  1. Explains why nobody picked him up as a backup yet. Would suck if this lead to his retirement.
  2. Except that what if Bautista and Saunders go down? That isn't exactly an inconceivable scenario. At that point, our outfield is going to be what, Pillar, Pompey and Dirks?
  3. I'm so sick of Dustin McGowan. I just don't want him to have anything to do with this team at this point. I don't care if he's got good stuff and he can break out. There's a thousand relievers that can say the same. I just have this terrible feeling that the second McGowan signs with the Jays, be it even a minor league deal, he'll automatically be destined to throw a significant number innings in 2015. I called McGowan giving up a homer on three separate occasions last year. Since 2011, he's given us a total of -0.1 wins. I have no confidence in this guy pitching for a contending team, and I'd be very content with them finally telling him to f*** off, and closing this chapter for good.
  4. Am I the only one that's worried more about outfield depth than I am about the rotation, bullpen and middle infield? Bautista played 155 games last year. Considering his injury history over the two years prior, I'm not sure how confident I am in him repeating another full season without any problems.
  5. I still like a Shields signing (I don't think he'll become an albatross), and I think the Blue Jays want him. I don't think he's going to come here, because I feel like he'll get comparable offers from other teams and he'll sign somewhere that he prefers to Toronto.
  6. Always liked Perez. Nice pickup.
  7. There's a difference between toeing the company line and acting like a jackass douche. He's like Law, except he doesn't actually know anything, which makes him completely useless. There are plenty of good to decent writers that work for Rogers, like Davidi and BNS, who don't come off as total morons but aren't exactly starving on the side of the street either.
  8. Exactly this. There isn't a snowflake's chance in hell that Wilner would claim Saunders is a better player between the two if the situation were reversed. He's full of s*** and he's a disgrace to "journalism".
  9. No he's not. He's dumb as f*** and he's Wilner. Wilner has a way of making things that are potentially true look blatantly false because his egotistical douchebag self isn't capable of saying anything without coming off as an insufferable ****. Saunders has strong potential to be a better baseball player than Melky, but he isn't "very clearly" better. Playing time is a skill, and Saunders has never consistently displayed that skill. He misses 30 games in a good season. Melky has been worth 9.9 WAR over the last four years. Saunders has been worth 4.8 in that time. Saunders can be better. We know he can, and we hope he will. As it stands, right now, Melky Cabrera is "very clearly" the better player between the two.
  10. Now that it's been reported by Heyman, I'm finally convinced that the Jays won't sign Shields.
  11. I think Martin and Donaldson will have a claim to that title before long as well. Both guys seem like really good students of the game.
  12. Hope he's made it into the leadoff spot by 2016.
  13. Top 6 seems a bit excessive. Maybe top 3 in each quarter.
  14. I wonder if we'll ever see how much bad umpire calls/good catcher frames effect a guy's BB/K rates, and if there will ever be a way to adjust for it and give someone credit for being screwed with more than the average player. Sort of like reverse-framing for position players. If a guy earned a walk, but wasn't awarded one because he was standing in front of an elite framer or a s*** umpire, it shouldn't be a mark against him, and it shouldn't reflect negatively in his plate discipline stats.
  15. I think I'm gonna try to go next year. All the tickets I saw were between 30-50 each and that seems like a very reasonable price.
  16. No, I think it's more feasible to simply build a new ballpark at that point.
  17. Good. He should be. They make ******** calls against him all the time. Yeah, they make ******** calls against everyone, but I can see why it's more infuriating for a guy that has elite plate discipline and deserves to get the counts that he's earned, and knows when he's been robbed.
  18. As someone who doesn't hold many reservations about my opinions towards people, and I can say pretty confidently that I really doubt Bautista is a douchebag. He comes off as very likeable and passionate about the game. He might look like a douche on the field, and I can even agree with that to a certain extent, but I don't think that's a representation of him as a guy. Everyone in the clubhouse and in the media seems to like him, and he seems to be closer to his fans than most athletes of his caliber are.
  19. No, he's f***ing insufferable to me. And I say that as someone who's actually warmed up to him as a player.
  20. I could see them signing a guy like Badenhop, provided he'd want to come here. Btw, the Jays just had their first arb hearing since 1997, with Valencia. The result will be out tomorrow.
  21. Davidi and Davis talking on the Sportsnet stream, if you were on the MLB.com stream and want to listen in for whatever reason.
  22. f***ing love Gibby. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-laughing002.gif
