE, but either way its the right call. Jose looks like he is on a mission this season. Locked in.
  24. A lot of fans to care a lot about him. I have heard a lot of them (not on here much). One caller on Jays Talk told Ben Ennis the team should wear a patch in his honour this season and maybe put a big pic of his mushroom head in the clubhouse to keep them thinking of him until he returns for the Second Coming and resurrection. I don't get it. He was a good story....now its just another good one gone bad.
  25. 2015 he had a 9% BB rate in 400 PAs. That became a huge part of whatever offensive value he had. Its like he forget that and same as Pillar now thinks he is a good hitter - chasing a ton out balls out of the zone. Combine that with a pretty avg mitt 2016 and it screams one word..."Devon"
