  1. Our pen was good in April last year too. Starting to get exposed. Throw strikes. Let's go!
  2. Been ragging on him but he got it done in a big start tonight. Props due.
  3. Nice D. Not loving the poo mix Kikuchi is throwing but so far working ok for us. Need to tack some runs on. Leaving bases juiced again hurt.
  4. Oh Terminator, you and your cancel culture. Stop trying to cancel Bongo Dufus. Just because of his Tapia line up order dumbness (insert other bone headed moves) offends you its no reason to cancel him...or is it?
  5. This is an A-1 post. 100% agreement. Soto works counts and takes his BBs. Vlad will have to too.
  6. Baseball is one tough business. Highs for Katoh and then this. I hope he gets picked up and gets more MLB time.
  7. Stating what I think is obvious. Teo coming back helps. But we did play half of last year without Springer. This offence needs an impact LHH(s). I look at the balance in the attack teams like Houston has. Makes them harder to pitch to. I don't think for a second this O is bad and I don't think this RISP dreadful state will continue. It's a great offence. But we do have some approach holes and are too RHH heavy when you face the rotations and pens we do.
  8. Yikes. Watching kids practice not the game. This thread reads like Jonestown. Mass suicide.
  9. I dont know if he would have scored on that ball. Judge has a strong arm. But that's kind of beside the point. I think Zimmer has something like 90th percentile speed. Faster than Tapia. Great spot to use his limited skills in a tight game. We should have taken the shot to add that speed.
  10. lol. When Buck does anything remotely like this some will say "Bucked" or "Buck is drunk". I have no idea what one could say about this. He just keeps digging with the shovel. "Because Stanton caught the ball". Priceless
  11. It sucks Rizzo looks so dangerous this season. Why couldn't he just ride off into the sunset with his ring?
  12. Lourdes didn't swing at 1 strike in the AB. Reaches for a slider for an easy DP. Buzz Kill
  13. This conversation reminds me a bit of similar past conversations we Jays fans have had - Reed Johnson '06 and watching Marco Scutaro's seasons here. If we can compete at a high level in the past with bats like Goins and Manny Lee, Espy is definitely for real given his D value. He is hard not to love as a player.
  14. Just caught game on PVR. Didn't know score. Holy heart attack...again. Springer saved it. I mean lots of team efforts for the W but Jesus that was a money catch. I'm pretty impressed with his compete level even if he doesn't make that game saver. Timely for us these W's against tough teams with the Yanks rolling.
  15. His career BB/9 is 3.5. YA, its not 8/9 lol but it ain't great. The sample size since 2nd half 21, where its been more of an issue, is getting bigger.
  16. That’s a Glass half full take. Kikuchi isn’t an innings eater. Not his MO. Especially since 2nd half of 21. Saying he just has to cut the walks down a bit is kind of like saying Pillar just had to get better pitch selection at the plate. I don’t think Pearson’s issues are that unique aside from getting mono lol, which was seriously bad luck. Quite a few tall pitchers such as Glasnow and May with injury issues and high ceilings. Saying to "fix" Nate was tongue in cheek. I don't think pitching coaches can fix anyone. Limits to what they can do.
  17. Did you see Vasquez freaking out jumping in the air when Sawamura threw that ball into LF lol. Man I loved that.
  18. Sawamura totally f***ed up an easy play to lose in extras to the 0s. Does my heart good. BoSox lose.
  19. I think Walker is a good pitching Coach but too much is made of the Robbie Ray turnaround, and the narrative that he is going to do the same with Kikuchi. There is a much longer list of arms he hasn't been able to "fix". Like a hitting Coach there is a limit to what they can do. "Fix" Pearson instead please. More upside than Kikutchi who is giving us 2-4 IPs of mostly mediocre starts. Same as last half of 21 for Seattle. Maybe we tried and just didn't get him, but was Rodon was less risk on his 2/44 year deal? That guy when healthy is just ridiculous.
  20. All said and done, if he stays healthy and thats a big if, he will become an important leverage piece. He is lacking a bit of command on his FB and off speed stuff grooving his FB too much center cut. Its hard but doesn't have much movement. If he finds a little more touch, he is going to start to dominate again for us.
  21. Right now I simply cannot fathom 3 years of Kikuchi. When he gave up that 2 out 2 strike dinger to Bergman on a slider...here we go again.
