    I know. There are some glass half full scenarios to be sure. I haven’t given up on 21 either. There are also some glass half empty scenarios lol.

    Not at all. It’s baseball. Lots can happen. I just don’t think it gets any easier in this division with those huge contributions questionable for 22.

    Ya. I don’t care if they swing at the first pitch in the 9th at all in that situation if it’s a good one to square up. They just have to get it.

    Last week we were hitting slams at will for kicks seemingly. Tonight not feeling that groove yet. Good job to get us out of this Berrios.

    Ya, this is fun. So many games matter. Also stressful as hell. Watching with my son. Heading to NYY game next Tues in Tor. The next 3 games of these 3 teams will be telling.

    This is going to go against my DNA to hope either Bosox or NYY wins a ballgame, but I guess we are hoping the BoSox roll them? (not that it matters to what happens)

    9 games left. All the inordinate number of games we just pissed away this year is going to make this a pretty interesting & stressful week.

    A long window of contention you say? I just don't see that. Berrios deal (if they can't extend) and our division. The arb years coming and cost of signing our key pieces. Two elite players leave this year unless we spend a bundle. For so many reasons. I hope you are right Jim but I think we are long long way from coming close to attaining that goal. We got very lucky on a lot of things this season and had/have a shot to do some damage. The pen was and is a significant issue, albeit improved.

    I dont want to argue this anymore...so much more went right for us than wrong. Seasons from Ray, Simean, Matz and Manoah blew expectations away. Most of our key offensive pieces were healthy all year. So rare. Save Springer which hurt. We didn't have an Acuna Jr type incident. I could cut and paste the 2021 IL lists of TB, BoSox and NYY or mention Glasnow, Sale, Severino, Voit, Franco etc etc etc. The point is we had some injuries yes, but so did the competition. Some of our injury issues, given history, were fairly predictable. (Yates, Merryweather, Borucki) What went right for us was much more impactful, to the positive. And we need to capitalize.

    If your FO blames pen woes on Merryweather, Yates and Borucki being injured you deserve to blow a lot of games late.

    You could do a report like this for the season on TB, NYY and BoSox too. Glasnow, Severino and Sale top the list for them as arms. Yates and Merryweather on this list? Those two were both crap shoots and if the FO based much team performance on them, thats just bad judgement. In order to really be missed they would have to show they actually could perform. I like Biggio but he struggled and is pretty weak defensively. League has found the hole up in his swing. Kirk is a plus bat for C but again he is a rookie with D limitations. Borucki?...a chandelier unproven at MLB level as is Pearson. Of your list Phelps was probably a material loss. Aside from Springer our main pieces were predominantly healthy. Manoah more than made up for Pearson woes. He was found money this season this early in his career. A lot went right for this team.

    The game and strike zone graphics and awareness for fans has changed. It’s just not acceptable for umps to so badly affect outcomes. That slider to Choi was strike 1 right down the middle. Totally changed the at bat calling it a ball. They need robo umps. Baseball has to evolve.

    Good pitch inside Romano. Jesus. My heart rate. We got a break at the Trop boys! We flipped the script. Win the series tomorrow!

    Agree. It’s just bad for game. Regardless of who gets the calls. It’s disgusting and discredits the best game.

    This is the stuff of my lifelong nightmares. That was the worst f***ery I’ve ever witnessed. I hated that series and that topped it off.

    Ya, me too. I just didn't think he had the hands for it. But seems to have improved and played pretty well. On the play to his right on the backhand, he has been consistently good. The other day he took a look before unloading an off balance throw with zero chance at 1B. Loved to see that.

    Sooooo many things went big time right this year for the Jays. Aside from Springer we were mostly healthy. Ray, Marcus, Matz exceeded all expectations. We have capitalize. I doubt any will be back and if they are its at a huge incremental cost. Really the only disappointments were the pen (predictable), Ryu decline and maybe Biggio.

    Ryu has picked a bad time to suck. But what’s changed? He seems healthy. What V he has is there. If it’s lost command on location thats probably correctable. Arm speed on change? Issue is right now there is no room to throw out a starter who is shelled while they work through it. Hard to have any faith in him now. After the lead off walk to Sano last night it was all downhill.

    Amazing start by Alek. How did Bo hit that out? Some Vlad Sr stuff there. Bats rocking. Love how they got to Yar driving the ball away. Good decision to take Manoah out. Bad decision to use Richards. What possible reason when he might be needed in games 2/3? How can Charlie piss me off even on a near perfect game vs the Rays? Great win.

    Ya, haven't you seen that documentary Pelotero of Sano at 16/17/18? Its interesting. He was signed as a SS as a youngin' Meanwhile, Yanks are going to steal this game thanks to an Ump show and Judge 3 run bomb that should never have happened.
