  1. Looks like the Jays picked a good year to not have any high picks.
  2. I've always wondered what drives teams to sign these 16 year olds to such massive contracts, but stops them from spending similar dollars on guys like Beede, Aiken, Bryant, Nola, etc. When the Jays drafted Kris Bryant, he couldn't have been more raw than someone like Vladdy Little, right? I imagine if they'd even offered him half of what they'll probably sign Vlad for, they might have gotten him. I've always said that I understand if a team drew the line and didn't go nuts to sign someone like Bryant (as the Jays) or Cole (as the Yankees), but then you realize the same teams give 3-4M, sometimes higher to these 16 year olds in the DR. This isn't a valid comparison any longer, with the new draft caps in place, but why didn't teams spend like they do in the IFA market, on guys with high ceilings/low signability in the draft up until a few years ago.
  3. Predicting next year's Top 15 (without accounting for draft or IFA signings). Added a totally ******** rating for each prospect in how confident I am on that guy being there, and how good I think he'll be in relation to the others on the list (I think Pentecost will have 91% of the prospect value that Hoffman has, and so on). Did this mostly just to show which guys I think will be interchangeable. Yes, the ratings are stupid, yes I'm irrationally high on Smoral and Tellez, no I don't want to debate why I'm still low on Castro, yes I know there's a less than 1% chance that this list looks anything close to the real thing when it comes around. 01. (100) Jeff Hoffman 02. (091) Max Pentecost 03. (086) Matt Smoral 04. (085) Roberto Osuna 05. (082) Sean Reid-Foley 06. (080) Dwight Smith 07. (071) Rowdy Tellez 08. (071) Matt Boyd 09. (065) Jairo Labourt 10. (061) Miguel Castro 11. (059) Anthony Alford 12. (047) Richard Urena 13. (017) Juan Meza 14. (008) Angel Perdomo 15. (000) Jake Brentz
  4. Here's to a new season; to more wins, less tards and just as much unwarranted hatred as always.
  5. Vladdy Little + tons of high ceiling guys + Hector Olivera > Moncada
  6. Was just about to post that. Beautiful swing, beautiful sound.
  7. I play auctions often. It's going to take forever. If you've got 25-man rosters, that's 500 nominations. You'll be lucky to get it done in 5 hours.
  8. We've got three new players on the team, in Donaldson, Smoak and Saunders, who's teams all played 108 games at Safeco, Oco, Minute Maid and Anaheim last year (park factor ranks of 23, 21, 18, 26). Martin is also coming from a similarly poor offensive environment in PNC Park, which ranked 24th last year. The dome, in comparison, was the 6th ranked offensive environment in 2014. <3
  9. a) We're probably not gonna make a trade with Detroit. Blair isn't a source. I'm not entirely sure, but I'd assume that A-Rod has 10-and-5 rights by now; not only do I not see the Jays wanting anything to do with A-Rod, I don't see A-Rod approving a trade to Toronto, especially because f***ing with the Yankees probably entertains him at this point.
  10. No they aren't, lol. The only Moncada-related news to come out today: http://i.gyazo.com/73ea83d48ffc4bb5ea064af54d4d0e8d.png

  12. lol @ Jonn, gruber and RealAccountant all nodding in agreement.
  13. You're such a f***ing imbecile. Every single time the Jays have made a depth signing this offseason, you were right there to bitch and complain about it; now you're bitching about there not being enough depth? Really? Re: Blue Jays sign Andy Dirks Re: Blue Jays sign Matt West Re: Blue Jays sign Ronald Belisario and Ramon Santiago Re: Blue Jays sign Tiago Da Silva Seriously just f*** off already. How you went from being a decent poster to utter garbage in the matter of a few months is beyond me, but all you are is a nuisance at this point. Cry to yourself, stop dragging everybody else down.
  14. Bryant at 5, Bradley at 11, Gallo at 15, Sanchez over Norris... this definitely is a puzzling list.
  15. Yeah, surprisingly. Considering Reyes' sense of fashion, you'd think if he ever got a shoe deal, it'd be orange or pink or some rainbow colored monstrosity or something. I like these.
  16. It's not entirely weird. He could be weighing the options of a) playing in his home town and great weather of San Diego, or playing for his long time coach Joe Maddon, and the potential novelty of breaking the world series drought in Chicago. Wow, that's actually an incredibly interesting clause. I wonder if any teams out there have thought of it, and how appealing it might be for him. A 4 or 5 year deal with an opt-out after every season would be perfect for a team like the Jays signing a guy like Shields.
  17. Also, this is a thing that happened. http://i.gyazo.com/76c3eed96d5e144842c36f407a710d5f.png
  18. http://instagram.com/p/y3LfY1zVbb/ I think Reyes is getting his own shoe. Posted it one minute ago, already has 400 likes lol.
  19. Almost no chance that the Jays would be able to beat that offer vs San Diego.
  20. Someone should convince Yulieski Gourriel to defect.
  21. Yeah, Felix 2013 is essentially right there as well. It's insane how fast the offensive game is generally declining. Makes you excited to see how the bats will adjust in the coming years.
  22. I loved David Rollins. I picked him as a sleeper prospect so many times, his minors numbers were ridiculous. Would be awesome if he were to pan out.
  23. Speaking of something somewhat related but totally unrelated, here's a funny stat. Over the last decade, there have only been 15 times that a pitcher walked less than two (per 9), struckout more than seven (per 9) and scored a GB rate of 50% or more. The list Chris Carpenter (2005, 2006) Roy Halladay (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) Cole Hamels (2011) Kris Medlen (2012) Brando McCarthy (2014) Carlos Carrasco (2014) Hisashi Iwakuma (2014) Jeff Samardzija (2014) Felix Hernandez (2014) Clayton Kershaw (2014) Marcus Stroman (2014) (Graphic here)
