  1. Nice try by Pillar on that. I f***ing hate lead off walks.
  2. Ya. That makes sense. Upton also reached the short porch in RF last time we played there I think. I don't think Upton has played that well on D, but the corner OF is really bad with those 2.
  3. We can't get down too man against Tanaka. RA is done. We have better options.
  4. Would like to see us bite the bullet and just not run him out there again this season. He has been so unreliable. Can't we spot start Feldman if we need to? Give him a shot.
  5. Sigh of relief after today? Just caught the rest of the game on PVR. Had to take off down 2-1. What a nice comeback. Had to love the job of Barnes and the pen. The kid needs some innings in this run. I like his stuff and he throws strikes. And Ruuuussseelllll Martinnnn....hammering a 3-0 FB that was right down the middle. Great win Jays! Keep the faith. We are going to win the Division.
  6. Even if Navvy has 4 hits today, Gibbons is out of his mind hitting him in the 4th spot. Its just not a guy you want to give more ABs too with the other choices on this team.
  7. He was much better as our lead off hitter. That went well.
  8. Driving me nuts. Long ABs with little swing and miss....or chase driving up pitch count. Even KK's out was a bullet. We deserved a little luck. Its hard to believe this is the team we swept in our final home stand 2015. They need to string together some good ABs against Archer.
  9. Forsythe .458 against us this season. Jesus f***. over 55 pitches and not through 2 - is Feldman long man today?
  10. You are a die hard but you are too down bro. Its Sept 4th and we have 6 games against the BoSox left. Even if they win and we lose today its far from over. We are in bit of a slump....it wont last. Lets get a win today and get out of this shitbox house of horrors.
  11. Welcome to the Board Molly. You got that straight on the Rays. In tough again today against Archer. Got to grind a win out. Sept isn't month to be going through a pitching, hitting and defensive slump. Lets go Jays!
  12. Was 2-0 when I left. Could see Stro getting hit a bit on a TV in a restaurant at dinner. Come out of a movie and those gnats beat us 8-3 with an arm that hasn't pitched in forever? What happened? Liriano get lit up? We have to get back on the horse and win this game tomorrow and the series Sunday.
  13. On any given day he just had wipe out stuff.
  14. I have been in panic mode since we lost the 3 game of the season on Jose's slide into 2B. Lol
  15. Ya, its more than entertainment to me. I don't know why. Maybe its just being an Expos and Jays fan for decades...then tasting those wins in 92 & 93....and then 20 years of nada. The high of that game 5 against Tex was much better than any alcohol or drugs could provide. But we had to win or it would have just sucked. I'm also the same when Canada plays best on best hockey. Wit that its a Maple Leaf national pride thing. I hate losing. Takes me a long time to get over it.
  16. Yup. Ever since this team moved Jimmy Paredes I just don't have quite the confidence in them I used to.
  17. I'd be down for that with Jose, but I'm not sure he is lol. He would also need to agree to be a DH most of the time. For all the talk of Edwin's year, his wRC+ is his lowest since 2011 and his K rate is up 5%. Dem RBIs. He will end up with less WAR than 2015. I don't know that Upton is the solution, but I expect this FO to want upgrade the OF defense. Putting Saunders and Jose on either side of Pillar, is like putting ketchup on Fillet Mignon.
  18. I agree with most of the comments here on their performance thus far. I'm not ready to jump fully on their bandwagon yet...as others have mentioned a lot of the better moves were set up for them. I'm most interested in this off season and how they handle Saunders, Jose and Edwin etc. This team has a solid core but is going to need a lot of work and to me its the first true test for these guys. The Jose situation is getting more interesting. 0.9 WAR. Beltre has put up 4.3 WAR (2/36) as a comparable. I'm actually not convinced now that we won't see one of Jose and/or Edwin back here. I think Bautista has badly hurt his value and its not just injuries. Last time I looked I think he was hitting under .200 on the FB. His LD% is still solid at 18.5% and ironically he has the highest hard contact % of is career 2016. He is worth a reasonable 2 with an option year contract as a DH. Whether he will accept that or not is the question.
  19. If he has a high K rate out of the pen its easier to live with more BBs. But I agree that a wild Liriano is ulcer causing and can pour gas on a fire.
  20. I don't trust him right now but I'm keeping the faith in Cecil. I want to see him get work and get it going. He hasn't been as bad as some think, and I don't see anything wrong with his stuff. Last night was another disappointment agreed. Can you imagine the impact of a 2015 Cecil coming out of the pen right now? He mowed down LHH and RHH. Would be a massive boost.
  21. .363 BAPIP against him with an 18% HR/FB His avg FB and CB V is down 0.3 MPH. Barely discernible. the issue has been FB command and the sharpness of the CB break. Keep putting him out there in lower leverage and hope he gets some luck and some confidence back, because we could really use him.
  22. Can we have 2015 Cecil back for the run please? That feeling when he came out of the pen last half of the year was total confidence in a lights out performance. Blue Jays counting on Cecil Ben Nicholson-Smith September 1, 2016, 8:20 AM BALTIMORE – The deadline for adding postseason-eligible players passed quietly for the Toronto Blue Jays, so it looks like Brett Cecil or bust when it comes to left-handed relief. On paper that’s a potential weakness considering Cecil has a 4.82 ERA with five home runs allowed in 28 innings. Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker doesn’t see it that way. “His stuff is as good right now as it was last year,” Walker said. “I think a lot of times it’s been pitch selection with him.” Walker points to a change-up Jose Ramirez hit in Cleveland and a fastball Kendrys Morales hit in Kansas City as examples of ill-advised pitches. “You take those couple of pitches out and over the last month, his stuff has been very good,” Walker said. "He’s had some at bats where it’s dominant.” The Blue Jays are expected to call up relief help Friday, their first chance to add reinforcements after rosters expanded Thursday. Left-handers Aaron Loup and Chad Girodo figure to be among those earning consideration for call-ups, but Cecil’s clearly the number one lefty. “We certainly think he can help in high-leverage situations down the stretch and I think he’s going to come up big for us,” Walker said. With plenty of moments ahead against left-handed hitters like Chris Davis, David Ortiz and Brian McCann, the Blue Jays will be counting on it.
  23. Really want to see Barnes given some innings this Sept. I know he had mixed results in his only call up, but his stuff looks legit. Not a big believer in the resurrection of Benoit yet. Wouldn't mind the BBs so much if the 6/9 K rate was higher.
  24. What did people think of Sanchez's start last night? 3 BB's and only 2K's against a very tough line up. I thought he got squeezed a bit on calls that Gallardo got. He didn't give up any earned runs...I thought his breaking ball (which he needs for LHH badly) wasn't bad. There wasn't much hard contact. Looked like his FB and change command really wasn't there as much as it has been. Hard to complain about no runs over 6 IP vs O's?
