  1. These poor bastards cant even use the ol' sticky substance ban excuse. At least with Yelich since 2019 he really has battled injuries and his bat is still 110+. Far cry from 2019. Bellinger just seems to have a massive hole in his swing thats now gotten exploited over and over. He cant get to anything up in the zone. On a much smaller scale, Biggio is in kinda the same boat.
  2. I'll never get over that Hosmer deal. Lindor Mets deal will be right up there with it. If someone overpays Baez that deal will also rise to that to that illustrious level.
  3. No. I think Bo and Vlad, for example, worked very hard this off season and take care of their bodies pretty well. Youth just makes it easier. There are obviously guys older that are in great shape. Lots of younger & older players are having strong post all star break results. I just don't understand why they would be less fatigued from a grueling season than our younger players. I think its too convenient to say they don't know how to handle a long seasons fatigue factor.
  4. I’m totally with you on this. I think it’s lame and it’s a narrative I’m hearings lots. Granted Nelson Cruz is a DH but has this 40 year old “learned” how to withstand a long season while raking, over a 21 year old? That makes no sense to me.. If anything these young guys should be less fatigued than guys 30 and up.
  5. 3 years 18mm AAV for reliever is against the DNA of Shatkins/Rogers. There is merit to that. Need a happy medium. OTOH Hendriks is a durable workhorse striking out 14/9 and that would sure be useful in our pen. The f***ing Sox also have Kimbrel. Embarrassment of riches.
  6. Just listening now to Liam Hendriks interview on Baseball Central pod from yesterday. What a great interview he is. Confirmed Jays were seriously in on him. Also how he approaches leverage. Pretty cool what he turned himself into.
  7. Take the W boys! nice hit Kirk and a BB for Grichuk. Even though Valera got a dribbler through, pinch hitting him is so f***ing stupid Charlie. FFS. Just when I think it can’t get worse. RAY is a stud. Omg. 14K 1 BB.
  8. It’s staggering the number of weak at bats otherwise very good hitters are having for this team now. Bo looks lost too.
  9. Gets noose over rafter. Puts it around neck. Steps on chair. Kicks chair over.
  10. Nats didnt really have a great pen come to think of it. But they had horse starters and they rode them and Hudson who we sent them. I was just looking up stuff on Tulo deal to see what if any paid in 21. This article probably wrong. Says it was off in 20? https://jaysjournal.com/2020/11/02/blue-jays-troy-tulowitzkis-contract-finally-off-the-books/ Agree with BTS - dont need tunnel vision on Ray. He has been great but for some reason just not really ready to trust it for the type of deal I think he will be offered.
  11. I haven't done the plus/minus math so as usual talking out my ass but with guys like Teo/Vlad in arb and cost of replacing Marcus and Ray WAR net net on payroll do we really have net dollars?, given how cheap they were in 21? Roark plus Yates/Chatwood = $20mm But we really don't have a bullpen yet. I'd prefer not to wing and a prayer it again in 22. We got killed by shut down pens in 15 and 16 playoffs. Most winning teams have that depth and swing & miss in the pen we just don't have enough of.
  12. Yes, I will sacrifice a 3 chickens, 1 goat, 1 large milk producing cow and a sweep by the O's of us if we get rid of Buntoyo.
  13. Post game positive Buntoyo should manage a Horseshoe team. "Great battle...the guys kept on trying right to the end and the clubhouse mood is great. We were in the game. It was close. There is no quit in these guys" blah blah blah. As our competition racks up the W's. Its not the f***ing try league. This team is so frustrating. If they extend Berrios, I hope to f*** its a team friendly deal at least.
  14. Going to watch little league World Series game and check back later on this one. Lots of work to do for the Birds. Depressing.
  15. Time to reup the Berrios is a quality 2/3 starter but far from an ace discussion? Off to a stunning start today. Not good. Hope we have the bats rolling.
  16. I remember that Jose play at first. Was beautiful. I think he tried it another time soon after and hurt his arm pretty badly? Fluke it happened on that try. Was never really the same after that for arm strength. Was his best tool in the OF.
  17. What a nightmare. The bats? Jesus. Apparently Cimber and Richard not > than the Rays pen, or any of the real teams. Im not so forgiving of the FO for the pen as many. Or for keeping Charlie at the helm. Pinch hitting Kirk for that slap happy scrub cause he is a SH? This season has been just torturous to be so close…and yet so far.
  18. Egregious. Have kind of given up ranting about it for now. I have Charlie Stockholm Syndrome.
  19. Good thing we got Berrios and bolstered the pen at the deadline with Hand. Phew!
  20. what do they see in this guy? Potential wise. Reminds me of Richard Urena.
  21. Listening to Mets pod with Darryl Strawberry fuming at Rojas for not using "one of the best pitchers on the planet" in a situation. That pitcher is Aaron f***ing Loup. Guy has a 1.78 FIP and 1.6 fWAR. Lights out. Seems so strange to hear. He has to be one of the most cursed at Jays reliever I can remember.
  22. Ya. I know. I like Tellez. Always saw him as someone with talent beyond potential but he sucked in 21 for us and we needed pen help. But it didn't have to begin and end there with Rowdy.
  23. Things I'll never fully understand about the FO and this lost 2021 season: 1) How is Charlie still employed? Nice man but he truly is awful. 2) Losing Ray and Semien in 22. Even if we keep one/both it will eat up big $. Why is 2022 and beyond assumed it will be any easier in the AL East? Bo, Vlad, Teo etc gonna get paid. 3) We bargained binned on Yates/Chatwood. I get it. But why did we wait so long to add incremental, material pieces to the pen when it became clear the team was at a minimum a legit wildcard team? 4) Why did we go all in on Berrios (aside from the obvious - one extra year) and yet add only Hand/Soria at deadline in an area of bleeding need? 5) Dolis/Thorton et al. Can't this org do better? 6) How is this offence so unlucky and/or bad in late innings/close games? 7) Dickerson is a good piece. Didn't we need a more impactful LHH with all the tough RHP we face late?
  24. Please end pitchers hitting. It’s a completely unappealing part of the NL game.
  25. Time for anything close to that was during last season. His last 600 PAs = 4+ WAR player now.
