  1. So that's what defense in RF looks like...
  2. Dominguez looks like a create-a-player from an MLB video game.
  3. Jays are currently 16th in runs scored per game at 4.14, and 15th in runs against per game at 4.23. I would have thought they would have been a little lower ranked on the pitching/defense side but I guess it's more the timing of the runs scored than the quantity (other than last night).
  4. Bautista to the Stewart-led D-Backs for an absurdly dumb contract seems painfully obvious. Maybe we can trade him now for Pollock since he's hurt.
  5. 53 strikes and 35 balls (60% strikes) wouldn't normally lend itself to an almost 9 BB/9 I would guess. I don't think the overall line is that gross.
  6. Amazing how some people don't get this. It's not because the ump hates Sanchez, it's because he's missing his spots. Look what happened to Kershaw the other day. The umps are definitely not out to get the best pitcher in the league, yet this happened: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/kershaw-pence.png http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/kershaw-pence-2.png As soon as the catcher has to reach across one way or the other, there's a huge chance you're not getting the call, no matter who you are.
  7. Only real mistake was shaking off Martin a few times before serving up that tater. I bet Rusty told him to f*** off and listen from now on.
  8. 97 mph in the 7th is decent I guess...
  9. Exactly. It's not like we're giving him the Kris Bryant treatment.
  10. Not bad at all. No BB's?
  11. Creeeeeeepy.... Bautista is number 19. 1+9=10. Signed a 5 year contract. He seeks a 5 year deal. Already has 10/5 rights. Born in the 10th month. Drafted in the rule 5 draft.
  12. Free Glucosamine Chondroitin for everyone!
  13. Real fans would rather have a roster of all their favourite stars. We should resign Jose and Eddy for whatever they like, bring back Halladay for 25M. Maybe Vernon Wells could come back for 15M or so, I always liked him.
  14. I'd be willing to wager Pompey puts up a better WAR/600 than Bruce this year. So yeah, you high AF.
  15. God I love the sound of that sizzle.
  16. So apparently Blake Griffin broke his hand while punching a Clippers staff guy multiple times? That's pretty messed up.
  17. Did anything legally ever happen to Miguel Tejada once it turned out he was older? Cause it seems like there's a lot of millions of dollars that are paid out based on you being a certain age (age curves, decline) and I'd think taking an extra 50 or 70 mil on a contract while lying about your age would be a major crime.
  18. Definitely not the way you'd want to spend your remaining budget (or blow past it) for this team. Makes more sense for DET since they're upgrading from an unplatooned Maybin or Gose. This will look interesting in 2018 though: Cabrera - 34 years old - 30M Verlander - 34 - 28M Zimm - 31 - 24M Upton - 30 - ~22M (avg of 132 over 6) V-Mart - 39 - 18M Fielder - 6M Club options (probably picked up?) Kinsler - 35 - 10M Sanchez - 33 - 16M That's 154M for 7 guys over 30 (or 128M for 5 if options are declined), with no extension for JD Martinez. That's gonna get ugly in a hurry.
  19. The Tigers will be pretty good for maybe 2 years, and then unfathomably terrible from 2018 onward. Ilitch is quite literally yoloing like no one has yoloed before. Theyre going to be paying Cabrera, Zimmermann, Verlander, V-Mart, and now Upton over 100M per year for decline years. I can see why Dombrowski wanted to GTFO. Edit: Also Anibal Sanchez is making 16M.
  20. Dickey is coming off a 3.6 RA9 WAR season, makes 12M, requires only a 1 year commitment, and has no draft pick tied to him. Gallardo is coming off a 2.5 WAR season, just declined 15.8M, requires at least 2-3 years, and has a draft pick tied to him. I don't see any scenario where Gallardo over Dickey makes any sense, unless you think that the Dickey return package would outweigh the draft pick and any value difference. ***Used different WARs since I think each represents their respective pitcher better.
  21. That would be a good strategy depending on the cost. I was thinking about this earlier: Could the Jays do to hitters what Oakland/San Diego/etc. does with pitchers? Oakland has a history of having guys with great traditional stats (due partially to things like park factors, etc.) and then dealing them for a profit. A lot of pitchers have signed one-year deals in places like San Diego to rebuild their value because of the pitching environment. The Jays could do this in theory with guys who have good stats (HR, RBI, AVG) that aren't really supported by their BABIP's, HR/FB, etc. Juan Fransisco and Chris Colabello come to mind as guys who performed better than they would have in a context-neutral environment and should probably have been dealt at their peak value. They could also take on guys who are looking to rebuild value in an offensive environment. The problem is they don't really have the roster flexibility as it stands now to take on a 1B/DH/Corner OF type of player unless someone gets dealt, but it does seem like a good way to take advantage of the offensive environment of Toronto.
  22. I feel great reading this! Also, I am typing with my left hand and sitting on my right, which means I'm about to be visited by "the stanger," making me feel even better!
  23. Hard to believe that we couldn't have traded them Navarro this year when they were jonesing for a catcher. Dat avridge!
  24. I thought I remember reading an article about how once you reach a certain distance from the mean in terms of run scoring or prevention, it makes sense to keep adding to that strength. Adding another huge bat to this lineup could have compounding effects that would not exist if the same player was added to a worse (or context neutral) lineup.
  25. Reminds me of the egomaniacal type of tweeting that Jose Canseco does all the time.
