  1. I think he thought it was ball 4 instead of strike 3. Still, idiotic.
  2. Anyone know the exit velocity on that one? That was a bullet.
  3. Agreed. Opposing teams should definitely bring the OF's in to gobble up all those s***** singles.
  4. NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!! 3 points lower than the lowly Rays, and a whopping 16 points behind the rebuilding Yankees.
  5. Could be a bit much on the arm if his legs are tired from catching the previous day. At the same time, he's just 18 so you'd think he could handle that every now and then.
  6. Nice to see SRF have a good outing. No BB's and 7 K's over 5 is very decent.
  7. I feel like this makes a lot of sense, but I don't know if this is actually the team's rationale for doing what they've done. Perhaps it's possible that a data-driven front office could end up with same conclusions and a similar roster given the situation, but I'm hesitant to award that credit to Duquette and co.
  8. Case in point: Los Angeles Angels.
  9. Like any of the bench guys would be infinitely better. I'd even try any RH pitcher really in that scenario.
  10. Goins against a lefty to start the 8th is pathetic.
  11. It is now 2-0 because of a throwing error by... Carlos Martinez.
  12. And is also only losing 1-0 Edit: and that run scored on a wild pitch. That's a pee wee start lol.
  13. Carlos Martinez somehow has 7 walks and 11 K's and is not even out of the 5th yet.
  14. Anyone else watch the Aaron Sanchez "Limitless" thing on Sportsnet? I like Sanchez and the story is decent, but the whole music/billboard/production thing is cringeworthy.
  15. This also brings to mind the Castro/Osuna promotions from 2015. Any chance that this type of aggressive push encourages other draftees/int'l FA's to sign with Toronto? If Toronto becomes known as a team that promotes quickly based on talent, rather than drawing out the service time game, it has to help their image/appeal in some regard.
  16. Jesus. That first one is massive. I can definitely see how having those in your ankle could affect your delivery.
  17. I think it was mentioned that it has something to do with trying to manage his workload at least a little bit. Not sure how that does anything unless they end up skipping him on a day off or around the All-Star break.
  18. Then maybe 2M more at most? Pagan at 1/3-5M seems like a no brainer, unless he's looking for 6+ or a 2 year deal.
  19. What's the estimated difference between his demands and the Jays at this stage? It can't be much more than 1M. Is that really worth letting LF situation go to the actual season in this state? I love the Shatkins regime very much so far, but to leave a position in this state to start the season has a weird feel to it.
  20. Is it just me or does Salty have a hard time throwing the ball back to the pitcher? Looks like a minor case of the ol' yips.
  21. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs/look-here-for-your-justin-smoak-optimism/ Basically a quick look at Smoak's exit velocity, launch angle, and contact rate to find similar players. Most similar players had decent success, while he most certainly did not. Perhaps some reason for hope? Probably not...
  22. It is frustrating to know that the next guy picked was Corey Seager (followed by Michael Wacha). We did also nab Stroman a few picks later, but other than those 3 guys, the rest of the 1st round after Davis is fairly uninspiring. Edit: I also remember thinking Giolito would fall to us, but got picked one pick before (Washington). You'd have to think AA would have grabbed him if given the chance, based on the "upside" and also the Hoffman pick later on.
  23. I agree. He also had no lane to the plate either, and it kind of looks like the catcher lands right on his hand which probably didn't feel great.
  24. -I'm excited to see if Morales' exit velocity/batted ball profile from last year stays similar and translates to solid success at the RC. His contract has taken a lot of heat this offseason, so I'd like to see it justified in some regard. -I would love to see a full-ish season of Travis/Tulo up the middle, but that could just be a pipe dream. -Looking forward to developing arms, considering Estrada and Liriano are FA after this season. -A dream come true would be Smoak either having a solid season,or disappearing completely into the Francisco/Colabello ether.
