    Canada lost 4-2 to Curacao to get eliminated at the LLWS. Great effort by the kids from BC. Beat Japan. Competed. Down 4-0 in the last inning (6th) they loaded the bases no out. Curacao brought in their top arm to close. Kid hit 78 or 101 from MLB equivalency. They got 2 across and had tying run at the plate twice.

    Maybe. All star appearances in the era of fan voting and with even really bad teams having at least one player on roster really have to be discounted dramatically in any HOF consideration. I pray. He was part of 14 and 15 really good teams. As for the silver sluggers 4 surprises me a bit. I thought maybe 2. But again Teo has 2. Not sure the criteria. Same with Gold Gloves. Martin has 1. Is Sal a better defensive C? Lourdes almost got 1 FFS. I would hope the home runs in todays game, given his wRC+, get their due consideration. His career WAR is just so low compared to Yadi Posey and Martin. Who knows.

    Pour quoi? He is a big, strong, tough man back there! He just looks like a Catcher. Hes a ballplayer.

    1000% agreement. Thats a farce. WS ring. 1 big HR season. I've listened to writers with a vote talking suggesting he is worth strong consideration brought up in the same sort of convo with guys like Yadi and Posey. More than once. Martin I've literally never heard once being even discussed as a candidate. (I realize "writers with a vote" is part of the problem)

    LOL. Yep. Its so upside down to see what has become of that formerly exploding FB to complement a wipeout slider. I'd seen some Sarris work on his stuff prior to the deadline that looked bizarre to me. And why I wasn't keen to pay much, if anything, for his high wire act at the deadline. Depth...I guess.

    Eno Sarris @enosarris By Stuff+, Noah Syndergaard has one of the worst four-seam fastballs in the game. So he's cut his usage from 21% with Angels to 7% with Phillies. The changeup is below average, so he's cut that from 23% to 10%. Changing your mix is the easiest way to improve. (Thor with one of the worst 4 seamers in the game. Baseball is a hard game to be good at and even harder to sustain at a high level)

    For sure. Barry Bonds is still the greatest player I've ever seen and that includes the Pirates pre PED years (at least i think they were). Baines is in the HOF with 38 career WAR as Omar points out. How about Roger Clemens? Guy was insane arm. Blyleven and Morris finally made it. Questionably. Jim Rice. Nobody can tell me Bagwell, Pudge or Piazza weren't juiced. Pudge bulked up a ton the last few years. Still an awesome player. There is a good case for Martin and Stieb. Anyway...lots of names should be in that aren't and the inconsistency makes me look lesser on the HOF than I'd like to.

    Agree. I'm ok with Papi too but it should open doors to others with PED issues. Posey will go in. He deserves it. There is a lot of talk Sal Perez should go in. Martin should be a lock before Sal. Martin's career at C was remarkably productive and consistent.

    Both who guys should be in HOF? Yadi and Papi? Agree. So should Barry Bonds and a lot of others.

    Incredible to me. Seems like a lock for 1st ballot HOF yet his career fWAR(not the be all end all at C) is 55 - the same as Russel Martin, who rarely if ever, gets a HOF mention. Kind of sums it up. Some players for whatever reason (playoff performance - gold gloves etc etc) just seem to get elevated in status. Some get the opposite. Big Papi was in the same class as Yadi, getting into HOF even though tied credibly to PEDs at one point.

    Interesting looking at Jays individual WAR 21 and 22. They had 3 offensive players in '21 over 5 WAR and Teo was over 4. Not sure anyone will even hit 5 this year. Kirk is leading with Springer at 3.2 and Springer isn't playing much. Chappy right there. OTOH there are a lot of 2+ seasons. A lot of consistent quality. (Gausman obviously at the top pitching WAR. I don't understand relievers WAR. Phelps same value as Romano)

    Ya, these kids are supposed to be 11 and 12 max. Possibly historic game for Canada against Mexico 5pm EST today. They beat MEX before once a few years ago, and if they do I think it may be the furthest Canada ever advanced. Canada's 6-0 win against Japan was the only the 1st first round loss for 11 time LLWS winner Japan in 60 years. Only the 2nd time ever they lost their first game.

    Yep, Hard to complain about Lourdes given how he has been raking but wish he was waiting looking for a pitch up in the zone there....or at least a strike! Got himself out there.

    f*** that. I tell little leaguers to get in front of relatively hard shots and not try and pick them off to the side. Especially with 2 out and a runner on 2B. It wasnt an easy play but he is a MLB SS.

    Its been same quite a few starts now. Its not showing up in V much but I bet its fatigue affecting his delivery, and league adjustments. He is a focus now by our opposition.
